I'm on neither side - in fact, I'm sort of anti-sides. I think this whole left/right liberal/conservative debate is silly and probably very bad for the country.

So I know just how slanted some of the other news agencies are to the left. It's all BS - the only difference is some BS is colored blue and some is red. The reason the red-tinted BS is getting the ratings now is because they're delivering the bad news. People aren't interested in how great things are going - that's bad for ratings, but they'd love to watch someone talk about "Obama's secret fascist war against America" or "Teabagging against tyranny." It's a lot more interesting than the "Hooray! Obama is Saving the World!" nonsense that the left news agencies are inundating us with now...

WHY FOX WINS
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/713670--potter-daring-hoax-exposes-limits-of-instant-journalism

WASHINGTON – You attend a press conference. The newsmaker speaks. You run a DNA test to confirm they are who they claim to be. And then you publish.

An absurd notion. But only marginally more absurd than the high comedy that played out at Washington's National Press Club on Monday, a few floors above the Toronto Star's Washington Bureau, when the U.S. Chamber of Commerce made big news that wasn't.

Already in the news for its hard-lobbying opposition to U.S. climate-change legislation, the pro-business Chamber dropped reporters' jaws with what appeared to be a turning-point announcement - that the organization now accepts that "without a stable climate, there will be no business."

The dramatic reversal was conveyed instantly, led by the Reuters agency, and minutes later it was picked up by the New York Times and Washington Post Web sites.

But by the time Fox Business News jumped in with real-time analysis, the real U.S. Chamber of Commerce burst into the news conference, together with red-faced representatives of the National Press Club, to debunk the proceedings as a hoax.

Reporters' heads swiveled back and forth from the possible interlopers at the podium to the possible interlopers who were calling them out, wondering who among them was legitimate. For a few minutes both sides stood their ground. Someone asked for a business card.

And finally the ruse was revealed - the man purportedly speaking on behalf of America's largest business lobby was in fact Andy Bichlbaum of the anti-corporate pranksters known as the Yes Men, who had just pulled off their piece de resistance.

After previously impersonating the likes of Dow Chemical, Halliburton and the U.S. Government, the activists had punked their way into the very heart of mainstream American journalism, running a bogus presser in hall of fame studded with the portraits of everyone from Walter Cronkite to Edward R. Murrow.

The real Chamber is hopping mad, as you would expect, and the Press Club is cringingly embarrassed at how easily the acceptance of a $500 room rental fee exposed a major vulnerability to guerrilla-style activism. The rest of us received a cardinal lesson in the dangers of the tweet-first-ask-questions-later pace of modern news.

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/26/cnn-drops-to-last-place-among-cable-news-networks/?hp

The official monthly numbers will be finalized at 4 p.m. Monday and will include results from Friday. CNN executives conceded that will not change the competitive standing for the month. CNN will still be last in prime time.

That means CNN’s programs were behind not only Fox News and MSNBC, but even its own sister network HLN (formerly Headline News.) Three of its four shows between 7 and 11 p.m. finished fourth and last among the cable news networks. That was the first time CNN had finished that poorly with its prime-time shows.

I think that the Whitehouse's attack on Fox News only serves to highlight how much the other networks are in the tank for Obama. Most people aren't paying attention but for those who do, its a clear indication where they can find news that hasn't been White(house) washed.
hyway to hell

but a bias is a bias, whether its in your favor or against you - doesn't change the fact that the report is slanted towards the views and leanings of the reporter - and of the overall organization represented by him/her.

It's nearly impossible to find any 'news' now that doesn't have this problem.

Like the old saying goes - the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.
RoamAround

The problem isn't the Bias. Its easy to recognize the Bias and read past it. I have no problem with the Bias of the main stream press (even though I sometimes have to control my gag reflex). The problem is the complete censorship of the news such that you aren't getting news, but rather an agenda. Charlie Gibson stating that he had no idea that there was a story about Acorn and undercover video footage and that its only a story for a minor cable news network is damning evidence of how in the tank they are.
