News coverage
A few minutes ago I switched on the TV and saw Ari Fleisher giving the LIVE daily press conference. Its only hours before the deadline of war. I scan the various news channels. FOX - Ari is live, MSNBC - Ari is live, CNN - An Iraqi general in full uniform is giving a live press conference on how Iraq has withstood invaders in the past and will withstand this one as well ... WTF!!!!!

I take your point Hyway, but I'll try and apply some unbiased news coverage.
What's actually happening actually in Iraq is more important that what the President's spokesman is saying.
Also Fox has been kicked out of Iraq after the supposed Iraqi journalist was kicked out of the US a few weeks ago - the Iraq's said to Bush, you kick out our guy and we'll kick out yours, and specifically chose Fox. As Fox has no team in Iraq CNN will take the scoop of coverage from inside the country every time over a press conference every other organization can cover.

oh, and tilt, where does it say anywhere in my post that I was making a statistical analysis. I made a post about something that struck me as odd. you are the one that insinuated anything about CNN needing a statistical analysis.

ynami, I wasn't aware what they were showing was a scoop. Sounded like propaganda. You may say that what the White House is saying is propaganda, I'll not argue that one way or the other (only, I will just say that if Ari didn't come out to speak, there would be hell to pay with the media). But we are about to put our men and women in harms way, our propraganda could mean saving their lives while their propaganda is aimed at taking their lives.

yeah, there is a lot of talk about how CNN did a deal with Iraqis before 1991 war that other news organizations wouldn't be a part of (BBC, for example, was in Iraq but didn't have the use of an Iraqi communication cable to send pictures and commentry out live). CNN apparently did a deal to get that line. You can't argue with the fact that the channel was made by its coverage though.

Meanwhile, al-Jazeera television, quoting Iraqi medics, said on Saturday that 50 people had been killed in U.S. bombing around the southern Iraqi city of Basra. The network aired grisly footage of dead and wounded civilians.

Among the scenes beamed across the Arab the world by the Qatar-based satellite channel, were a child with the back of its head blown off — it was unclear if it was a boy or a girl — and bloodied people being treated on the floor of a hospital.

A child with the back of its head blown off..... won't see that on FOX I'll bet....unless....

Well, Alaska, I'll ask you the same question that I posed to Bkrpaul; Where was all your righteous indignation when Saddam was murdering his own people? Remember also that your friend Saddam had the option to bow out peacefully. Finally, do you know for a fact what killed that child? Surely the Iraqi leadership wouldn't stage such a scene...

one other thing
Pick one other country in the world that can't take an entire city with as few casualties on either side. What would that city look like if it was an Iraqi army trying to take control, or Iranian, or any Arab army. What if it was a chinese Army. How much respect would be given to human life and homes by any other Army.

To follow someone blindly because they were elected or they are aligned with a particular political party is a dangerous course to take, we cannot go to sleep because the election is over no one regardless of which party is in power should just follow blindly it is our duty as citizens to always question and demand answers it is how we remain free.is not the issue.

Buddha Bear
10:13:17 AM
3/23/03

B.B. You are making an incorrect assumption I have never said I was for or against the war in Iraq, the thing is my views and ideals do not stop at Saddam. Without a doubt we need to get rid of Saddam and I believe the only way that could happen is to go in there and remove him with force, Saddam laughs at diplomacy, but when it’s all over and Saddam is gone if we do not step back and take a look at our own mistakes in helping him become such a threat this whole think will have been for naught. Saddam is pure evil, so how could we have been so stupid. We need to ask the hard questions of ourselves such as why did we give Saddam supplies of Anthrax why did we help Saddam in targeting people for poison gas attacks. The brave people who are right now fighting and dieing for this country deserve no less. Self-criticism is a very hard thing to do, but it is the most important thing to do. We can’t expect better of other people if we don’t demand better of ourselves. Some will we see this as anti American, but it is not, it is very much pro American. I love this county and so I have a high set of standards for it. This is not to say we are the only country that has made mistakes in this, there are many countries with dirty hands.

Where was your righteous indignation when America gleefully supplied weapons to both Iraq and Iran when they were slaughtering each other?

Where was your righteous indignation when Bush 1 allowed Saddam to kill thousands of Kurds following Gulf War 1?

Where was your righteous indignation when America installed and supported the Shan of Iran who murdered thousands of Iranians?

Where is your righteous indignation for America nuking hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese?

Need I continue with more examples?

Where was your righteous indignation when America gleefully supplied weapons to both Iraq and Iran when they were slaughtering each other?
Iraq was our ally at the time -moron.

Where is your righteous indignation for America nuking hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese?

I wasn't born yet, and maybe I wouldn't have been born, for my grandfather would probably have perished in a Japanese mainland invasion. We did what was best for the world, and ourselves, if you have a problem with that, I and the majority of America, and the world, could really care less

BTW - keep giving you futile useless examples over something you know nothing about. Thank you.
Where was your righteous indignation when Bush 1 allowed Saddam to kill thousands of Kurds following Gulf War 1?

We couldn't help due to cease fire, brought about so stupid liberals like yourself and weak foriegn nations wouldn't protest. This is why we no longer listen to the likes of you.

Where was your righteous indignation when America installed and supported the Shan of Iran who murdered thousands of Iranians?

Notice how we no longer support the shah of Iran.

I was saying the same thing that I'm saying now. It just so happens that we have over 45 leaders in this world that have enough balls to back up the righteous indignation. If we left it up to the other leaders, more people would die.
