“so, we have decided to take drastic measures. what with Basketball season just endind, baseball season(3 boys playing now!{I'M COACHING 2!!}) fixing to start up, me trying to put together a band, us needing to get this house ready to sell(this is the biggie!), and prepare our land for building our new home....we need more focus. . . . .. our solution; we've decided to get rid of everything with a screen.

all TV's, gameboys, playstations, nintendos....and yes....the computer will be going into storage for 30 days. it will allow us to get moving with our lives and hopefully break a few bad habits.


i'm going to miss the computer and all of you on TT and i'll miss news shows, and march madness on TV....the boys will go nuts the first couple days without the PS2 and cartoons. but we'll manage and i'm sure well get alot done. it's kindof like an adventure....a test....like fasting or something, lol. i am concerned about having TV coverage in case a war starts or we are attacked again, but the storage unit is very close to here, so i could just go snag a tv in that event.


so anyways, ya'll got till Sunday night to rip me, hug me, kick me, curse me, love me, hate me, call me stupid or insult my dog.....i'll be back in 30 days. there are some of the arkansas clansters that i would like to keep up with for trips and such, so if ya'll(you know who you are) would please e-mail me at stratdewd@aol.com and we'll exchange phone numbers.

Actually, what you are doing is one of the most practical things I've ever heard anybody do to accomplish your aims. It will probably do your kids some good. Maple and I did something like that on a smaller level. We took the box away from the kids for behavior reasons and, at the same time, turned our attention to them. We found that we did more together (and enjoyed it). And when the kids were together, they did some very constructive things. Good luck. I'll miss ya, ya right wing bastard!”

My wife and I only let our boyu (3 years old) watch stuff that has some educational value. Thomas the Train, Dora the Explorer, etc...as trashy as we get to is Rollie Pollie Ollies (harmless, I believe). Sponge Bob has no educatinal value, the last time I let my son watch 15 minutes of it, he later picked up on one of the charaters telling the other that they hated them.....troubling moment in my household.... We always make a very big effort to make sure we talk about what on the TV (when it's on).”
