He performed very well in the home opener. Tomorrow will show if the kid truly has ice water in his veins!” 2:34:21 PM 4/15/04 “Jeez the Cubs are shellacing the Pirates today. It's 9-1, top of the sixth. Cubs have 4 homers already.” 3:31:31 PM 4/15/04 “The Phils were trying to lose today, but Lieby cranked a three-run dinger and they won. Now 2-6. We may not lose another game!” 3:58:56 PM 4/15/04 “The Cubs continue to prove that there's no such thing as a safe lead. It's now 10-5, and Pittsburgh just hit back-to-back homers in the top of the ninth.” 4:27:51 PM 4/15/04 Whew “Cubs win anyway.” 4:31:53 PM 4/15/04 “I've got two Cubs pitchers on my fantasy baseball team: Wood and Zambrano. They've done me very good so far, and it'll only continue. Bummer about Prior, but once they get him back... look out!” 5:59:58 PM 4/15/04 “Dang Royals. Swept by the ChiSox.” 6:09:54 PM 4/15/04 Holy Crap!!! “I just loaded up Gameday from MLB.com.. where you can follow the games live over the internet. I had been using ESPN's, but MLB's is way better! It shows strike zones, and a 2D proportional graphic of the ballpark complete with indicators of where pop flys were caught and what not... very cool!!!! Best of all it's free. If you haven't checked it out yet, do so. Go BoSox!” 6:15:58 PM 4/15/04 “When Wood is in the groove, he's unstoppable. Zambrano often has a bad first inning, then he gets settled down.” 9:38:16 PM 4/15/04 “Jason Schmidt makes his '04 debut tonight. I think it's a mistake - the way they've been talking about his shoulder just doesn't sound good. I have a bad feeling that he has some major problems there. I guess time will tell. Beat the stinkin' Dodgers!” 9:07:27 AM 4/16/04 “Giants must prevail over the hated enemy Dodgers!” 9:09:33 AM 4/16/04 “Barry, et. al. will be back in the lineup tonight. Crush the blue menace from below!! One of these days I'll have to make the trek to Dodger Stadium...proudly wearing black and orange, of course!” 9:13:14 AM 4/16/04 WHAT GIVES?!?! “I wake up from my slumber, only to find there have been no posts the entire day on tonight's Red Sox vs. Yankees series?! For shame... FOR SHAME!!!! Yankees suck! Yankees suck! Yankees suck!” 4:59:20 PM 4/16/04 “Are those the two teams from Cleveland or somewhere?” 5:10:10 PM 4/16/04 “It's only April, and this game already possesses the intense hatrid equal to Hitler, Bin Laden, and Rosie O'Donnell combined.” 5:38:04 PM 4/16/04 “I heard someone ask this question today. Can anyone name a big game that the Red Sox have won against the Yankees.” 6:24:19 PM 4/16/04 “Try just now. YANKEES SUCK!!!!! RED SOX WIN!!!!!!!” 10:36:22 PM 4/16/04 I'm Hearing Crickets.... “It's awfully quiet in here. Where are the Yankee fans? Crying because they're scared their Evil Empire is crumbling? Hee hee hee... Red Sox spank the Yankmees again! Schilling looked great. I watched the game on MLB-TV on my computer, which, by the way, is awesome. My oh my, now all the Yankmees can hope to do is split the series with the BoSox. Pauvre Yankmees...” 6:01:43 PM 4/17/04 “It's a good day in the baseball world when Steiny's boys get spanked. Just wish the Royals wouldn't wait until they were down by six runs to start playing baseball. Dodgers win 3-2 over the Giants. C'mon, Giants, get it together.” 6:47:18 PM 4/17/04 “dont know if the braves won or not but they suck anyways...they never fail to build up expectations and hope then crush them in post season...” 10:27:01 PM 4/17/04 “Yankmees sneak in a win against the BoSox today. They actually stand a chance at squeeking away with a split series with Kevin Brown pitching tomorrow. Nomah's recovery is reportedly coming along. Shouldn't be but a few more weeks. Same with Trot.” 4:57:13 PM 4/18/04 “Arg! 3 straight 1-run losses to the evil blue menace from LA! Even with Barry's 2 homers today! Arg! Arg! [Just picture me stomping around the house saying "Arg!" over and over...]” 7:06:02 PM 4/18/04 “Enough about the big leagues! Cameron's li'l Tigers have their 4th game of the season tomorrow evening. The boys looked pretty good in practice today - can you stand the anticipation?!” 7:14:41 PM 4/18/04 “Phils swept the 'Spos and now it's time to pay the fish back!” 7:30:28 PM 4/18/04 “Can I drag out the time-worn, over-used, cliche to say that the season is young. I promise not to freak out until June.” 7:58:06 PM 4/18/04 “Forgot to mention that I incurred painful strawberries diving after (well, OK, sliding toward) a soft line drive during the kids' practice this morning. That'll teach a bunch of 9-year-olds to doubt my resolve!” 10:34:07 PM 4/18/04 Yuck the Fankees!!!! “Red Sox beat the Yankmees 5-4! They rightfully win the series three games to one. Poor little Evil Empire. Boy, you Yankmee fans sure are quiet. :-)” 3:00:39 PM 4/19/04 “T minus 2 hours 7 minutes to game time for the li'l Tigers. It could rain - aaack!! Maybe someday I'll do a live webcast of one of their games!” 4:34:20 PM 4/19/04 “Not nearly as quiet as it will be in Fem-way park in October Fartex!” 7:31:29 PM 4/19/04 “Woo-hoo! The li'l Tigers evened their record last night in miserable wet, windy, freezing weather in a thriller, 10-8. Our pitchers were uncharacteristically wild, walking and hitting several batters (guess it's hard to pitch straight when your hands are numb). After a terrible first 4 innings in the field (errors!), the kids turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the fifth on a two-hop rocket hit with runners on first and third and us up by a run, 5-4. The kids celebrated like they'd won the World Series. We scrapped out 5 runs in the top of the 6th, all with 2 outs. In the bottom, we had the manager's son pitching, an 8-year-old with attitude and a rifle for an arm. He just doesn't know where the ball's going. Cameron was catcher. After a walk, Ray threw a ball in the dirt which went to the backstop. It bounced back hard, Cam grabbed and fired an amazing throw to 2nd, so good that the runner on first stopped halfway to 2nd. Our SS overthrew first, though, so the kid made it anyway. Then, with 2 outs, 4 runs in, the score 10-8, and the bases jammed, Ray threw another wild pitch that bounced off the backstop and up the third base line. The runner came toward home. Cam pounced on the ball and lunged back toward the baseline, chasing the runner out of the baseline, so he was called out. End of game! Wild celebration ensued!” 7:38:45 AM 4/20/04 “Cool deal, Bowlderman! Good to see the Tigers improving. Dream on SirPete... all that money the players must be weighing down their bats. I give Steinbrennar until the end of the week before he explodes to the media.” 7:42:58 AM 4/20/04 “Off to see the Astros and Cards, I'll think of ya'll while I'm downing a dog and brew.” 3:24:29 PM 4/20/04 “Woooo Hooooooo Our local Single A team is now 2 and NINE. Lousy bums!!” 3:36:33 PM 4/20/04 Tee Ball Charlie Foxtrot “Okay, so my 6yrold son is in T-ball again this year, but it's not going as smoothly as in years past. This is my fifth year as a T-ball parent, and it's by far the worst experience. The coach this year cannot make a decision to save his life, and insists on coaching the team like the kids are 15. He's difficult to deal with because he takes offense easily. Last night, they were scheduled to have a game at 5:30. When we arrive, it turns out that there are two teams waiting to play us. The week before last, a couple of games got canceled, so whoever did the rescheduling totally screwed it up. One of the teams who showed up were supposed to play our school's other T-ball team. The other team was the one we were originally scheduled to play, and we play them. Then, at about 6:15 yet another team shows up to play my son's team. We finally get our coach to go ahead and agree to stop our first game, (because we're way over time) ostensibly so we can start the next game. But most of the parents decide that they need to get their kids home and get supper in them (it's nearly 7:00PM now) and leave taking their kids with them. Our coach is completely befuddled that the parents have no interest in playing the second game that they hadn't planned for and had no idea was going to happen until they got there that evening. When he figures this out, he tells us "I'll be back in five minutes." I look at my wife and say "We're leaving," and we go. I kinda doubt if my son will be playing T-ball next year, especially if this joker is one of the coaches again.” 3:46:18 PM 4/20/04 “Bummer, bit. My first year of coaching was for t-ball. Of course, given the age of the kids, I didn't plan for a lot of practicing. So I get a phone call from one of the parents who was "concerned about the lack of organization." He had his kid moved to another team. (I have since gotten to know him through other things and he's really an OK guy....) We went on to have more than our share of fun, not to mention play better baseball than most other teams. I enjoy the slightly increased intensity as the kids have gotten older, but we're always finding something to laugh about - I think I mentioned before that one of the requirements on the team is that the kids have to laugh at my jokes!” 4:42:29 PM 4/20/04 “Yah, this guy thinks it's all about winning...T-ball is all about the kids just having fun.” 8:02:59 PM 4/20/04 “yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah....see you in the funny papers buddy BTW I got 4 seats to the last game between the Yanks and the Dead Sox for the year 9/19/04 in the Bronx who hooo” 9:14:28 PM 4/20/04 “Nice score with the tickets! Let me just say "so so very very sorry" in advance. ;-)” 9:17:46 PM 4/20/04 “Indians get a Royal whuppin'! 15-5. I wish we could play Cleveland more often.” 3:48:21 PM 4/21/04 “Artex, by the time that game comes up Terry Francona will have the Bosox wondering what that damn white round thing is that keeps bouncing past them, and Schilling will be running the pitching staff. They will finish the season five games behind the stinking Yankmes.” 5:15:39 PM 4/21/04 “The Yankmees very well might finish ahead of the BoSox, but Boston should still get the wildcard. I predict the Yankees won't make it past the ALCS.” 6:16:57 PM 4/21/04 Marty “your posts remind me of my lil' league coaching days. Those games were more exciting than any professional game I'd ever seen. Maybe we need to hear everyone's best Little League story!” 6:19:48 PM 4/21/04 “I remember the last game Tito managed for the Phillies. I kept wondering why he even showed up at the ballpark, since they had already announced that he was gone. I found out why. He hadn't poisoned the team enough. If I remember correctly, the umps even declined to put him out of his misery and toss him when he squawked at a call.” 6:20:15 PM 4/21/04 Prediction “Tito and Manny will have a meltdown of epic proportions before the year is over, with Manny being on the trading block.” 6:24:22 PM 4/21/04 “As a true yankee fan I gotta tell ya Artex as long as you guys continue to either not see the world series or get there so bludgened after playing us that you can't win is a successful season. It's not all about winning it's about just beating you! The curse my friend lives in all of us!!!!!” 7:55:13 PM 4/21/04 “The best trick the devil ever pulled was make you believe he didn't exist.” 7:57:51 PM 4/21/04 T-ball “Well, my son's team finally won a game. Up to now, they have all been ties. But we only made it through two innings, because the coach was late to the game, and because he takes frickin' forever to get things organized... But hey, at least the kids won, right? lol... We have two games left. He wants to have a practice tomorrow. I told him that, uh, we had a lot of stuff to do tomorrow, and it was doubtful my son would be there. We barely had enough kids to play today. I wonder why...” 8:18:21 PM 4/21/04 My Best LL Story “Well, technically, it was the much lower key summer rec league I played in. Our team (6th graders I think) was 0-3 or something, and we showed up for our game and started warming up. Well, one kid reached to his side to catch a ball, just as another one was coming toward him from the kids next to him. Whap! Hit him in the cheek, blood all over, coach takes him to the hospital. So the other coach (who we had all played for the previous year) took over for our coach (all we had to do was bat and field and we already knew how to do that, so not sure what he was taking over). First inning we scored 14 runs. Finally, they made us take the field even though we only had one out. 2nd inning we got 9 more and again had to go out with only one out. When our coach came back we begged him not to come back on the field! We had a good laugh about that one - best coach I ever had....” 8:47:17 PM 4/21/04 “I have to admit, the Phillies are finding more and more creative ways to lose to the Fish! Have I mentioned that I hate Mike Lowell? Okay, I hate Mike Lowell!” 8:58:31 AM 4/22/04 “"The curse my friend lives in all of us!!!!!" sirpete Amen Brother !!!!! Bawston Babe Bucky Buckner Boone 1918 3 game series this weeken in the STADIUM....A-Rod is looking alive too... The bats will be heating up! Also as far as the pitching, Georgie will make sure that it is taken care of. Geo, I feel for ya! the phillies are not looking to good bud!” 9:15:28 AM 4/22/04 Jump to Page << prev
