Where is the outrage about Jason Grimsley? The cops went busting into his place yesterday to collect steroid stuff. Obviously, he's guilty of using steroids. I'm sure he'll be harrassed and booed whereever he goes from now on, and everyone will be clamoring to erase whatever good pitching he's done in his career, right?” 8:56:27 AM 6/07/06 “Steve Finley is my new hero. His leadoff-the-game homer last night was #300, adding him as only the 6th ever to reach that and 300 SBs. Oh, did I mention he's 41 years old and leading the league in triples?!” 10:13:34 AM 6/15/06 “When will this season end?” 11:28:35 AM 6/15/06 “Hah! I just checked the standings, geo. Our teams have identical records. Yours is in 2nd place, mine is in last. But you're 8½ games out; we're only 2. Weird, huh?” 12:25:37 PM 6/15/06 “It will be 9 1/2 by the time I go home.” 12:48:03 PM 6/15/06 “How can the D-backs gain 7½ games on us by the time you get home?!” 12:53:47 PM 6/15/06 “I'm talking about the Mutts and the Phutiles, not the Grunts and the Doodlebugs.” 1:01:00 PM 6/15/06 “Whew! I knew the Giants could lose ground in a hurry, but that woulda been a record!!” 2:39:54 PM 6/15/06 “Matt Cain needs 5 more outs to get a no-hitter....” 10:19:50 PM 6/19/06 “Called third strike! Four to go....” 10:21:22 PM 6/19/06 “Dangit! I messed it up by saying no-hitter! Figgins got a clean single....” 10:24:43 PM 6/19/06 Minor League; major fit “When the story opens, click on the video link for the best baseball entertainment of the day: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/more/06/26/manager.ejection.ap/index.html?cnn=yes” 9:37:18 AM 6/26/06 “Hee hee! Loved it when he poured the gatorade on home plate!” 9:57:01 AM 6/26/06 “If you're gonna get tossed from the game, no sense leaving without letting them know how you really feel.” 10:10:49 AM 6/26/06 “Well Conk, let me be the first to congratulate you on the NL East title. How about that catch Coco Crisp made???” 12:01:09 PM 6/30/06 “I thought the Fillies were going to make a race of it, but it looks like they've already given up. Nice seeing Bobby Cox in the cellar, though....” 1:52:12 PM 6/30/06 “Sound coming from basement: "Leo .... Leeeeyo ...... Leeeeeeeeyoooooooooo?"” 3:50:47 PM 6/30/06 6:38:31 AM 7/07/06 “I'm surprised Geo hasn't been bragging about his Philly phellas hitting all those batting practice home runs yesterday, especially since he hasn't had much else to brag about lately....” 3:16:13 PM 7/11/06 “Yawn. AL takes it again. Phil Garner decides to put Trevor Hoffman in to pitch the 9th and save the 2-1 win. The announcers start yapping about how his money pitch is the change up. After a couple of come-backers, whack, whack, whack, and it's 3-2! So I got to thinking.... Hoffman's pitch is the change. That's a pitch that is successful by fooling the batters. Hoffman is pretty successful with it - basically, around 95% of the hitters will get pretty fooled by it. Um, one problem: it's the other 5% that are playing in the All-Star game! That's probably why Hoffman's career ERA in All-Star games is, like, around 12.00.... I think Garner needed to have some flame-thrower out there instead of a magician. I guess I just don't know anything about baseball.... last edited: 7/12/06 2:39:47 PM” 2:37:15 PM 7/12/06 “I've got tickets for the Reds game Sunday. Supposed to be in the 90s with very high humidity. This is going to test my limits as a baseball fan.” 4:00:19 PM 7/12/06 “I've got tickets for the Reds game Sunday. The Phils beat us 14-6. Ouch.” 9:54:21 PM 7/15/06 “You Yank-mes fans got a good solid, consistent outfielder. Sorry to see him leave Philly!” 3:50:22 PM 7/30/06 “Anybody have a closer we could borrow for a few months?” 9:45:20 AM 7/31/06 “At half past the trading deadline, there is no truth to the rumor that Pat Gillick traded himself to the Red Sox for two prospects and a player to be named later.” 3:25:29 PM 7/31/06 “Ha! Hey, where ya' been, geo?!” 3:40:27 PM 7/31/06 “The Cubbies announced the other day that Dusty's job was safe. Clearly, he'll be fired within a week....” 1:59:11 PM 8/01/06 “Go Twinkies!” 2:11:24 PM 8/01/06 “Nine and counting....” 10:32:35 AM 8/02/06 Chorizo Benched 2:14:57 PM 8/02/06 “Thank God they're protecting us from unauthorized sausages running around the field! Probably snorted testosterone too!” 2:22:28 PM 8/02/06 “I guess Chorizo is an illegal immigrant!” 2:27:11 PM 8/02/06 “Jethro cost us another game last night. "We might coulda like won it like, except like we lost it."” 3:29:35 PM 9/01/06 “school fall ball beguins soon.” 5:22:11 PM 9/01/06 “You should see Ryan Howard Hit that ball! Yes Bowlder, he gets managers to wiggle four fingers almost as much as Barry Bongs. That's life. We need a good hitter to protect him. Jeff Conine's not too shabby, but we do need a bopper to follow him.” 3:04:39 PM 9/14/06 “Howard: 142 Games, 56 HR, 86 BB (1 BB per 1.65 games; 1 BB per 1.5 HR) Bonds: 118 Games, 24 HR, 110 BB (1 BB per 1.07 games; 1 BB per 4.6 HR) Bonds is starting to find his batting stroke over the past couple weeks, but it made no sense to walk him earlier this season....” 3:23:25 PM 9/14/06 “They've walked Howard to fill up the bases and to put the winning run on. What's funny is that he often scores when they do that. So somebody picks him up most of the time.” 3:31:00 PM 9/14/06 “Ha! So much for the Astros' wildcard hopes! Payback!” 9:14:50 AM 9/18/06 “Schmidt and Cain and pray for rain...” 10:03:13 AM 9/18/06 “That much rain in Cally-fornyah can only bring mudslides.” 11:46:50 AM 9/18/06 “Woo-hoo! 3 in the top of the first for the Giants!! Ruh-roh - 6 in the bottom of the first for the Rockies. Then 3 in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It's now 18-6. But it's only the 6th inning!! A couple of long passes into the end zone and we'll be right back in this one!” 10:04:45 PM 9/18/06 “Scranton Wilkes Barre will be the Yankees AAA team for 2007. Phillies AAA goes to Ottowa for one season before locating to the Lehigh Valley in 2008.” 11:38:33 AM 9/22/06 “It came down to the Yankees or Mets AAA team. I would have preferred the Mets, but I think the Yankees AAA team will put more people in the seats than the Mets would have.” 11:56:15 AM 9/22/06 “Reputedly the Yankees fans outnumber the Phillies fans by 3-1 in SWB. They didn't even list the Mets fans.” 1:03:03 PM 9/22/06 “I've been to that stadium, it's pretty nice.” 10:22:57 PM 9/22/06 “Giants are toast. 4 runs in the top of the first, down 5-4 after one. Fell behind 9-6. Came back, went ahead 12-10. Lost 13-12. Ugh. I think I'll send in my resume and offer to pitch for them next year.” 10:36:07 AM 9/23/06 “Go Twins!” 10:48:42 AM 9/23/06 “Go Tigers!” 11:00:58 AM 9/23/06 “Another win for the Phightins. I'm going to tomorrow's game and also Monday night's. WooHoooo ... a pennant race!” 5:03:56 PM 9/23/06 Jump to Page << prev
