The cops went busting into his place yesterday to collect steroid stuff. Obviously, he's guilty of using steroids. I'm sure he'll be harrassed and booed whereever he goes from now on, and everyone will be clamoring to erase whatever good pitching he's done in his career, right?”

“Steve Finley is my new hero. His leadoff-the-game homer last night was #300, adding him as only the 6th ever to reach that and 300 SBs. Oh, did I mention he's 41 years old and leading the league in triples?!”

Phil Garner decides to put Trevor Hoffman in to pitch the 9th and save the 2-1 win. The announcers start yapping about how his money pitch is the change up. After a couple of come-backers, whack, whack, whack, and it's 3-2!

So I got to thinking.... Hoffman's pitch is the change. That's a pitch that is successful by fooling the batters. Hoffman is pretty successful with it - basically, around 95% of the hitters will get pretty fooled by it. Um, one problem: it's the other 5% that are playing in the All-Star game! That's probably why Hoffman's career ERA in All-Star games is, like, around 12.00....

I think Garner needed to have some flame-thrower out there instead of a magician. I guess I just don't know anything about baseball....
