The next three games are the ones that count Bowlder.

We have Noah Lowrie going tonight - the arm of the future for us! Only 2 runs allowed in last 3 starts, covering around 23 IP. Go Noah!

Told ya to watch out for that kid, Lowrie.

Round one to the Gigantes!

I'm at the plant Tuesday mornings, Bowlder. There are some things in life that take precedence over TT.

Yeah, the Phillies do not think they can play ball after across the country flights like their opponents do.

Big series starts tonight for the Sox in Minnesota. Hopefully Rowand brings the good luck black panties.

We could really use the sweep.

Tomko going tonight. He's been a bit of a disappointment this season, and was rumored to be on the chopping block until we released Reuter. On the other hand, he pitched really really well in the last 2 months of the season last year, so he'll probably pitch a no-hitter or something tonight....

If Padilla is conscious, the Giants will win. If he's unconscious, the Giants don't stand a chance.

I have one word about last night's game: Ouch.

Might as well give up on tonight's game, geo. We have Brad Hennessey going, one of only two pitchers to provide all of the offense for their teams in a win. Hennessey pitched a shutout earlier in the season and hit a 3-run HR to win 3-0. Also, in his last outing, he broke up the other guy's no-hitter with a single. Oh, and he pitched pretty good, too.

The cops are looking for Dwight Gooden again. He got pulled for DUI, could not even get out of the car, and sped off from the cop that stopped him.

Looks like a hitters' duel tonight, Bowlder.

Pitching matchup
PHI: RHP Cory Lidle
• 9-10, 4.64 ERA in 2005
• 0-0, 8.44 ERA in 2005 vs. SF

SF: RHP Brad Hennessey
• 4-5, 5.09 ERA in 2005
• 0-1, 27.00 in 2005 vs. PHI

Unfortunately, I will be off to dreamland about the time the thing starts.

PHILS WIN

PHILS WIN

Send no trinkets, Bowlder. You need you money to buy equipment for that young catcher.

I wonder if Cory Lidle was really hurt or Charlie Manuel told him he was hurt in order to bring in Tejeda.

The Phillies now have a crucial series against the Mutts in NY. They needed a win last night and didn't get it when Padilla imploded. He should have been on a shorter leash than that.

Looks like I left town at a good time, what with Geo harrassing me about that meaningless series against the Sillies. Since then, my boys have won 8 out of the last 11 and have vaulted into 2nd place, only 5 games back of the Madres!! Who needs some stinkin' wild card spot when you can win the division?!

BTW, I was camping!

Well the Grunts went in one direction and the Phutiles in quite another.

Paging Doctor Heimlich, Doctor Heimlich, please report to the Phillies dugout immediately.

Jeff Kent rips the Grunts. I love it.

We hate Kent. After lying about getting hurt on his motorcycle, he singlehandedly bumbled the Giants out of the playoffs with about 15 errors in one series. Now he decides to start winning games?!

BowlderSon went to the A's game last night. Disappointed in the loss, but, hey, he got the Mark Kotsay bobblehead!!

The White Sox won their 6th in a row last night! Two more against the mighty Royals then the weekend series against the Angels.

I will be at the Saturday game.

Last night was the first time Wags cost us a game versus the Astros. They ran like crazy because they knew exactly how much time he takes to the plate.

Then too, Pratt had to change gloves because of a loose lace and double-clutched trying to get the ball out of the mitt. But those bases were already stolen. All it would have done is make the plays a little close.

The other night, Scott Eyre got a Dodger to hit a weak grounder back to him with 2 out and 2 on with a 2-run lead in the 8th. It promptly went under his glove. Fortunately, Omar Vizquel was paying attention and scooped and fired to first to retire the side. Eyre walked sheepishly off the mound looking at his glove to try to find the hole in it.

That's the first thing you need to know about playing baseball. Always look for the hole in the glove or the bat.

I was thinking to myself one night that major leaguers looks just as stupid as we do when they boot the ball. At least I was major league in one respect ...!
Geobeet

I was major league in the way at I swung at sliders in the dirt.
ChuckD

I swear there is nothing a human being can do to look uncoordinated like swinging at a slider in the ndirt.

My advice to those people is, "Let's go find a batting cage."

No nasty sliders, mind you, but after they flail away at blazing fast 60 MPH pitches and work up a handful of blisters, they usually shut their pie holes.

There is not a whole lot a hitter can do about a slider in the dirt off the plate. Reminds me of my second marriage. Sure looked good at first, but it went south in a hurry.

Yankees beat the Sox 8-4 last night behind some pretty sloppy defense by Damen and Co. Yanks lead the season series 8-6 with 5 games left between them. Loosen up those arms Artex buddy, you might be doing pushups after all! ;-)

OK, the Sox beat up the Yanks pretty bad today 9-2. Shilling pitched very well! Season series 8-7 Yanks with 4 more to go.

Yanks Won 1-0!!!!! Great pitching all around!! Season Series 9-7! Yanks need 1 win in 3 games to clinch. Ya know it doesn't mean crap if they don't make the playoffs.....Except, I don't like pushups!!! LOL

Like other teams in MLB, the Phillies are wearing red cross emblems on the sides of their batting helmets. With their red unis, they look like Swiss Army knives.
Geobeet

LOL, I really like the sentiment, but they sure look ugly. A red cross arm band would have sufficed.

Yeah, they look kind of tacky, like they just slapped some cheap stickers on. I wonder how much the players are donating. I'm sure some are, but it would be interesting to know if they're donating proportional to their salaries.

Watched Bonds's first game back the other night. His first AB was pretty amazing. 11 pitches, and he missed a dinger by about a foot to almost dead center. Later in the game, he also swung at some pitches he never would have swung at, so he is still a little rusty. Also, assuming he was on steroids and isn't now, I find it interesting that everyone used his "puffed up" face and body as "proof" that he was on steroids, yet I think he's fatter now than a year ago. While it looks like he did use steroids before, it looks like he just got fat like the rest of us as we age.

Everybody's favorite player played his first road game since the BALCO hearings last night. The booing bothered him so much he hit a homer into the upper deck. The Nats were so afraid he'd do it again in the 9th with a man on, they walked him. So Alou hit a homer instead. Giants win.

Barry was asked about the fan treatment afterward. He said that he's been getting booed by fans for years and years and it's nothing new.

So, presumably, with all the publicity, he's off of steroids now, right? He's hitting .316 (.842 slugging) with an on-base pct. of .417. 3 dingers in 7 games.
