I saw a guy in Yankee pinstripes to that about five times one night in Baltimore. It was a guy named Gene Michaels, playing (attempting to play is more like it) shortstop. Everything hit to him went through the five-hole. 'Course, he had me yelling that he'd boot it every time, so he might have been distracted.

"Coming to you Gene, ... don't boot it. OOOPS, ya did it again Gene!"

Now the Orioles don't suck. They're not that good, thanks to Peter Dipwad.

BTW, old O's announcer Chuck Thompson passed on last week. Miss Agnes is in mourning, but at least the beer's cold. RIP Chuck, and enjoy those games in the sky. He was a good one, was Chuck Thompson.

That sign is lame! Besides, if the Red Sox suck, than the Yankees suck even more because the Red Sox humiliated them in the ALCS. So there! Nanni nanni boo boo, stick your head in doo doo!

My Red Sux fan sports editor was talking to me yesterday about Philadelphia teams choking, and I told him he should know all about choking.

One Whirled Series does not erase decades of choking.

Wind out of his sails, he had to agree.

Tito did not have to do a whole lot of managing last year. Let's see what happens this year.

No, his wasn't...when the URL is that long, you have to get the field to scroll to highlight it all. You do that by lowering the pointer below the field, then it will scroll down, allowing you to highlight the entire contents of the field.

Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Edgar Renteria, Jason Varitek and Matt Clement have all been informed that they're on my fantasy baseball team. Obviously, this is a huge incentive for them to perform even better this year. It practically guarantees another Red Sox victory in the World Series.

During the Phillies-Yankees game last night, they showed George Steinbrenner sitting in a mezzanine section of Legends Field all by his lonesome, not another person in sight.

Phillies announcer Chris Wheeler said, "And there's George Steinbrenner along with all his friends."

Barry Bonds has become a pitiful wretch, railing out at the media for bringing him down. Hey Barry, look in the mirror!

I think the home run figures should be stripped for guys who took steroids, and that includes Big "I'm not saying anything" Mac!

This situation stinks. Even after being caught, they continue to lie and rail out at everybody but themselves. If baseball doesn't clean up this cesspool, people are going to be very turned off. I had thought that by this point, MLB would have taken some measures in response to the revelations.

It's an insult to guys like Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, and Hank Aaron who came by their records without benefit of performance enhancing steroids. Hell, one could even argue that Ruth's lifestyle worked against him, which it definitely did in the waning days of his career.

Last year the Phillies had a losing record in spring training and the season. The players blamed Larry Bowa. He was fired at the end of the season - replaced by super nice guy Charlie Manuel.

This year the Phillies had a losing record in spring training. I wonder if it's still Larry Bowa's fault.

You dont want a super-nice guy managing your sports team. Mike Riley was the super-nice Charger coach. The Chargers sucked ass under him, and he would say "You guys are all still winners in my book".

Go Padres!

LMAO, when Johnny Podres was the successful pitching coach for the Phillies, he went out to settle down a pitcher who had pitched himself into trouble.

"You're doing great," Pods told him.

"Pods, what game are you watching?" the pitcher replied.

It's great when players acknowledge when they aren't doing well. Like the time my dad was pitching badly in a spring training game and the manager was basically letting him continue so he would pitch his way off the roster. So after yet another hit, he took the ball and threw it over the center field fence to get himself thrown out of the game....
