Hey mutt – you know where you can stuff that quid pro quo, don't you? Lol. Sometimes self-examination is painful, huh?

you tell me. you make an incredibly lame assertion about me being a racist, and then cower away from providing a coherent explanation. what does your self-examination tell you about that?

Problems:
#1 Afgani: We are at war with them, or were (however you want to take a look at it). When two factions go to war, you use power/force and have enough people to occupy the opposing faction's land. We have not done that. If we went in as an occupying force, the exsisting problems in Afghai would not be there. Instead, we have our BEST forces over there, but no occupying army. How can we govern the area until the government can get on it's feet? This stuation is doomed to fail because of this one simple thing! In war, you can not expect success if you cannot occupy correctly.

Korea: They're gonna do what they want until they are taken out. They have nothing to loose at this point. They are one step away from being Afgani, except they have some technology and 'da bomb, kinda like a Paki in the Far East. Korea in it's persent condition is a REAL danger because of what it has and where it's located. The sqweeze should be put on them ASAP.

China: It's aorund because we need them to be. We want there goods, they want our money. More importantly, we need them as a threat. How else can we justify the billions and billions of dollars spent on weapons? Do you think that either of us really want war between us? No! If either did, Tawain would be the perfect excuse. Think about this: Why is it that we have a "One China" policy that goes against what we stand for - freedom. Everytime someone inthe adinistration is pressured on this point, they clam up and state policy. What BS!

We need to cut the Bull#&%!$ and get on with what is really important in this world. At the rate we are all going, this planet might be around in the not too distant future. Lack of repect, resentment, loathing, arrigance, poverty, lack of eduction contribute to war. We need to help each other out, or there will be nothing to fight over. Let's get together, get off the planet and fullfill our future. The future IS NOW, if we're will to sacifice!

The Solution!
The polarization here has a simple solution. Those that don't like it----stop paying taxes. Those who like it can pay more to make up the difference. All of you that want this war---go get a home loan and send it to the 'Scrub'.

Excellent points re: afghanistan and NK, laqtis

The One China policy is nothing but a cowardly appeasement strategy designed to benefit business here in the U.S.

If there is One China, then Taipai is the legitimate govt - not Beijing.

I would love to be able to not pay my taxes because I don't agree with what there doing, but alas, my bp skills are not good enough to provide for my wife and kid(s) while I'm on the run.....

"I would disagree that what you employed was a rhetorical device --- it was more of a gross generalization: shorthand for 'all you people' (whomever you think 'those people' are and what they may think or say on any given subject)."

Tilt"

I agree that it was a generalization, but not at all 'gross'. I would say more of a specific generalization, if you will ;-). It wasn't an "all you people" comment, but a "the people who argued that" comment. My mistake was in assuming that mtnsteve would have been consistant in his use of the "holy war" argument. I have already given my sincerest apologies to mtnsteve. I am awaiting either my absolution, or my just punishment for my unfounded attack.

And I always use a version of the same username when online. You see i tried using multiple usernames early on in my internet life, but I am a Gemini (the twin) and would often end up arguing with my other online selves.

You have complete and total absolution....

I try not to take stuff online too seriously, I have even been known to switch sides in the middle of an argument just to watch the reaction.

Now if were in the same tent, snowbound for a few days, I might be figuring out ways to dispose of the body ; )
