Did anyone else see the AOL News??
This mornig on AOL's opennig poage where the "news" flashes past they ran a bit on George "Dubya" Bushes latest "muscle (headed) flexing" with regards to Iraq.

Apparently Dubya has stated in his latest press confrence that "The U.S. will not hesitate in using Overwhelming Force, including nuclear weapons, if provoked or attacked with other weapons of mass destruction such as chemical or bioweapons".

I just knew that idiot was itching to push the big red button.

We shoulda turn Iraq into a big sheet of glass years ago.

His dad did this to deter them from using WMD during the Gulf War. This I think is S.O.P. for show that we're not #&%!$ing around.

But I do agree. This past month, he's been real "itchy trigger finger".

For the first time that I can think of WE are the agressor. The US has always defended itself, or come to the aid of allies, but we have never STARTED a war. That's where Dubya is heading.

I have yet to see any concrete evidence linking Iraq with Sept 11. Dubya is picking a fight. I don't like what that little idiot is doing to my country.

Big Wave Dave, you show who is the real idiot in the manner in which you chose to express your opinions. Your point may be worthwhile, maybe not, but I can't see past the venemous ranting of the little boy you chose to portray yourself as.

Well, how about this:

Everyone in the world sees us as the "world cop". We are the power behind the UN. Clinton #&%!$ed up with with no world policy and let everything go to hell. Why wasn't the terms of surrender honored by Iraq (This is how world wars start)? When the weapons inspectors were kicked out, that was the time to "sick'em". I don't know if I agree with whats going on, but no matter what we do (we could drop a billion dollars in aid in any country in the world, they'd take it and still tell us to #&%!$ off), most countries have ahd there heads up there ass for so long that we might as well....

So if someone attacks us with a weapon of mass destruction specifically aimed at civilians we don't even have the right to respond with a weapon of mass destruction? Doesn’t sound like were on the attack here. Sounds like were carrying a toothpick to a gun fight.

You mean he let people live as they will and didn't send American Soldiers to every corner of the world to assert our position?

George Sr. got us into Somalia...Clinton got us out.

Chili - when you say "You mean he let people live as they will and didn't send American Soldiers to every corner of the world to assert our position..." are you remembering him abanndoning Afganistan after the Russians pulled out, leaving the door wide open for Al-Queda to set up shop? Us pulling out of Somalia was tragic, we should have taken care of bidness then too. There is a lot of mess to clean up 'round the world because of Clinton. Before you think I'm a Bush backer, think about this: never voted for a Bush in my life and I NEVER will. Bush is a dolt. This is just a situation of having one #&%!$ up cleaning up after another #&%!$ up.

I'm with you, Dave! There has been no provocation that justifies the extremism of this man's rhetoric. I understand the threat is real, but the U.S. can't leap over the diplomatic process just because the administration has a hard on that needs to be scratched. The U.N. weapons inspectors deserve a chance to resolve this without resorting to WW III. I, for one, am no fan of many of these countries that we are courting, but we have to realize that we can't piss off the rest of the world without fear of reprisal on the part of the ever increasing amount of anti-American extremists on this crazy globe. And, for G-d's sake, stop blaming Clinton for every ill on earth. After all, he didn't train and fund Osama. The Reagan administration did that.

Clinton's foreign policy was absolutely horrible (my opinions on his domestic policies are mixed). Clinton squandered influence and a unique chance to shape the post-cold war world. Clinton allowed China's ascendency in a series of cowardly appeasements. That was probably his biggest f-up.

Personally, I think Bush is an idiot for starting a war with Iraq right now. Al Qaeda has regrouped, as is apparent from a series of attacks in the past couple months. So why is Bush diverting attention to Iraq when AQ is organized elsewhere, and North Korea is actively exporting missiles and pursuing nukes?

Having said that, there are definitely advantages to attacking Iraq. The biggest two are control of ME oil and a powerful military presence in the ME. America stands a real chance of reshaping the ME, securing energy supplies (and gaining leverage over China in the process), and dealing with Islamofascism.

The war in Iraq would be beneficial - if we win. But Bush's priorities right now are screwed up.

He (carter) is very right. I would like to see the US take care of it's own first, before everyone else. Why should we be the ones everyone looks to when our own people need our help. This type of policy would be a great example for the world to follow!

So the U.S. exists in a vacuum, eh? China's ascendency isn't a threat to 'our own'? Strategic energy control isn't important to our own? Islamofascism isn't important to our own?

Look. Mutt nailed it.

Georgie Poorgie came out talking tough about the "War on Terrorism" and instead has shifted focus to the "War on Iraq". They're pretty independent in my opinion.

They arrest alleged Al Queda members about once a month to try and convince the American public he's still committed to that effort but it's really a farce. Afghanistan is a friggin' mess. Al Qaeda has been stepping up attacks around the globe and all Shrub can do is get a boner over the chance to nuke Iraq. That doesn't make me feel any safer and the numbers show the American public is increasingly questioning the move towards American Imperialism.

Osama is still alive and well and he's the mastermind that got us to the climate we're in. As far as I'm concerned, every effort should be made at the moment to capture that SOB. I haven't seen his name in a front-page headline in a while. It's all been Iraq this and Iraq that in an attempt to convince the sheeple that this is what needs to happen right now, for some reason. I say feck dat bullsheet. Let's get back on track with nailing that sum#&%!$ osama and concentrate on pulling the economy out of the shiiter

rosey how do we know that the focus is not Al Queda and Osama? Since when has the press been right? This war nor the Iraq inspections are developing in the public eye.

Remember the Somaliland relief effort was making progress until our troops were forced to bail after the Black Hawk Down Tragedy. The actual operation according to senior officials failed chiefly because of our armament restrictions which came from the White House. Yeah our boys came home alright and were greeted with the most moral deteriorating statement ever to come from an administration.

“It was my understanding that they were volunteers?” Referring to a statement made after a White House briefing on the total lives lost.

China has weapons, the U.S. has WAY more.

In ten to twenty years China will be in the throws of environmental disaster.

They are loosing arable land to desertification and they're polluting their air(and that of other nations) and water at an astounding rate.

Wrong! Every military advancement that China has currently developed is focused toward the ability to neutralize our most relied on military technology. GPS, satellites, radar guidance, are a few examples. They feel that we are a quickly declining World Power socially, politically, and economically and there turn is just around the bend. They are attempting to put themselves in a position to be the next and only World’s Super Power.

I read plenty about what's going on in Afghanistan. Nothing on the US front and plenty on the return to the state they were in before we put troops there. It's back to feuding Taliban warlords who are re-gaining a strong foothold. The U.S. has about 5,000 troops over there currently.

What I don't hear about is efforts to capture Osama. I'm sure there are "behind the scene" efforts to get Osama and I understand the need to keep quiet about specifics to capture him but even some vague statement would suffice. Haven't heard any from our administration.

The focus now is clearly on grabbing oil from Saddam and Osama was a nice gateway/excuse to do that.

If fuel cells really come to fruition in 10-20 years, it'll be interesting to see how global politics change.

Way less pollution, more abundant resource.. the Arabs won't be of much use or interest to us anymore, one would think.
