Call up a gravel company and they'll take care of it. Spirit; Yeah, you might wanna think about taking it a little easy. Unless you wanna go for broke, pun intended. Martyb; Don't ask what can go wrong next. God has a wierd sense of humor, and She does answer prayers.” 10:47:29 AM 11/12/02 More PT Drill Sergeant “Back to the office from PT. It's beginning to get like the Spanish Inquisition. But the stretching obviously will help. Starting off on the exercise bike was fun. Every pedal a mile and a half in low low gear? Hint: Ya gotta get those RPM up there.” 9:19:46 AM 11/13/02 “My Mother is just starting her 4th week. This new kind of pain won't start for awhile yet. Just remember Geo, every pedal is taking you closer to a trail!!” 9:22:14 AM 11/13/02 Thanks T “Got to the trail for a little Sunday. Walked 2.2 miles on the towpath for a moral victory. I get another dose of PT Friday. I will try to get out on Saturday and see if I can't bag a few more miles. It's coming along. I actually started walking normally around the office this afternoon, but the foot hurts tonight. Gotta get on the bed and elevate it, take the rest of the night off. After I go through the exercises. Feel the burn! It is interesting how long the road back is, how incremental the progress is, and how you pay for each little step. But the good thing about this pain is that it is associated with stretching muscles that tightened up from inactivity, and it is a sign that things are slowly getting back to normal. Last Sunday was a siren song. I want more, so I will do what I have to do to get it. The AT by the end of the month! Hope your mom's coming along well. Hope everybody gets well and we can let this thread disappear forever.” 6:09:30 PM 11/13/02 “Sorry Geobeet that the healing takes so long. Have you been reading any new books to while away the time? I've been reading the Harry Potter books again, and I read the Island of the Blue Dolphins again.” 6:26:19 PM 11/13/02 “yeah reading will help! I've been reading the grapes of wrath” 6:27:35 PM 11/13/02 “I really found it hard to concentrate on reading while I was mending. It was even hard concentrating on TV shows. I think I've reverted to the attention span of a gerbil. Time to get on the wheel again! No, I think I'll chew up an egg carton. No, water, I want wat ... wheel, the wheel!” 6:39:19 PM 11/13/02 “Just back from the chiro's office. She said everything looks good, and cleared me to increase the jogging portions of my "workout" from 5 to 6 minutes. Guess the Olympic marathon trials are probably out for next year....” 7:18:31 PM 11/13/02 Stent Removal, OFF THE LIST! “I got my kidney stone stent removed yesterday! I'm still a little sore but I now consider myself OFF THIS LIST! Free, free at last, thank God amighty I'm free at last. :) I know martyb wants details of the stent removal procedure. I had much better drugs this time! I was awake and knew what terrible "things" were going on, but didn't care! I was in a "happy" place. Hee Hee. I think I'm still a little goofy. Long live anaesthesia. I'll miss you fellow injured reserve members and will pop in ever now and then to check on your recovery.” 1:08:54 PM 11/14/02 “Congrats, Stove!! As long as you're using the phrase "stent removal" to describe what DID actually occur, rather than what was on the horizon, you may use it! Now, DON'T COME BACK!!!” 1:20:59 PM 11/14/02 “awwww am i all alone now? :( good luck out there in the world!” 1:22:44 PM 11/14/02 “I'm still here, Spirit, as long as my hip pain continues. And I think Geo probably considers himself still here, too.” 2:11:03 PM 11/14/02 “stove, does that mean you will be back on the trail cooking again soon? hint hint” 2:17:05 PM 11/14/02 “Yes, I have at least three weeks before they cut me loose, not counting the rat poison therapy which continues until mid-March, but I'm not counting that. Stove, we will miss hearing about your kidney quarry, but I'm glad you are shut of it. They told me to stop drinking iced tea. I have no idea what iced tea does to cause kidney stones, but I have not gotten them since and now only drink iced tea occasionally. Of course, they also told me that beer can cause kidney stones, but I quickly discovered it wasn't the beer, but the iced tea. Then again, it might have been none of the above. I have no idea. I think Prowler might still be on the mend too, although he has not mentioned it in awhile. LyndyS had some problems. She may or may not be on the list. (I think some people hide their injuries in order to stay in the game. Others of us cannot very well hide our injuries.)” 3:14:11 PM 11/14/02 Oh no, not iced tea! “That's the national drink of the South. I have it ever day. So far the stones have not been analyzed and the Doc has not told me what NOT to do yet. maple- I hope to make a TT trip soon. I will be making a work trip to Boston for a week before Christmas. Any TT trips going on then within a couple of hundred miles of that area? Thanks Guys.” 5:42:47 PM 11/14/02 “Really, I'm not hiding, just not admitting totally....almost back from the knee strain...not quite yet though. Haven't talked to my doc since last week, she's leaving it up to me wheather or not I may need to see a specialist or not....hopefully not!!! Been on ice and little red pills, I want, no need to get back to some cardio at the gym. We'll see by Monday....” 7:11:08 PM 11/14/02 “Anybody named Skeetah Bait gets my sympathy vote. Get well.” 7:17:54 PM 11/14/02 “Yeah I'm hanging out here still. My knee is still a little dicey. Doesn't hurt much anymore but doesn't feel very strong. I'm going to do some controlled exercise to try to strengthen the muscles around the kneecap before I hike with the loaded pack again.” 9:55:05 PM 11/14/02 “Tea is chock full of oxalic acid. The oxalic acid can combine with calcium to create calcium oxalate, which is one of the more common compounds in kidney stones.” 10:01:31 PM 11/14/02 “Thank you Bit. Kind of like limestone in a way. I wonder whether a combination of iced tea and milk products would make it easier to produce calcium oxalate than just drinking tea alone. This is interesting stuff to learn.” 11:25:35 AM 11/15/02 “Geo, did you read my e-mail yet?” 11:51:47 AM 11/15/02 “Having a hard time getting to Hotmail today. Their electrons must have frozen up overnight!” 11:52:32 AM 11/15/02 “I've heard that, but never read any confirming medical studies. I have a buddy I used to work with who gets kidney stones pretty bad. Iced tea is verboten, and he drinks about a gallon or two of water every day. Writhing on the floor in agony from a passing stone made him a believer...” 12:04:42 PM 11/15/02 “oh well, you would have love it....” 12:27:03 PM 11/15/02 Buggs Bunny reporting for duty! “well went out last night with hubby and had a blast. woke up this morning not understanding why my back HURTS SO BAD!!!!! then i remebered. Men, us woman are not ment to look like Buggs friggin Bunny in bed!!! So im off the trail and EVERYTHING else for a couple of days!” 12:59:36 PM 11/15/02 “He made you put on a bunny suit? Hmm.....kinky.....” 1:01:25 PM 11/15/02 “Nyaaaah, what's up Doc?” 1:02:15 PM 11/15/02 “Kinky... and scary...and just plain odd..., But normal maple. ;)” 1:04:28 PM 11/15/02 “Guess where the carrot is!!” 1:05:25 PM 11/15/02 “If you don't have it, treebeard, then Maple Leaf is even scarier than I thought...” 1:07:45 PM 11/15/02 “you know treebeard, you caught on to this TT thing way to fast!! it took me at least 5 posts to be a wise guy!! I GOT YOUR CARROT RIGHT HERE!! CHOP CHOP” 1:09:22 PM 11/15/02 “or should I say CRUNCH CRUNCH” 1:09:39 PM 11/15/02 “(Looking down in amazement) OMG!!! I'm ruined!!” 1:09:50 PM 11/15/02 “Well, that's one way to make sure he's faithful....a little extreme though.” 1:10:34 PM 11/15/02 “Get a room you two!” 1:11:01 PM 11/15/02 “NO im on the LIST” 1:11:32 PM 11/15/02 “She adds a new dimension to the expression 'champing at the bit'” 1:13:08 PM 11/15/02 “Isn't that cute, married people "doing it", and to each other.” 1:16:42 PM 11/15/02 “Almost like Bill and Monica” 1:19:04 PM 11/15/02 “I'm in trouble now....” 1:19:14 PM 11/15/02 “you know this really hurts(my back) I cant even go to the Doctors for this. I can see me now tryng to explain it to him. Maybe ill go see the Doctor that took care of the Banana splinter that was in my finger.” 1:23:14 PM 11/15/02 “Hmmm. From bananas to carrots. Reminiscent of 'Call Any Vegetable' - Frank Zappa (1972)” 1:27:03 PM 11/15/02 “Ok all kidding aside. Is there anyone here that has a bad back? I mean I almost killed myself trying to go to the bathroom. HELP” 2:20:16 PM 11/15/02 “Mine goes out on me from time to time, but it's been a few years since it was so bad I had to lie in bed all day. Alternate hot and cold compresses. Don't use a heating pad, use something with moist heat. Those "cherry pit packs" work great. You can also buy a pad at the drugstore which you microwave and then put on the affected muscle. Mostly, relax.” 2:23:18 PM 11/15/02 “Nyaaaah, what's up Doc?” 2:24:54 PM 11/15/02 “thats why im in my chair at work not getting up to much. trying to stay put = not getting much work down.” 2:25:35 PM 11/15/02 “Oh, and avoid dressing up like a rabbit...” 2:25:36 PM 11/15/02 “My back went out once. I grounded it.” 2:26:42 PM 11/15/02 “You use a copper rod or an aluminum one for that, Geo?” 2:29:23 PM 11/15/02 “thanks guys :)~” 2:29:53 PM 11/15/02 Jump to Page << prev
