I am happy to report that Tarabull's surgery today went very well: she had anterioinferior hook of the acromion process. (it was so cute!) Basically it was a curvature of a bone in the shoulder that was impinging shoulder movement and causing chronic pain. She had it scoped and the doc shaved off the hook. Ta-da!

UHOH.

I'm in deep #&%!$, literally. Tore my calf muscle in a major way while moving lots of cow manure to the garden today. I should of asked for help. CMB yelled at me :( and then he yelled at me some more when I went to finish what I was doing after I had wrapped my leg. Now it's bruising and I can barely hobble on it. OOPS.

I'm still going to try to go hiking Saturday though, I may just not get very far LOL

SC, best to just rest it so it won't get worse. I hurt my leg hiking last Saturday, but didn't tear anything. Sunday, I hiked on it and made it worse. I'm resting it until it feels good enough to hike on again. So far it's doing well and should be okay by the weekend.
I hope you feel better soon.

Rest that leg SC....I tore a muscle in the back of my thigh in college, and because I didn't rest it it STILL bothers me, 19 years later.

Nowslimmer, I have been so busy with myself and my needs to hike , and today as I was driving through the Mountains near where I live I stopped by a small stream and instead of thinking about me I thought about all the TTer's I have met and your face stuck in my mind brother. I feel so uneasy as I did not know your current condition and just found out from fellow TTer's. Man I just don't have the words I want to say I really would just like to hug you brother. We need you back here where you belong and I promised you a ride to Pine Mt for an easy overnighter so man...I really wish I knew where you are at. If anyone knows where Nowslimmer is at the present time, could you please let me know. He is one of the first TTer's I met and had shown my wife total respect and we both love him much.
Nowslimmer, I miss you brother.

Wow, I don't feel worthy to post on this thread. I hope ns is getting along.

But since I'm a glutton for attention, my shoulder is pretty sore and I'm prolly getting an MRI ordered today.

For the first time in a few years, I can actually see without my glasses.

Before the cataract surgery, the vision in my left eye was terrible compared to the right eye. Today, I actually know how bad the right eye is.

Other than some swelling in my eye that is affecting my peripheral vision, there are no complications. I have to avoid bending, stooping or any other activity that might cause me to bump or put pressure on my eye for a few weeks, then I can get the right eye done.

I can't describe how happy I am to have good vision again.

No MRI ordered. Doc said I have a fractured scapula. Now I gotta find an orthopedist who'll give me the time of day.

I'm not a doctor in real life, but I play one on TT...

I'm betting the advice is something like: sling/immobilized for two weeks and then begin to use it more.

Toe sadly Rosey is correct. Just about all they can do is sling and swath and rest.

UM I would also recommend that your S.O. use only the FINEST "pain reliever" (if you get my drift). And tell her to find some way to take your mind off the pain....Yeah that's the ticket!

Good luck

Never did get any "pain reliever," but I am officially off the IR. Saw the doc yesterday and he said he's done with me. Said to get back in the gym. I did a shake-down overnighter last weekend and it's all good - feeling more like normal everyday. I'll be in the mountains all next week.

Gratefully,
tj

I'd rather have a handful of yellowjacket stings than the one effing ant bite I got a couple of hours ago. It's on the back of my right knee. The swelling has gone down there (topical antihistamine) but now I'm getting tiny itchy welts everywhere else on my body, and shooting pain in my leg that won't back down. Ugh. I just popped a couple of benadryl, so I'll be (hopefully) sleeping it off soon. It wasn't a fire ant either, but some other kind, the thorax looked different on it, and it's a non-mounding ant. I see them on my concrete driveway all the time, but bites are thankfully very rare. The one that nailed me was a guard ant, too, so they pack a wallop.
