I'M OFF THE LIST! =D

Dr. said all activity can resume w/in my pain tolerance. Hiked two miles today and it was wonderful. Just a little sore tonight, nothing too bad.

I don't know W.Knee. I'm going to do my best to get to the point where I can go as far as possible. I'd love to do the @sskicker route, but I'm going to stick with whatever I feel I'm most capable of. I'd hate to end up dragging. Got an email out to my PT uncle to see what I can do to get back to normal faster.

Cool. Don't do too much too quick. I jumped right into 8 mile day hikes when the doctor released me and I crashed in about a week. Legs could handle it, but the ankle needed more time. I still have a lot of swelling, but the pain is minimal.

Bearmag, that was the typo part. As if I'd tell you guys about any self feeling I may or may not do. That's privileged information!

Thanks for the reminders to take it easy everyone. Birch made me promise I would NOT do the @sskicker route yesterday (even though it's a month away). So , I guess it'll be the middle route.

Stove Stomper had a stroke. He is in Singing River Hospital, 2809 Denny Avenue, Pascagoula, MS 39581. Room 4019.

It affected his right side, but he will be okay.

Reporting for hangout duty...

I just picked up 6 cubic feet of crushed marble for a little yard project at Home Despot, and thought I was being careful enough hauling the cart of it behind me, but the slope of the parking lot caused the cart to speed up, roll over my left ankle and slam me down on my knees in the parking lot. I got up, kept on hobbling, unloaded all that s--t into HPM's car, and drove home, occasionally yelling expletives at the pain level that's still ramping up in my knee. I'm missing a JFK silver dollar sized patch of skin on my left knee, nice and bloody and puffing up. I didn't need this.

I just had to hobble down the stairs to answer the doorbell... I should have grabbed a bag of frozen peas while I was down there. My ankle is throbbing in a way I'm not familiar with, so that's not a good sign. It feels like it's stiffening up and swelling behind the ankle bone. So much for me cooking a roast chicken tonight. ;P

I'm just thinking how much that quantity of marble chips would weigh --- without the cart.

Hope it was mostly a glancing blow!

Four hours ago I knuckled under and popped a vicodin. Interesting how it is effective on deep pain, but does absolutely nothing for abrasions, contusions and burns. Vicodin does give me motivation, that's for sure. I got in a few hours of working on some pastel abstract drawings, more of a constructivist technique. Cool. Of course now I can't take it for a few more days or I'll start puking.

Bactine didn't last long, maybe 20 minutes and the abrasion hurt a heck of a lot again. Funny thing this morning, the abrasion hurts more than the deep pain, so I definitely got lucky yesterday. That could have been really bad. I'm still hobbling though, since Saturday I found a weird step in a barn the hard way and strained my quadruceps and other muscles in my right leg. Now both legs hurt and Laurel's mad because I won't carry her around like she wants. :P

ever get the hydrogen peroxide treatment for scrapes as a kid?

Oh yeah. I think I became an H2O2 junkie when I had a couple of Plantars warts removed from my feet. Watching that stuff fizzing and seeing the tissue turn white fascinated me. That was in 3rd of 4th grade, I believe.

Hydrogen peroxide was my father's favorite cure for just about everything. I do not buy the stuff.

I can barely focus on anything now because of the pain from the abrasion. Man, that's as bad as a burn right now. I slathered it in neosporin and a large band aid last night, but I just peeked at it and it's all gooey from a non hardening scab. Time to wash and try to re-numb that thing.

I am amazed that my ankle didn't swell up, considering 6 cf of rock rolled over it and my boot. It's a little stiff but that's all. My hiking boot has a nifty abrasion mark on ankle cuff now too.
