Hope all goes great. Good luck. You're in my thoughts.” 10:58:16 AM 7/30/05 “Dang it cyndeee. That stinks. Sorry about that.” 11:02:06 AM 7/30/05 “ ![]() Hammer toe! http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001235.htm I have one that has developed in the last nine months or so. Don't know whether or not to have it corrected. "Hammer toe deformity is a condition of the toe where the toe is bent downward like a claw. It usually affects the second toe but any toe may be affected." http://www.mamashealth.com/bodyparts/hammer.asp last edited: 7/30/05 12:57:40 PM” 12:52:22 PM 7/30/05 “Better a hammertoe than a hammerhead, I always say... Get Well Soon, Folks!” 1:26:35 PM 7/30/05 “I just did something stupid dangit. First this morning, at 6:45 am, one of my cats hooked a dewclaw all the way into the bottom of the big toe on my right foot. Ow. Worse, this evening, I accidentally kicked Laurel's basketball, barefooted. It peeled the toenail back on the little toe on my right foot and every time I take a step it feels like it's getting cut with a knife over and over again. I can move it just fine but Geebus that hurts.” 7:55:51 PM 8/03/05 “yikes! put a bandaid on it, it will feel much better :)” 8:08:06 PM 8/03/05 “Can't HumanPackMule keep you in shoes?” 9:22:18 PM 8/03/05 “maybe he likes em barefoot and preggers?? (JK)” 9:23:08 PM 8/03/05 threw my back out “i was doing a warmup set of deadlifts at the gym and i tweaked something. i dropped the bar and had to ask someone to hand me my water bottle and keys from the floor and rack my weight. i tried to go home but couldn't get my leg up in my truck so i had to call someone to come and get me. i need to see a doctor but i know at the emergency room they'll just tell me to see a doctor tomorrow. i've tried every sports medicine office i know of and can't get in today. i just know once i wake up tomorrow it's gonna be so sore and i won't be able to move. i've got finals tomorrow also and i can't hardly sit still long enough to get any studying done. at least i can still type. i'd really be screwed if i couldn't whine about it on tt.” 1:54:54 PM 8/23/05 “ductape, sorry to hear that.” 2:10:12 PM 8/23/05 “the surgery on my left knee(8/12) is doing great, i only wish the right knee(4/1) was as good. I see the docter on friday and will discuss my options. 17 days until vacation! 3 days left at work.” 5:58:51 PM 8/23/05 “2 weeks ago I did 20 minutes on the treadmill at 1.5 mph with no incline. I was on ice for 2 days. How disappointing! I cut my pain pill dose down to 1 pill a day from 2 a day. But 3 days ago I stopped taking my pain pill. I had to take 1 today but still 2 full days without is pretty good I think.” 4:45:18 PM 9/06/05 “start slow woman! but it sounds like your improving!!” 4:46:39 PM 9/06/05 “Get better, Tango!” 5:13:26 PM 9/06/05 “It is good that you are weening (I said ween!) yourself off the meds. I have never been a big fan of pain meds. After my car accident, I would throw up because of the pain, so I took it. Keep working at it!” 5:17:02 PM 9/06/05 “well i go in tomorrow to get shot up with cortisone in my knees. i saved my percisets(spelling)from the last surgery for vacation. i leave saturday.” 5:41:35 PM 9/06/05 “I'm allowed to go running now, but only for 10 minutes. LOL! Mean podiatrist. Good luck fellow gimpies.” 5:45:42 PM 9/06/05 Thanks for the encouragement “Roam, I was only going 15 mph, I was barely moving mylegs! It didn't hurt until the next day. I even iced when I got home that night just in case. I guess I'm going to try the recumbent bike. Good luck Cyndee. Great news Pixie! last edited: 9/06/05 8:30:04 PM” 8:28:44 PM 9/06/05 “Feel free to donate your pain meds to my mailing address...” 8:08:47 AM 9/07/05 Spirit “You are already on too many drugs if you're rooting for the flyers.” 8:11:08 AM 9/07/05 “Whoa, wash your mouth out Tango. Here's to a healthy, pain free Pittsburglar.” 8:15:39 AM 9/07/05 “Flyers Rawk!” 8:19:04 AM 9/07/05 “Thanks Geo. Spirit, put down the crack pipe! J/K” 8:27:18 AM 9/07/05 “You should see my flyers jersy :)” 8:40:43 AM 9/07/05 “Who are the nominees for Gimp Of The Week??” 8:52:10 AM 9/07/05 YIPPEE!!!! “7 days with no pain meds. I still have some pain but it's bearable. Now it's onto the treadmill, I'm going for 10 mins with no incline.” 5:40:29 PM 9/30/05 “WOO HOO!!!! Go Tango! Go Tango!” 5:42:11 PM 9/30/05 “Glad for ya Tango, even if ya are a Pittsburglar.” 5:46:03 PM 9/30/05 “Thanks guys! I am crossing my fingers.” 6:00:46 PM 9/30/05 “Well???????????????” 8:11:06 PM 9/30/05 “tango that is great! i hope your back continues to improve. my knees made it through vacation with the cortisone shots. since i am unemployed i have been doing yard work and trying to get things in order outside. i take the pain meds as needed.” 9:39:00 AM 10/01/05 “Geezr, I'm still alive. I did the 10 mins and still felt good but didn't want to chance going longer. Cyndee that's great news. Hope things keep getting better. I need to get back into weed pulling my flower beds are no longer!” 9:44:40 AM 10/01/05 “Last weekend my department participated with a float in a parade. It was built on a hay wagon and being towed by an SUV. We built it in someone's driveway and had to drive it to the parade "staging area". It was about 48 degrees vs. 80 degrees 4 days before that... and pretty windy... So, in order to keep things on the float from blowing around in the gusts of wind, I opted to sit on the wagon while we drove it from my colleague's house to the staging area.... So, we hooked the haywagon to the SUV and proceeded to start down the driveway. We had travelled maybe 4 feet when I heard a "CLUNK" and realized that the pin we were using to secure the wagon to the SUV had fallen out. Luckily we were only moving very slowly, but I suddenly realized that the trailer hitch was on the ground, but the wagon was still moving towards the car... I yelled out to the driver and leapt towards the front of the wagon-- and proceed to put a leg out to (hopefully) prevent the wagon from hitting the SUV. At this point, the driver and passenger had realized what had happened and had stopped the car and run back to help me out... But....not before I stuck my right leg out and MISSED the car....my right leg was then on the ground (with me realising in horror that in another 2 seconds, my right leg was going to be pinned between the wagon and my left leg was still on the deck of the wagon--I ended up twisting my ankle (which had been slightly sprained about a week before.) Lucky for me, the other 2 people got to the wagon in time to help prevent it from hitting the car... (and crushing my leg.) I was absolutely useless at that point (in terms of trying to stop the wagon from hitting the car because my leg couldn't even touch the ground from the deck of the wagon... But, now my left ankle is tender (and has been for a while from a couple of slight sprains in the past month.) Any advice, besides just wrapping it? My ankles have always been prone to being a bit wobbly....” 3:50:20 PM 10/13/05 “My advice is that the sprained ankle is nature's way of saying don't do that anymore. I know, I know, ... I've heard those adjectives before.” 3:54:03 PM 10/13/05 “Walking is hard not to do... Plus I've signed up to do the Breast Cancer 3-Day again for next summer... so I want to keep on my feet....” 3:55:25 PM 10/13/05 “Ouch!” 3:57:18 PM 10/13/05 “ICE ICE ICE! Always remember RICE, when injured Rest Ice Compression & Elevation. Ice to keep the swelling (and pain) to a minimum. Also anti- inflammitories such as advil or naproxin. Good luck! last edited: 10/13/05 3:59:05 PM” 3:58:20 PM 10/13/05 “KD-- I would have iced it, but it was about 45 degrees outside AND we had to still walk in the parade. We were quite lucky-- We almost would have been stranded (the pin we were using wasn't the right one, and couldn't stay on.) We ended up using a "cat's Paw" tool that Thinkbubelz had in our toolbox... Far from perfect, but we made it the 4 miles to the parade! Here's the even more ironic part. Once the parade was over and the float dismantled, my colleague's husband started to drive it back to his farm (about 60 miles away). He got about 1 mile down the road when the platform of the wagon disengaged from the trailer part. (Apparently, the wagon part, which is made of wood, just rests upon the trailer part--with the vibration of the road and the wind, it came off of the trailer part. Luckily, this happened with no one on the wagon and it did not happen during the parade! Otherwise, it could have been a very big disaster!” 4:11:07 PM 10/13/05 “OMG!! So glad no one was hurt.” 4:14:22 PM 10/13/05 I took a hike today! “I hiked today! I did 3.5 miles at a little over 2 mph. Everything hurts. Knees and feet mostly. I came home and put ice on my back just in case. Woo Hoo! I hiked!!” 1:08:40 PM 11/05/05 “Great! Way to go, Tango.” 1:24:04 PM 11/05/05 “Thanks NS.” 1:40:00 PM 11/05/05 “so glad to hear you are doing better. i worked out in the yard yesterday and my knees are killing me.” 3:21:46 PM 11/05/05 “Knees are bad business. Are you better for the most part?” 3:27:47 PM 11/05/05 “I'm having trouble with mine.” 4:00:32 PM 11/05/05 “not really tango, they do have these new injections to rebuild the cartilage. so i'm going to try those. if i take a percocet i do fine and when we went out west i did the cortisone shots and that was great. i'm still planning on hiking but it will need to be short distances. maybe i'll go with nowslimmer.” 4:21:27 PM 11/05/05 “Where did your knees hurt Cyndee? Did the shots hurt? I heard they hurt pretty bad. I am looking to modify my pack to keep the shoulder straps off my shoulders and put a better hip belt on so it can take all the weight. My back is sore today, but it is muscular and not disc related. Course I haven't used my hiking muscles in almost a year. I only had a lumbar pack on so that helped I'm sure.” 10:42:51 AM 11/06/05 Jump to Page << prev
