Woo Hoo!!
OK here is the update. I stopped taking the muscle relaxant yesterday. This morning I woke up and was much better! Go figure. If I keep improving this week, I won't need the cortisone shots! I hit the treadmill Thursday!

That is my watch word. It only hurts when I change position, standing to sitting and the reverse. Walking doesn't hurt. I got it okayed by my Dr. too. It is so nice to have the kind of support the people offer here!! Thank you to all!

Crutch Free - YIPEEEEEE!!
Hey Y'all!

Well, it only took 4 1/2 weeks but I am walking again. Today in rehab I was allowed to ride the bike and do some weight bearing exercises. Who knows, maybe Sierrapaloza is a possibility after all!!

I wish a speedy recovery to anyone else unfortunate enough to be on this list! Be well!!

Congrats, you two. It does take time. I still don't have full strength in my right foot. It's not easy to push off on it yet. Stay within your limitations and give yourselves time while you rehab.

You can't believe how much I've been waiting for this day to arrive. Today was my stress test following bypass surgery. I passed with flying colors. Now I can actually begin doing some trails with elevation gain. I still need to ease into it, but at least I can get off the sidewalks around the house. Unfortunately there's still snow in the Beartooths, but when it's finally melted I'll be ready for it.

I never thought throwing a day pack on could feel sooooooo good.

An update would probably be good, huh?

Well, I came through the surgery with flying colors (all 2 1/2 hours of it--yikes! = 8 0 )on Thursday. I was originally scheduled for 2 nights in the hospital but I was recovering so much faster than they expected that I was able to talk them into letting me go home Friday evening. It was so nice to eat solid food again! I've stopped taking the good drugs. They had started making me nausious and nausia is not good with stitches in the belly, so they had to go.

G00SE went back to work yesterday and I was able to go to my son's last band concert of the school year last night. I even went for a short walk this evening. Things are looking good!

Thanks Everyone
I never envisioned it feeling so good being voted off the island, but it really does.

Tex and Tango, glad you're nearly back to full speed.

Skully, hoping your recovery continues to go well. I can feel your pain when you were nauseous with stitches. The first day out of bypass surgery I had the hiccups four times. It was so painful they had to give me morphine. Sneezing wasn't a bundle of laughs either. ;-)

Heal soon Skully. Just log onto TT every day and shoot the breeze. It's not the same as going hiking, but it helps you realize that you will go hiking again. Worked for me.

My back is just about back to normal. Chiropractor doesn't want to see me any more unless I have trouble again.

Thinking about a dayhike on Sunday. Will be my first outing since March 1st 24-mile hike shortly before I was injured.

I'm on now! My hamstring (more specifically, the ischial tuberosity) has really been sore for about two months now! I'm getting a deep massage today to see if they can break up some of the scar tissue forming in there. It's right at the insertion point where the hamstring attaches to the glutes.

I'm always massaging it at work and I walk around looking like someone whose shorts are too tight!
