that said, gotta give credit to the tenn red zone defense. 4 turnovers to none, and the difference in the game is a pass tipped incomplete on a 2-point conversion. and the colts last 3 posessions were 3 and out.

Stormbringer I'll give you that. The Colt's got lucky. If the colts want to win a superbowl they're going to have to be consistent and they can't count on other's mistakes. Or maybe they can. That's how the Cheifs have gotten where they are this year.

Speaking of the Cheifs, Denver's giving them a run right now. Denver's up 24-21 and just got the ball back.

i cant believe that pats-fins game is still 3-0 after 3 quarters. with a lotta luck, colts can still get a first round bye, but we need fiedler and company to do their job first!

what i want to know is, what the heck happened to hunter the punter smith? my biggest complaint about him used to be that he was booting them too far and creating touchbacks when we needed to pin the opposition deep. now, this year, it seems like when we really NEED him to get off a booming kick, he doesnt do it. wtf was with 17 yards today?

Great interception by Bruschi - to kill the fins chances.

(also noted: that was indeed an incredible catch by Harrison - saw it on the highlights... and some great running by Portis to burn the Cheifs)

Out-freakin-standing game! Now, I have to send an email to my cousin in Dallas to make up for the crow she served up after the first game. Paybacks are a muthah! (Tuning up the chords)

Hey guys, would whining about having to play one game each year at 5280 feet get any airplay with you?????
DADGUMIT!!! That hurt. That really, really hurt. Now the Chiefs are back in the pack with the rest of the league.
It's gonna be a tough play-off.
Dunadan

12/08/03

You definitely have my sympathies Dunadan. It's tough to play one game each year at 5280 feet.

It would take a truly good team to beat the Broncos under those kind of circumstances. It would be unfair to expect them to manage what only the Patriots have done this year (Oh yeah... there are them pesky Bears, too).

The other problem is that the Chiefs haven't had much experience this year with playing decent teams. I think this makes em 3/5 against teams with winning records.

There was less snow and ice in the stadium in Philly than in New England, so I expect the Eagles must be hotter than the Patriots.

I bet if it was the other way around you wouldn't say that. Lots of bad calls from one ref. in particular who kept throwing flags when he was 30-40 yrds away from the play.
But you still have to play the game and the Colts won...grrr

id have to see it again, but i think you may be right about the non-call on the harrison fumble. but overall, i dont think one team or another got screwed by the refs. i saw a late hit called on the colts that was really questionable

The Patriots
Are riding high and strong!!!

9 in a row, can they make it 14 in a row??? That's quite a run. I'm worried that everyone has to lose every now and then. Can't let it happen in the playoffs, it's single elimination. Also want to ride into the playoffs on a hot streak....

GO PATS!!!!!!!!

of the three teams left on the colts schedule (falcons, broncos, texans) i think the texans will give them the most trouble. but its the last game of the season, and by that point, itll more than likely be a meaningless game, with the colts unlikely to move up or down in the seedings. the falcons o just wont be able to keep up. vick is still too rusty.

Dang!! The Colts will have to play better than that to win a Superbowl. They got walked on, lost home field advantage and let the Broncos in the playoffs. Broncos played a really solid game with some impressive drives.

Musta been almost as big a heartbreak at the end for Eagles' fans as for Saints fans.

And what about Miami, 9-6 and out of the playoffs already?

If you went by current records, and skipped the playoffs, you'd have a replay of the Rams - Patriots Superbowl. (As a long time Patriots fan, who saw them play in Harvard Stadium and Fenway Park, back when they were homeless, its exciting to see them be a legit team, and to have their best regular season and longest streak ever. Here's to you Robert Kraft!).

The NFL is a tough place to play this year. Lots of talent. Look at what the Bears have done in the latter half of the season. It should be a good post season!

I was just procrastinating on getting grades in by looking at the Pats Stats for the year. Its incredible. They have the longest streak and the best record in the NFL and for the season, they trail their opponents in First Downs and
Rushing average and, on average, are barely ahead of them in most major Stats. In total yards, they gained 4219 and gave up 3979 - has that ever happened with a team that won 13 (and could win 14) games regular season?

The places they really dominate are big plays like passing interceptions, interceptions returned for touchdown, and kick offs returned for touchdown. Are they lucky, opportunistic or just incredibly vigalent about avoiding big mistakes and capitalizing on mistakes by others?

Actually, that loss exposed some of the Eagles' weaknesses, particularly on defense. Hopefully the coaches will address them.

Yea, what happened? They play the upset minded Bears next week. The Bears may have finally found someone that can pass.

What pisses me off though is this late season surge is going to cost the Bears draft picks and they are even talking that Dick may keep his job. What a waste!

that colts game was painful to watch. being so thoroughly dominated this late in the season is not a good sign. that was the first time all year thats happend. ive been saying for awhile now denver is better than their record.
