Limbaugh's Ratings Surge Coincides with White House Attacks

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2009/03/26/limbaughs-ratings-surge-coincides-white-house-attacks

♦ In New York City, WABC has experienced huge gains during Rush's noon- 3pm timeslot: from 4.6 to 6.7 overall (12 and older) share, good for first place overall in the nation's largest market. Rush's Big Apple listenership is now estimated at 693,000.

♦ In the second-largest market, Los Angeles, KFI-AM has surged into the number one position (all listeners 12 and older) from 9am to noon, with 618,000 listeners, a 4.6 to 6.0 audience share increase over three months and an even bigger males 35-64 (4.6 to 6.3) move, to take first place there as well.

♦ Chicago, saw another huge move, with Rush affiliate WLS also taking first place during his timeslot (12 and older), from 5.2 share to 6.9 and a total local listenership of 396,700 in the third-largest market.

♦ In Dallas - Fort Worth, 4.8 to 6.4 men 35-64 and fourth overall (12+), 3.5 to 4.5. Cumulative audience: 250,000.

♦ Houston's results were truly blockbuster: 6.0 to 9.8 overall, ranking number one with a bullet and audience of 382,300. Men 35-64: number one again, from 8.6 to 12.2 over three months. Adults 25-54: first place, 4.6 to 8.7. Women 25-54: 3.7 to 8.3 again good for a top ranking.

♦ DC's WMAL also saw Rush-related growth: 4.1 to 6.7, good for third overall and an audience of 155,300. Men 35-64: number one with a staggering 6.4 to 13.4 move.

Maloney wondered: “Given this blockbuster data, will the White House think twice before targeting Rush again?”

LOL...this is like the Bush request for the Terrorists to "come and get us" in Iraq....LOL..how'd that work out for the Terrorists?

I love it, Rush is out there taking fire the Libbies are rabidly charging at him and all the while the Republicrats (who were on the verge of collapse) are able to start rebuilding.

This does have a historical perspective....

In World War II the initial German attack on England was targeting airfields and radar installations. And is was actually effectively reducing the RAF to a point where they might falter.

On 4 September Hitler lifted his restriction on bombing London, following RAF raids on Berlin on the night of 25 August/26 August, itself a reprisal for an accidental bombing of the British capital. The Berlin raid had hurt Göring's pride, as he had previously claimed the British would never be allowed to bomb the city. Kesselring seized his chance and proposed a strategy change. In the face of Sperrle's arguments that attacks on the airfields should continue, Kesselring persuaded the Reichsmarschall to attack London. The raids would either panic the British population into submission, or it would force the "last fifty Spitfires" into the sky where they could be annihilated. This attack was no longer seen as a prerequisite for Seelöwe, but was meant to be decisive in itself.

http://www.netcharles.com/orwell/articles/col-battleofbritain.htm

Then the British dropped a few bombs in Berlin (actually the suburbs) as a result Hitler and Goering switched to bombing the cities which allowed the RAF to regroup and eventually destroy the German effort and save England....

Rush, like the cities, will take the hits. And we will see the "conservatives" rally around him and begin to feel (like the British Citizens under constant bombardment) the necessity of responding....

This is great, Libbies only read their versions of history..and as a result will never learn.

If Limbaugh is the pinnacle of their order, one would think the breed would die out after a few generations.

Then again, after what I just saw on the X-C Skier thread....

Actually it reminds me of Chalker's Law, which simply states that no one (no one, Dan) is so ugly that Somebody won't #&%!$ 'em.

I suppose that covers non-visual repulsiveness as well.

Fox News goes 10 for 10

As MSNBC and CNN battle for second place, second-quarter Nielsen numbers show the network's programs now rank one through 10 in total viewers on cable news.

Since Obama came into office, Fox has continued not only winning, but doing so at unprecedented levels. As the Hollywood Reporter noted last week, the network is having its"best year yet," with the competition in the ratings shifting from not only the news networks but all of basic cable. Indeed, Fox came in 3rd this quarter, behind only USA and TNT.

Across the board, already top-rated shows are up by percentages in the 30s and 40s. But Glenn Beck, who takes aim at the administration repeatedly, is proving an even bigger draw since coming over from HLN: His 5 p.m. slot is up 110 percent from last year. Such a trend shows commentators like Beck can thrive in the opposition.

From TVNewser:

8pm - O'Reilly Factor — 3,188,000
9pm - Hannity — 2,341,000
5pm - Glenn Beck — 2,053,000
10pm - On the Record — 1,950,000
6pm - Special Report — 1,889,000
7pm - Fox Report — 1,757,000
11pm - O'Reilly Factor — 1,579,000
9am - America's Newsroom — 1,399,000
4pm - Your World — 1,389,000
3pm - Studio B — 1,169,000

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann came close to cracking the top t, having attracted 1,159,000 viewers during the second quarter.

altho i never listened to him in the very early days, i imagine youre right, altho he's always been a left-baiter (that sounds dirty) as long as ive been hearing about him
crash bang

I don't hate him and if by closeminded you mean spending enough time on the subject to feel fully comfortable that my opinion is based on actual first hand knowledge rather than hearsay, then yeah, I am closeminded.

yeah, left baiting has always been part of his show, (which makes me wonder why they still take the bait after 20 year), but it wasn't all of his show. What his real appeal was that for the first time I was hearing something different in the news that wasn't being told in the regular television and print news. I was finally hearing someone see and say the things I believed in. Almost every caller would start by saying, "finally someone in the news who understands me and is seeing things from my perspective." That's where the term Ditto heads came from, not that everyone was "dittoing" what Rush said, but that they were dittoing the sentiment that finally there was someone like them telling the news. It saved a lot of time for callers to just say ditto instead.
