I personally do not like to go to Burger King just because I do not like their french fries. I heard a few months ago that they were supossed to be getting new ones do to the unpopularity of their current french fries. I also do not know anybody that likes them and last time I was in Burger King I overheard two customers say that they did not like their fries.

The reason I'm bringing this topic up is because I just saw on the news that Burger King's fries were on the "worst fast-food items" due to the number of fat grams.

Does anybody like them?

Miss O, anyone who is worried about fat grams shouldn't be eating ANYBODY's french fries, IMHO. I think BK's are as good as anyone's and their Double Whopper w/cheese is the best fast food burger. I indulge only about twice a year because I know this stuff is very bad for me.

Brooks, I don't think anyone outside of SoCal knows about In-N-Out Urge. (you're right, though, those ARE great burgers)

I'm personally not worried about fat grams, but I do not like grease saturated fries and that is what I think Burger King's taste like.

You are right Crazy Mike.. McDonalds are so much better!

I love Burger King's burgers with the Whopper Jr. being my favorite, but fries are important to me with my burger and I dont want to feel like I'm eating all grease!

Aside from an occasional trip to Arbies whenever I'm hiking in upstate NY, I've pretty much sworn of fat food... I mean fast food.

Hmm..just what do you think is in that Whopper Jr you're eating then?? lmbo!!!

I avoid fast food as much as possible, but my favorite chain is hands down, Chik-fil-e.

They have waffle fries and sweet tea (free refills, too!!), what a wicked combination!!

Like I said txwoodswoman I'm not concerned with fat grams. I just don't want to taste the grease if that makes sense.

Chik-fil-e's fries rank up there with Burger King to me. However I do like their nuggets and their chicken salad sandwich.

I guess I'm just picky when it comes to fries.

Hmmmm, in and out 4X4's are the best.
Carl's Jr. (2) $6 cheese burgers are good with onion rings

Burger King has Mayo packets!(for backpacking)

Kentucky Fried Chicken has honey packets for backpacking

Mc D's has (3) quater pounders per meal. And suger'y fries

Del Taco has the best fries for me!

I love fastfood!

Hardee's, franchise-wise.

McDonald's, Burger King et al comprise the REAL latterday Axis of Evil. No Comment on that 'In-N-Out Urge' remark, LOL

I worled at an Arby's when I was in high school. We made French Fries from a mix (not from whole potatoes) then. Does Arby's have real fries now or do they still use a mix. (They also used a "roast beef loaf" not real hunks of roast beef).

They have two varieties of fries.. regular and curly. Their curly fries rock, even though they give me heartburn.

If'n you're ever in around the University of Chicago, ya gotta stop off at the Woodlawn Tap and try their fries. (Warning, smokey and you will smell like the fries when you leave.)

The only thing good at arby's is the chicken fingers and the arby sauce.

Hardee's?! They're still around?

Birch is mad at McDonalds because of their commercials and chemical flavorings so we don't get to eat there anymore unless he's not with us. (I really love their fries)

If you want really bad burger king, come to our city...those idiots can't serve a hot burger, made the way you want it (no mayo, no lettuce and extra pickle please) to save their jobs!

Wendy's new salads (taco salad esp.) are great.

Steak n Shake
If it must be fast food, the very best is Be-Bops in Des Moines, Iowa. Not a chain, just 3 in the world, I think.

Steak n Shake ain't bad, either.

In-and-Out Rocks!!
brooks - When people visit me in California from elsewhere I take them to In-and-Out Burger. They love it. Don't forget their shakes...the best.

Have you ever ordered a double-double "animal style"? They put double sauce and grilled onions on it.

However, I never order french fries any more and rarely order burgers. Too much fat for me. I just mooch fries off of my kids.

BTW, I have a friend who researches "fast food" buyer behavior. He said everyone has two favorite fast food places...the one they go to when they are in a hurry, and their favorite place when they are not in a hurry. In So. Cal. the hurry place is McDonalds and the favorite place is In-and-Out.

Last week on the national news there was a segment on a group of people that were filing a lawsuit against fast foods establishments blaming them for making them overweight. It's almost unbelieveable, but other lawsuits like this have been won.

Friendly advice
If you start watching your fat intake when you are young, there's a greater chance of having a longer and happier life. Folks like Phil, Father, and I don't pump that gooey yellow substance through our veins like we use to.

oh sorry, i'm in an LSD haze again. ;-P what i mean is, fast food french fries suck balls (Wendy's only marginally suck), and McDonald's is the WORST!! i used to like the taste of their fries, until i heard they put BEEF FLAVORING in them! what the hizzell.

BK's fries taste terrible, their pickles are even worse, their burgers taste like processed naugahide, and their buns are totally limp.

Mickie D's makes the best sausage McMuffin with egg in the world if they don't burn the buns. Their fries are good, and I like their quarter pounder with cheese.

Wendies has the best burgers, though, and you can dress them to your taste at the fixins bar.

Roy's has gone way downhill since they used Trigger up.

There are still a few Hardies left, but hard to find in these parts (SE Pa). I remember their burgers as good.

hmmm...i don't remember that, Aero...i wouldn't be surprised though. was it beef flavoring? maybe Tunabreath didn't notice that my "i've been poisoned" was a link to that story.

speaking of fast-food breakfast, there are these places in WV called Tudor's Biscuit World. YUM!! i loooove their biscuits. they make this really yummy one with egg and potato on it. good thing i can only get those once in a blue moon!

Aero's right!
Yes, that suit did occur. I think the outcome was that McD's now uses veggie oil, and there is a slight difference in the taste.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for Tudor's Biscuit World Lyra, sounds yummy. Can you recall where you might have seen them?

The 7-Elevens in WVA used to have great hot dog fixin bars - chili, hot pepper, all kinds of neat toppings. I'd buy two dogs and fix them up differently, then couldn't decide which was better.

McDonald's is awful!

yepper, they're in Charleston, and about an hour's drive from there in any direction. usually when i'm leaving, i "forget" to have breakfast at my parents' house, and stop there. moooooaahaahaahaa! they're open 24/7, too!

after having seen what I thought was a very large cat only to find out it was a very large RAT. I don't eat at Mickie D's.
Sorry but ive got a real problem with fast food. It's a sham cause when I get off of a hike I crave for fast food. But since seeing that RAT I just can't bring myself to eat there.

no, Geo, none that i've seen, alas. i don't think i've ever seen anywhere good to eat around there. we usually stop at an icky Subway in a gas station on the way in, and an icky Pizza Hut on the way out, where they refuse to serve me beer, because my license is obviously a fake, and i'm obviously only 15.

and that reminds me! i went to see an IMAX in the Natural History Museum the other day, and the woman selling the tickets asked if i was under 12! i said, "no, i'm 11." (facetiously, i thought.) she gave me my ticket, and charged me $5, after my friend ahead of me had just paid $7!!! LOLOLOL....

Fast food after a hike?! No no no, you must partake of the "sit down" meal. You can get just as much grease, just higher quality grease. =)

Fast food breakfasts kill me.

Lyra:
The 4U restaurant in North Fork Valley (south of Senaca Rocks) serves down-home food. It's pretty regular stuff, not spicy, not fancy, but basically good.

There are a couple more restaurants along 33 that look promising (one had big rigs parked outside). Haven't tried them, though.

Yeah, looking young is great. When you're 40 they'll think you're 25.

I got carded at 40-something. Pulled a photo of my grandaughter out of my wallet to show the woman. I thanked her for carding me. We had a good laugh.
