Another sign that the golf nuts will arrive soon: small $10 chunks of imported cheese in the neighborhood Kroger. I couldn't find any of my run-of-the-mill Jarlsberg – and I was pissed! LOL

I was trying to think of some of the off-the-wall types I saw and the only one that really stands out was Limburger, which took on the aspect of myth from all those Pepe le Pew cartoon.... The Ultimate Stinky Cheese.

(I *did* find some really nice English Cheddar, tho'.....)

I know absolutely nothing about golf
but I made par on the first hole I ever played. Here's how (keep in mind that I really knew nothing). I put the ball on that wooden thing and hit the ball down the fairway. Found the ball, put it on that wooden thing again, hit it onto the green and putted in. Everyone was amazed at my skill and I envisioned a great career on the PGA. Next hole they caught me teeing up on the 2nd shot and there went the damn career. My brother, 35 years later, still thinks I cheated intentionally. Had I known the rules I probably would have cheated (after all, it is golf), but I really only did so out of ignorance. From that point I quickly learned that golf wasn't for me and I went on to play real sports.

TPC is still going on down here, but thankfully it finishes up today. I went out to dinner with my parents last and the restaurant was filled with snooty golfer wannbe types.
That, and I woke up with a doozie of a cold. That really bites.

Good morning,

34 degrees in the northwoods this a.m. Not as warm as I'd like, but it's still melting. The time between winter and spring up here is a pain. The snow is practically gone and I haven't seen the first bud. Of course the snow can come quickly roaring back because we're not even finished with March. My comments about spring may be highly premature. Oh well, Coffee's still good.

Good morning. It's hardly any fun getting up without some Hugs from divinity.

Snake Eyes - Have you seen the sun? My Minnesota memories of this time of the year are dark, gloomy skies and cold rains. It was depressing and there was no Spring. But, finally, one day it would change and suddenly become Summer.

Shep, only one [lace to backback in Nebraska. Its Indian Caves State Park on the Missouri River in the far south east corner of the state. Just over twenty miles of trails, and about a half dozen shelters. On Friday, we hike a little over ten miles on all the spur trails. ON Saturday, in the rain, we hiked 6 or 7 miles from trailhead 4 to a shelter in the other side of the park, and Sunday, we hiked back to the car by other trails.

Nowslimmer, March and April are the worst months in the upper midwest. Wet soggy ground makes doing anything outdoors unappetitizing.

Nowslimmer. I haven't seen the sun but that doesn't mean I don't believe there is one. It is gray now but it sure beats the couple of years I lived in southeast Alaska...for weather anyway. It is a little dreary this time of year, but I got to fight getting sucked into it. Another couple of weeks and a few buds will pop on the trees followed by a few more, a blade of grass, a daffodil and then, one day, great big green spring will explode all over the place. This is called July.

How well I remember the absence of Spring.

At least in Adak, Alaska, (halfway across the Aluetian Islands) the sun would appear, occassionally, between the williwaws (with their winds in excess of 100 mph).

I'm trying to steel myself for the last snowstorm I know is lurking around the corner somewhere. It's been so beautiful here, flowers blooming grass greening up and buds swollen and about to burst on the trees. We did get out and do stuff, mud or not. Anyday now it should snow.

Naw, I've been up for a couple of hours. Been laughting at Lizs' job interview and trying to get around one of the bugs in the computer. Can't eat before a medical test this morning. Will be leaving soon for a steam bath and shower at the health club before going to the lab.

Good morning all. Had the A/C on last night but finally was able to open the windows. The birds make such a racket around 4AM they kind of woke me up, not quite but almost. Lovely out right now, supposed to hit mid 90's today, but break nicely for the weekend, with maybe, if the planets align, some rain. Time to get ready for the cube farm. Enjoy the day!

Good morning everyone. Well, I thought I had bad allergies like everyone else around here, but it's a cold instead. All this garbage has settled into my lungs and I feel horrible. I really don't feel like working for my Dad today (I've been helping him out) and Laurel, thankfully, seems to understand what "sick" means and has been quiet and leaving Mommy alone.
