Morning. I twisted my knee somehow yesterday, and it's giving me grief this morning. Argh.

It's a nice brisk 23 degrees here this morning. I'd rather have the nice humid 60 something temps we had over the weekend, though.

Sorry about the knee...hope you feel better.

Is a bit nippy here this a.m. but it is supposed to be 45 today! :-)

Back to work after 4.5 days off...I hope I remember where my desk is!

Morning, Slim! ~hugs~

Amazing how much space a little science project for a 3rd grader can take up.

Yes, I am. The knee's almost back to normal, but any twisting motion lets me know to watch it. Laurel's school is embracing remarkably involved and detailed science projects for third graders this year, without once properly explaining the scientific method. Figures. Her project is horticultural in nature, and she already knows the answers but is working on demonstrating how she achieved such conclusions, aka whether temperature affects seed sprouting. A bag of jiffy pellets with seeds on a heating mat, one bag of jiffy pellets without heat, and a bag sitting out in the unheated garage where it's pretty darn cold. Repeat 3 times by late March and there you have it.

Morning everyone. Last night was one of those fell asleep fast and woke up thinking I just went to sleep nights. Those don't happen often. Today one of the things I have to do is set up a way for Laurel to easily photograph the progress of her science project, so the background and objects around it aren't obtrusive.

Second snow/ice day in a row for Laurel. A bunch of peeps around here are up in arms that they now have to go to school on MLK day. Just give them an additional assignment on civil rights and all will be fine. Sheesh. I wonder if violin lessons will be canceled today too. Better find out after opening time.

Actually, yes. No violin lessons today, either. If school is canceled, lessons are canceled. It's just now getting close to 32 degrees, and ice is starting to melt.

Also, I think one of my neighbors will now need a face transplant. They've been sledding down the big hill like mad yesterday, and today, with all the ice...Well, they went faster then anticipated and hit a tree. Hard. ;)

I always have a professional development day on MLK Day. So, the kids get off, but teachers don't.

That is surprising, Sass.

Saw a few flakes of snow here, but they said it would all stay south of us. Bummer, in a way. I wouldn't mind another snow day, but its still white here anyway.

Third snow/ice day in a row for Laurel. Yikes! Can't wait for her to be back in school, hopefully tomorrow. Everything here is locked in ice, with temperatures about 15 degrees or more from the average, for the rest of the week. Things will start to thaw in the afternoons, then re-freeze at night. It's 17 degrees outside right now, too. This ice coating does make sledding incredibly fun/ dangerously fast, though. ;D

I would love to go sledding ...but I didn't pack any warm clothes ...lol...I did pack some capris and sandals ...it was in the 70s when I left Mobile ...I had to go buy gloves...I had left mine in my car ...but we are actually sorta stuck out here until it warms up Friday ...

We got maybe 4" snow last night/yesterday. I was out working at 330am and the roads were a little slick but not bad at all. This was the first time this winter that my city has done any plowing or salting. They werent lyin when they said they were cutting it back big time.

We've had a winter storm warning since last night. At work people were talking snow day today...not with the new Governor, LOL...
And as much as I love a free paid day off, it's ridiculous to cancel work because of snow - Hello, we live in Maine! If you know there is a storm coming, set your alarm an hour or two earlier than usual so you can shovel your damn self out and get your ass to work! And if your skeert, take a vacation day and stay home.
just my opinion...

Old dog needs to go out at 0445, then runs back and forth on her clickety claws until she wakes up young dog, who then needs to go out, THEN dumb@ss from Birch's work calls his work phone at 5. And so now here I sit, waiting to go to work and wasting time on the puter.

You all have a great day.

Want to go back to sleep, but not happening now. Laurel's going back to school today, but with a 2 hour delay. WOO-HOO!!!

It's 16 outside right now, and the morning news maker here is a hit and run accident that brought down power lines, and took out a fire hydrant; there's a 40 foot geyser along a major roadway down in Charlotte this morning.

Some weird stuff going on with the weather lately! Seems like the last few years the South is getting more winter than the North. We're at 16° this morning (6° w/ the windchill). We start our cars just about 5 min before we leave...no more. Makes for a cold first few minutes of the drive. Heated seats are pure Heaven in such situations! I've been driving my folks' minivan while my car gets the power locks repaired...missing those seats very much.

Our cold winter is being caused by the north Atlantic oscillation, creating what's called the Greenland block of high pressure over the east coast. Cold air hits that high pressure and swoops on down our way. It's causing something similar in Europe.

Sounds like fun, TJ. Many of the school systems to our north and west are in session today, because of all of the snow/ice days we've had.

Looking forward to 60+ degrees, and finding a nice, sunny warm spot to sit in the sun a little later on. Right now, it's just at 32 degrees.
