“I had to fill up a bunch of water balloons for Laurel's class party today. Out of a pack of 50, 12 had flaws. The rest are sitting in a cooler, waiting to go. 3 of them have slow leaks. Yes, water balloons really do jet around the room if they break loose while you're trying to fill them. (Yep, that's a line for the quotes thread!) Also, cats are very curious creatures, and 2 of mine are now soaked from A. chasing loose balloons and B. trying to snag one out of the cooler to play with it.”

“I love those little plastic spouts that come w/ water balloons these days. They make the job soooo much easier! I usually end up soaked anyways but it's way faster to fill up 100.
It always amazes me how fast they disappear.”

“Wow. what a class party. Beach balls, a few gallons of soap bubbles, lei making, pizza, fresh fruit and veggies and less healthy snacks, ice cream sundaes, and a water balloon fight involving over 700 balloons. They wanted to keep that part organized, kind of like an egg toss. Didn't stay that way very long. Especially when the parents on the sidelines got involved. ;D I did find that most of the balloons just bounce off of the intended targets. You have to run up and smack it into the backs of their heads for best effect.”

“Good afternoon, raining out there today and cool outside. I just spent two weeks in the hospital for a surgery to remove a tumor in my neck. Seems like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I got my ass kicked from one end of the hospital to the other. Even though things did not go well and I'm glad to be home. I couldn't take another day in there.”

“Good morning, thanks. It is nice to be home. Doing the IV antibiotic infusions every 8 hours is a PITA. I have 12 more days until that's over. This is the first time I ever picked up an infection in the hospital from a surgery, although I've read about it happening. Once you go in there, you never know what you might catch. Once infection sets into a wound it doesn't heal making matters even worse.”

“Good morning, what a crappy night. My wound vac went haywire and I wasn't sure if the dressing was leaking or what was going on. Finally gave up on trying to fix it so contacted the nurse to come over after midnight. Anything she tried didn't work either. She concluded the vac unit is defective. Isn't that just my luck? They are supposed to come over today with a new unit. I'm fed up with this wound vac already and a month of this to go. It sucks.”

94 today and 96 tomorrow. Yuck. It's already 85 outside right now. Glad I got up early for yard work. I may have to get up even earlier tomorrow, there's a lot to be done outside. It's tempting to get some large ice blocks and float those in the pond; the koi would definitely appreciate it.”

“Oh, it's hotter than heck out there right now. I had to step outside (in the shade) to get cell phone signal, and when I stepped back it felt like stepping into a freezer. The ac is set at 77.

The water in the pond feels warmer than the air. When it's this warm there's oxygen issues. I added a quart of hydrogen peroxide and moved the air stones from the filtration to the main pond body. That should prevent any heat or oxygen related fatalities.”

“Awesome, Div! Have fun!

At 7 am it was 75 with 100% humidity and clear skies. The pond was 84 degrees and steaming off. The koi are hating the heat. We had a massive t-storm last night. 1 inch of rain in 20 minutes. It was pretty cool to watch. Pretty scary, too.

Just had a Time Warner cable tech here. Last week we had some doofus up the road cut through the cable. We've also had power fluctuations. In fact everyone in the neighborhood has. But the cable/ internet connections kept dropping out, so we now have a new modem and new connections at the box out front, the house connection in back, and each cable port in the house. The connection out front was carbon scorched badly. The rest of them were okay.”

“The storms just missed us. Not a drop of rain, but there was a nice cool breeze for all of 15 minutes. My mom called me from Florida yesterday, to grouse about the heat there. We here 2 degrees hotter with higher humidity. AAANNND...They're coming up this weekend! SO is HPM's parents! Let the relativity debacle begin! HPM's birthday is this coming Sunday.
