Also pushing your tongue behind your front two teeth and pinching thumb and middle two fingers together. And then there's chocolate. ;)” 1:04:55 PM 2/08/10 “Oh my...does anybody know any natural remedies for calming down? Sex, and lots of it.” 1:08:57 PM 2/08/10 “Morning everyone. We're getting about another inch or so of rain today. Glad we aren't in line for that storm to the north. My neighbor will soon be starting a womens safety and self defense class. She's going to run through her course objectives with me and evaluate her presentation. I get to go through her technique classes, too. It should be fun. My mom had her thymoma surgery a couple of weeks ago. The oncologist evaluated the removed tumor, and said he doesn't classify it as a cancer despite early biopsy results. She'll be recovering from the surgery for a while though. They cracked her ribcage wide open and glued her back together. She picked up a bit a cold or something while in the hospital (of course) and the coughing is extremely painful. She's on a codeine based cough syrup now, and somewhat loopy.” 4:27:44 AM 2/09/10 “chamomile tea surrounding yourself with lavendar plants. i dry bunches of it and hang it about my home. burning white sage leaves in a dish or shallow bowl in your hand while you speak to your higher power, cupping the smoke in your opposite hand and bringing it over the top of your head. of course i am so crazy that this does not always work.” 5:03:14 AM 2/09/10 “+1 on the sex” 6:17:56 AM 2/09/10 “My school already called off for tomorrow!! Whoo hoo!! I should stay up and drink, but I'm going to bed. I'm so lame (and very tired).” 6:38:44 PM 2/09/10 “Morning. We've got 10+ steady winds, and had several gusts over 45 mph already. It's going to be like this all day. Cold, clear, and windy. I went outside earlier and forgot to put on a windblocking layer. Holy cow, it was like being out there naked, and not in a good way. ;)” 5:30:55 AM 2/10/10 “It's 20 degrees here. The weathermen were a little off, thinking it would stay around 28. Brrr. At least the wind died own overnight. The stars and crescent moon were incredibly clear just at first light.” 4:13:45 AM 2/11/10 “How are the fish? Have you moved them inside the house? Do their colors change with the temperature?” 7:21:53 AM 2/11/10 “Koi are originally from Niigata, Japan, which can get 10 meters of snow in a winter. They're sulking at the bottom of the pond. Their colors actually intensify during cold periods. The baby koi, which are still in quarantine, are in the house. The Japanese goldfish are outdoors, in the 200 gallon quarantine bin, with a drop in heater for a large aquarium, They skulk about in the green water, loitering around the heater.” 7:53:03 AM 2/11/10 “Interesting. Thanks.” 7:58:49 AM 2/11/10 “If I ketch one can I kerry it aroun in my mouf for a minnit? I awreddy ketcht a brem in Unkel Tommys pond bwt so I kno how to ketch them.” 10:38:48 AM 2/11/10 “Pretty quiet here today. I can hear crickets.” 7:26:06 AM 2/15/10 “How many crickets can you hear? How often does this occur? Is there a special reason for their serenade?” 11:42:05 AM 2/15/10 “Besides the fact that HPM's cell phone ring tone is the sound of crickets, not really. :)” 1:31:01 PM 2/15/10 “LOL!” 1:32:38 PM 2/15/10 “Gizmeaux' poots sound like crickets. It took me a while to realize there wasn't a stinkin' cricket in the house.” 2:17:30 PM 2/15/10 “waves hello!!!” 6:08:05 PM 2/15/10 “Morning everyone. It will be about 40 here today, with plenty of wind. Same for tomorrow. Bleah. I hope everyone has a good day.” 5:19:08 AM 2/16/10 “shutdown day from work today, just chillin' after the weekend in Baxter.” 10:50:12 AM 2/16/10 “Goodmorning! sunny and cold here! i took today off to go to mardi gras, but it was in the 20s this am, so i went back to bed! got up about 9:30 and had coffee and finished a book...the collected works of t. s. spivit or something like that sweet book...now back to my book about julia child!” 11:25:05 AM 2/16/10 “Rofl! Sounds like a good day!” 11:29:39 AM 2/16/10 “It's 18 degrees out here; that's colder than Detroit right now. That ain't right.” 4:43:16 AM 2/17/10 “we've been having a pretty lengthy colder than normal snap here also.” 11:58:15 AM 2/17/10 “Whew. My dad was in the hospital yesterday, but got out today. Congestive heart failure, or at least the early stages of it. Long story short, the doc never came to talk to him today, he's on no meds for it right now, no one seems to be too worried about it, and after 7 hours of fighting to get out of the hospital, he finally got someone to release him. I'm glad he's home, and will wait for word of what he'll have to do next. Kind of scary, considering he's 72.” 7:36:08 PM 2/17/10 “Smiley Girl - I suggest that your father see another doctor, like a cardiologist. I have congestive heart failure. When the doctor originally told me that almost two years ago, he added, "That's bad!" He was correct. Mine became worse and worse until I could only sleep while sitting up. The doctor placed me in the hospital last April. I was there for 11 days, while they treated me with chemicals. They eliminated most of the excessive fluids and about 25-pounds from my body. Then I was in a nursing home for 20-days. The nurses were real good to me and I regained the fluids and weight during those 20-days. So I was taken back to the hospital, where I stayed for 8-days. This time they used a machine to drain my blood, slowly, removing the extraneous fluids and whatever. I was connected to the machine for almost two days. Then I was in such bad shape that I was taken to Cardiac Intensive Care. For one day I could not eat, but on the second day I came out of it and with a good appetite. Then it was back to the nursing home for almost two more months. While there, the doctor informed me that I almost died twice while in the hospital the second time. I believe that my problem was due to receiving too much of a medicine for my system. I have not had a chance to question the doctor about it, yet. Since then I have been staying at a daughter's place, but I hope to return to my place soon. I have a camping/hiking trip planned starting this weekend. Also, I have returned to doing serious workouts. I take 6-pills each morning and 10 or 12-pills each evening. I have been at the Univ. of Florida Hospital 7-times since last July. I requested to be included in a stem cell experiment. They have been preparing me for it, but I will not know if I am accepted or not until just about the last minute. My current understanding is that I have two more days of testing. Most of this is to form a basis for comparison during the year following insertion of the stem cells in the heart. The hope is to grow more heart muscle cells. This should make the heart beat stronger to eliminate or improve my condition of congestive heart failure. I believe this experiment is being conducted at the Univ. of Minnesota, too, and probably at other locations. If you're interested, your doctor should be able to direct you to the closest location for learning about the experiment. My appointments have been as follows: 2 - for information exchanges 1 - for a Nuclear test. 1 - for a cath. scan 2 - for insertion of stints in the heart, one stint each visit. 1- for a second Nuclear test to see what may have changed due to the stints I had 5-bypasses placed in my heart in 1990. One of the stints was placed in one of those bypasses! The stints were inserted to eliminate some blockage and thus improve lthe blood flow to areas of interest for some placements of stem cells. Currently I am four diets and a liquid restriction.” 9:45:39 PM 2/17/10 “Dang, NS, that's an awful lot to deal with. You are one tough cookie. :) This coming weekend we're finally going to be in the average temperature range, for the first time since, oh, December. I'm very much looking forward to temperatures in the mid to upper 50s rather than upper 30s to lower 40s. I'd like to get some work done in the garden, since it's actually been dry most of the week, and next week looks like more rain.” 6:10:28 AM 2/18/10 “smiley, don't know if this will work. But call the Hospital Administration and explain who you are and then ask for #1 their liability insurers name #2 the name of the Hospital Attorney (or legal representation) For some reason just ASKING this stuff gets the bone headed paperpushers in a tizzy. LOL” 6:15:18 AM 2/18/10 “I need to get busy and pack my gear....” 7:17:14 AM 2/18/10 “Well, my dad does have a-fib (bad heart rhythm?) which he's known about for a year, which has caused the enlarged heart and a little fluid around the heart. HOwever, the problem this week turns out to be a pulled chest muscle. WHen he takes a deep breath, the enlarged heart pushes on the pulled muscle, causing his pain. He's got a cardiologist in MI, but not in FL. My dad is also pre-diabetic, but apparently I talked him in to doing Weight Watchers on-line this evening. Hopefully he follows through on it! NS, you really are one tough cookie! I hope you get accepted into the study. Thanks for sharing your story. My dad is still peeved about the doc going home before speaking with him. But, its done and over, and he's moving on! I'm sure he'll be out playing more golf when his muscle is better. As for me,I'm plugging along. Jamaica is in sight (ok, its still a long time to June!), and my stupid master's research crap will be done in just a few more months. Whew! OH! My thyroid is back to normal! 2.5 years since I've felt good - life is great again! Yippee!!!!!” 7:19:55 PM 2/18/10 “smiley girl - Glad you're feeling good. I am, too. I feel like talking a little, so here is some more on my condition. pre-diabetic” 7:31:46 PM 2/18/10 “pre-diabetic? I was a borderline diabetic for about two years. While in the hospital, they told me that I was well over the border. Weight loss - Around 1970 I was the first 100 pound loser for WW in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Also, while in the hospital they treated me for aerial fibrillation. BTW, I am 77.” 11:02:23 PM 2/18/10 “Awesome news on the thyroid, Smiley! Man, it's hard to type when you've got a long-haired cat between you and the keyboard+monitor. Someone wants attention this morning. It's supposed to be in the mid 50'd today. Yippee!” 4:19:00 AM 2/19/10 “There's a pregger's black cat with white feet hanging around the shed. I just may start feeding her.” 5:39:45 AM 2/19/10 “To what - the gators?” 5:43:16 AM 2/19/10 “There's a huntin' camp of coonasses right up the road. They might eat the cat.” 5:51:05 AM 2/19/10 “Anyone know if something happened to Trail Talk since last weekend? I couldn't log in using my old account and still can't so I had to make a new user name. If nothing was wrong with the site it must be my computer.” 7:14:59 AM 2/19/10 “Haven't noticed any blips here.” 7:15:34 AM 2/19/10 “I has to be something with my computer then. I still can't login using my old user name.” 7:22:31 AM 2/21/10 “SNOW DAY!!!!” 3:23:36 AM 2/22/10 “Lucky you, all we get is rain. ;) I'm just glad it stayed above freezing at night, for the first time in months.” 3:43:34 AM 2/22/10 “Good morning hugs!” 4:20:30 AM 2/22/10 “Lots of wet snow here this morning. The snow flakes were HUGE last night. Monster flakes.” 4:28:18 AM 2/22/10 “Monster Flake = new trail name for SC:)” 5:22:39 AM 2/22/10 “:(” 5:38:05 AM 2/22/10 “Some good snow coming down here, coulda used it the past weekend the snowshoe trip turned into a three day hiking trip” 5:55:57 AM 2/22/10 “We got the monster flakes right now! It's beautiful out there.” 6:46:19 AM 2/22/10 “We had a short little thunderstorm this morning. That was cool. It scared the bejeezus out of all the cats. :)” 6:47:48 AM 2/22/10 “Today will be partly sunny and in the mid 50s. Tomorrow will be snow/ rain mix and in the mid 30s. I prefer today. I'm spending most of today outside, while it's decent out. The season is a changin'. ;)” 5:53:12 AM 2/23/10 “It's good to be outside, great to be back in California, hoping for the best back at work...” 6:21:47 AM 2/23/10 Jump to Page << prev
