I'm taking a personal day tomorrow. Plan to be in the back yard most of the day getting the rest of my stuff planted and the mulch down. Also meeting my parents and dropping Evie off with them for the night. This will be my first time away from my daughter ever. I wouldn't be such a nervous nelly if they lived closer. 2 hours is a long way away. I plan to be positive and excited during the hand-off. We've already talked about it, and she said "like grandma's house". All should be well.” 4:27:39 PM 5/28/09 “Enjoy your night off Amy!” 5:09:29 PM 5/28/09 “wooooo hoooo.....it's Friday...... ...took the girls downtown yesterday and ate at my fav place....Spot of Tea...yummmm...we sat outside & sipped strawberry iced tea....and watched the sparrows hop around... ...then they wanted to go home and go swimming...so we did...the 5 yr old decided to try the mask we got her....next thing ya know, she took off the arm floaties, and was all over the pool....we swam from about 1 to 7:30....we were all PUCKERED!!!!..they were exhausted...quick supper & the 5 yr old was off to bed....well..she sorta passed out....lol.... ...wondering where our RichB is??? ...hoping SG had a nice eve off??? ...& waving hello to Sass!!!!” 4:44:20 AM 5/29/09 “I once heard the condition resulting from hours spent in the water described as the dreaded "Pruney Fingers" LOL Can't remember where the hell that came from. Now... I knew about Boney Fingers from the Hoyt Axton song: Work your fingers to the bone --- what do you get? Boney Fingers! (occasionally, fangers) But the 'Pruney Fingers' was a new one. Anyway.... It's Friday! Phuckit! ” 5:45:58 AM 5/29/09 “Tonight is the night off. Today I'm running too many errands and not getting enough gardening done! Not fair!! Hope you are all having a good day. Its beautiful here. Can't wait to finally get outside.” 6:45:48 AM 5/29/09 “Hey all. Tilt, I say pruney fingers. I've spent a good portion of my day running errands too. Have stopped at a few garage sales in between. Scored a brand new pair of Teva flip flops for $1. =) And now I'm off to the dreaded Brownie meeting. Second to last one for the year, thank God.” 12:18:06 PM 5/29/09 “Good morning, I spent all week in the local hospital with a staph infection in my blood. Last Sunday, I woke up with a fever and by the afternoon was almost 103 and I was feeling worse so I went to the ER. They admitted me and I was on IV antibiotics all week. I was really sick with shaking chills, sweats, weakness and dizziness. The fever didn't break until Wednesday and I started feeling better. I was discharged last night and the nurse was here this morning to get me started on home IV infusions. I'll have to play nurse now and do IV treatments myself at home for the next 9 days. Hopefully, by then the infection will be iradicated and I can go back on chemo. That has been stopped while I have an infection, but should start back up after this week. That's what caused the infection...a small wound from the Erbitux rash I have became infected and got into my bloodstream. I'm just glad to be home. It was a terrible week.” 8:33:31 AM 5/30/09 “I'm glad you're home too RichB; so sorry you have been sick. =( Rest up and get better quick!” 4:24:02 PM 5/30/09 “Oh RichB! Hopefully you continue to mend. We'll be thinking about you. Baseball season is over. Its bittersweet. G's team lost 6-3 in the 10th inning (high school games only go 7 innings). They had plenty of chances to win the game, but blew all of them. On the brighter side, I get my husband back, for the most part. He's still got 2 meetings this week, and is hosting regional games this weekend. I got a fair amount done in my yard this weekend, too. It looks so awesome this year. And, Evie survived her night away, as did I. I actually enjoyed it. :) One more day this weekend to catch up on laundry, cleaning, etc. 10 more wake-ups before the school year is over...I can't wait.” 5:59:02 PM 5/30/09 “get better fast Rich!!!” 2:34:34 AM 5/31/09 “RICHB....I missed you....glad you are better...prayers & good wishes coming your way!!!! ...had a quiet day yesterday...the kids went to a swim/sleepover...wooo hooo....so my sweetie took me to dinner...nice eve for a convertible...had a killer steak...then looked at the new Camaro & Mustangs....boy the Camaro has no leg room in the back ...lol...but I LOVE it....( I just don't have $30,000 just now...).I still like my Mustang body the best....1995....but it needs sooooo much work....especially since Lee's dad backed into it...we are currently looking for a door for it.... ...yesterday I cleaned out my closet...ya'll should be proud of me.....I got rid of half my clothes....it was hard....I am a sorta traditionalist.....I love to save things in case I need them someday..... ...I leave for N Alabama Wed & Ohio Thursday!!!!!!...I guess it is time to start packing huh??? ...if ya see a cute Mocha Escort with 2 kayaks headed North...give me a toot of your horn!!!!” 6:21:20 AM 5/31/09 “Good morning, Thanks everyone, I'm feeling a lot better and got out yesterday to go flyfishing. I caught a bunch of trout, but with all the rain we had during the week, I expected the fish to be feeding a bit more. Everything is so green from the rain and lots of birdsong out in the woods. I missed riding my new road bike last week so I might take it out for a spin today.” 6:58:42 AM 5/31/09 “Glad to hear you are feeling better RichB.” 7:15:43 AM 5/31/09 “Good Morning! boy Divinity, do i understand needing to clean out your closet and wanting to keep things.” 7:21:31 AM 5/31/09 “Good Morning! Rain here through the night. Soft enough to be quiet but hard enough to soak. The garden is growing great. I need to get over to the garden center and find something to use to support my snowpeas and pole beans today. Also get to get my hairs cut and work in the classroom at Ab's school. Birch is doing well, but calls and emails are becoming less frequent. He doesn't have much free time. They sent a good portion of their gear off on a slow boat across the world yesterday. Kinda surreal!” 4:54:09 AM 6/02/09 “Morning everyone. I finished staining and sealing the teak outdoor table this morning. It now has a nice gold tint to it. We didn't like the silvery fade of the untreated teak, or the way it got so dirty quickly. Next up, cleaning and treating the deck...ugh. Alas, the cleaner used on the table and chairs did fry the grass downslope, even though it was pre-soaked per the instructions. It's going to be around 93 here today. Bleah. My brain is still stuck in a Wyoming winter, and I think it'd rather stay there. :) Speaking of which, it's raining out in Yellowstone this morning, and a bunch of buffalo wandered in front of the webcam earlier. Coolness. Toodles.” 8:26:49 AM 6/02/09 “ok...I'm up & almost packed.....sheesh....packing for 7 weeks is hard....and I never sleep good before a trip, so I have a headache....I don't feel like packing the kayaks....( I do have my backpacking stuff packed...)...7am & I need a nap!!! ...ya'll have a GREAT day!!!!!” 5:14:28 AM 6/03/09 “I'm worthless. I have a good many things to get done before the end of the week. Friday night we drive to Atlanta, fly out Sat morning and spend the week on a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands. Bus partner is a sailor so it's just a chartered boat with NO crew. Cuts the cost at least in half. I anticipate my schedule to be as follows: 7: drag out of bed. 715: a guy can hope, can't he. 717: Cheerios for breakfast 725: shower 745: first snorkel of the day 930: first rum and coke of the day 1000: snorkel 1130: rum, coke, and pb&j sandwich 1300: read for a bit 1500: snorkel I think you see a pattern here.” 5:18:52 AM 6/03/09 “The house behind us hosted bonco last night. That's a mindless dice game common among ladies in the south. Maybe it's common everywhere, don't know. Well, we turn the tv off about 10:30 and hear voices. There are only two houses close to us and one is maybe 100 feet to our right and the other is maybe 300 feet behind us. We go out on the deck and it was the house behind us. We figured they were playing bonco by their pool. Then we noticed the lights were out. They'd finished the game, went down to the pool and were skinny dipping. To hear about a dozen, drunk, forty something women skinny dipping and chunky dunking was dang funny.” 5:22:31 AM 6/03/09 “Have a great sail, dayhiker! I need to sell my sailboats. I keep hoping I'll get to where I can sail them again. Drive safe, Div! last edited: 6/03/09 6:04:29 AM” 6:01:08 AM 6/03/09 “We've got 8 folks on a 4BR catamarran. I just hope the usual pre-trip drama doesn't rear it's head. My other business partner that's going has had hers show up. He middle daughter had a compression fracture of the big bone in the forearm on Mon night. The other engineer in that office had a preganant wife due in late July. The baby came yesterday, 7 weeks early. Mom and baby are fine, but that's a lot of drama for 24 hours.” 6:05:22 AM 6/03/09 “I woke up at 4 am this morning, but didn't crawl out until 5 or so. I just pretended to be asleep. Bleah. I've been outside massacring Those damned Japanese beetles this morning. I hate those things. Apparently the stuff I used kills them nice and slowly. SUFFER, YOU BA$TURDS!” 5:42:26 AM 6/04/09 “Dang, don't mess with TB.” 6:33:24 AM 6/04/09 “a little torture before breakfast is always nice” 6:38:10 AM 6/04/09 “Good morning, we had a rainy week and more on the way tomorrow. It looks nice out today so I'll take the bike out for a ride. Only 4 more days to do these IV antibiotics and I'll be glad when it's finished. Hopefully, my blood tests comes back okay with no infection next week.” 7:07:52 AM 6/04/09 “Good Morning!!! ...it is freekin COLD in Ohio..... ...ok...I caved...I had a DR Pepper Wed...and I am paying for it....(driving 1000 miles didn't help...) ...Wendy (Trixie) rode with my son & I ..we dropped her off somewhere along the road in Kentucky...it is GREAT to have someone who talks with you on a trip!!!...I enjoyed her company & the trip went fast.... ...I am almost sure they make filing unemployment so hard, so you just give up & they don't have to pay it .... ...RichB....hope you are feeling better!!! ...goosebumpy hugs to all....” 4:39:44 AM 6/05/09 “I am almost sure they make filing unemployment so hard, so you just give up & they don't have to pay it .... Div, both South Carolina and North Carolina ran out of unemployment funds. They're not going to be able to pay anymore. We have a strong low pressure system going by, and those always make me sleepy. I gave up last night and crawled in bed at about 7:45, waking up only once when HPM crawled into bed at 11:45. That was the best night's sleep I've had in a long time. Oh yeah, we also are now up to 2.15 inches of rain. :) Rain is good.” 6:23:01 AM 6/05/09 “Good morning, Divinity, good to hear you arrived okay. It's cool here today too and raining again. We've had rain 9 out of the last 12 days. I went for a good bike ride last evening 31 miles and 1700 feet of climbing. It felt great to be out on the bike. I missed riding it last week. I'd go for another ride today it wasn't raining. I went to the oncologist yesterday. I'm going back on the chemo next Thursday if my blood test on Monday shows the infection is gone. The nurse is coming on Monday to draw the blood sample. Tuesday I'm getting another esophagus dilation and that will be the 4th one in the last 3 months. They are working, but in small increments. It still takes me forever to eat solid foods.” 8:29:36 AM 6/05/09 “keep getting better Rich!” 9:01:17 AM 6/05/09 “Good morning ... i love the way ohio smells ...the peonies are in bloom...i finally got in touch with unemployment after 19 calls and 10 min on hold...best wishes to ya richb...and hugs to nowslimmer...how much longer now smiley?” 3:27:40 AM 6/06/09 “good night. i'll get just a few hours and then i'll leave. see ya'll next week.” 3:55:28 AM 6/06/09 “good lord dizzy...it gets dark & I am ready for sleep!!!” 4:18:45 AM 6/06/09 “North Mississippi is cooler today than it was last week. Maybe we will get a few days of relief before we go back into the 90's. 95 isn't too bad...its the 85% humidity that beats you down.” 6:30:37 AM 6/06/09 “We've got gentle rain and cool temps. Perfect for today! Helped me sleep in until 6:50. I was trying for 7:30, so just laid in bed and listened to the rain and the radio. Finally got my house cleaned up last night, just a few more things to take care of today.=) You all enjoy your Sunday!” 5:07:02 AM 6/07/09 “I'm sick of spring. can we have summer yet? Because of this long cool spring, my apple tree not only has cedar apple rust, but also apple scab! GRRR!!!!! Oh well. Off to charge my camera and phone then I'm going hiking. last edited: 6/07/09 5:11:06 AM” 5:14:40 AM 6/07/09 “Divinity, I've got 4 1/2 more days! I have a LOT of packing to do in my classroom. I'm headed to the high school next year. Sass, we got a few sprinkles, but that was it. BUmmer. We need some rain. Today on the to-do do list: Church (done), laundry (ha!), lunch with the in-laws, and two graduation parties. I also need to figure out what I'm doing in the next 4 days with the kids. I'm done, they're done. Its challenging to keep them engaged lately.” 9:08:08 AM 6/07/09 “My poor dog is sick. And he has to wait to go to the vet until I get home from work @ 2:30. =( Poor guy is panting and panting and shaky. His eyes don't look good either and he keeps finding out of the way places to curl up. I hope he's still around when I get home! =( Murphy strikes again. I hate having to deal with this stuff alone. Cross your fingers and hope that he's okay. We'll be so sad if he dies. He's only 11.” 4:20:48 AM 6/08/09 “SG...woooo hooo!!!! ...sass...I hope he gets better!!!! ...I forgot how wonderful the weather can be in Ohio...& it smells sooo wonderful!!! ...granddaughter graduates from 5th grade today...wooooo hooo..... ...and my son leaves Thursday to live in Boston :( I am sooo proud of him!!!!...but I will miss him!!!” 5:14:23 AM 6/08/09 “That knee pain is back. It was gone, then I went hiking and it's back again. GRRRR.” 5:45:43 AM 6/08/09 “Got to color all the grey in my hair in a few minutes, and get a few things ready for this afternoon's class luau. All Laurel is talking about is actually getting go to Hawaii, which isn't happening any time soon. You think that trip to Yellowstone this past Christmas was expensive...” 4:51:36 AM 6/09/09 “BOO!!!...heading out to COSI in a few...ya'll have a GREAT day!!!!!” 6:26:25 AM 6/10/09 “I just spent 2 hours trying to id the spider that ran across my foot and gave me a massive case of the goosebumps, even though its rather warm out. It's about 3 inches long, with long shiny black legs in front and the remaining legs are shorter and golden brown with a slight orange cast. The abdomen was an elongated triangle, and this sucker was fast and surprisingly heavy. It ran out on to my foot (I was wearing sandals) sat there for a few moments then took off like a shot. Scared me quite a bit. I've researched spiders before, but I've never seen one anything like this before. I've changed into my hiking boots, since I'm still doing a lot of work outdoors today.” 9:25:30 AM 6/10/09 “Eww my son got some great shots of a black spider killing a granddaddy long legs thd other day it had green fangs eww” 9:13:29 PM 6/10/09 “I'm up working the night shift. Y'all have a good night!” 10:34:40 PM 6/10/09 “Good Morning...am I the first one awake??? ...well...my son is on his way to the airport to fly to Boston:( but I will see him at Christmas!!!...only 6 months away... ...Cosi...I forgot... lots of little screaming kids go there...( no offense to those here who have kids!!!...these are groups of daycare kids with the adults not paying attention...one kid came up to Leah and took the headphones from her...one kid , while we were eating lunch got folded up in his stroller...and one kid came within an inch...( I'm not exaggerating) of putting his mouth on a metal container filled with dry ice stuff...kids screaming, pushing and running all over the place...maybe I am getting old...it was expensive & I wish I had went to the zoo and packed our lunch...Lesson learned... ...beautiful weather here...cools down at night, and the summer smells are awesome!!!...we had fresh, steamed snap peas last eve...yummmm ...ya'll have a GREAT day!!!” 3:40:02 AM 6/11/09 Is this it TB? “ ![]() Long Jawed Orb Weaver” 6:48:17 AM 6/11/09 “I actually got to sleep in this morning. That meant not crawling out until 7:30. Wow, an extra 2.5 hours is nice. Of course other things have since happened to make the morning less than pleasant, but I'm ignoring them. Laurel and I already made a cake this morning, and she's downstairs staring at it, willing it to cool off faster. It's butter pecan, so I'm just doing a simple maple-rum glaze for it. We're supposed to be cleaning out the garage a bit today, too. I'm honestly putting it off until a little later, since our garage faces full east and I don't want the sun shining in on me the entire time. When I went in to Laurel's c;ass for her party on Tuesday, I saw why she has problems focusing on her work. Most of the kids, even during math lesson time, were up out of their seats, running around and yelling. One girl who gives Laurel a lot of flak was screaming and crying, throwing things, because she lost a game, or got a wrong answer, or something like that. This kid's been begging for a play date with Laurel and her friend Korbin for some time. After watching this girl, and finding out this is how she always acts, there's no damn way she's coming over here. This is what the kids want, too. Laurel's told everyone about the koi pond, the garden, the flowers, the yard cat, etc. The other fun thing? This girl lives right up the dang road from us. Crappity. Fortunately, we've got a busy summer planned. :D” 6:53:27 AM 6/11/09 “Nope, that wasn't it, Chili. It didn't have banding on its legs, and color was clear black, golden orange and deep brown. I looked for it this morning when i was outside, but I haven't seen it again. It's a roaming type, not a sit in the web and wait type. Davesgarden.com has 83 pages of "id the bug/spider" pages. I tried that site (awesome by the way) and a few others.” 7:24:54 AM 6/11/09 “Did you try this site: http://www.whatsthatbug.com/? About the only useful thing Sarge ever posted to TT! It's really good for identifying unusual bugs, moths, etc. Not that anyone cares, aside from Divinity, but my dog is no better. If his meds don't perk him up by Tuesday he'll be put down. So, our fantastic fun plans for the weekend have been canceled and now we'll hang at home force feeding the poor guy two different pills 2x a day. The past 30 days have been hell. Things have GOT to get better soon.” 6:12:03 PM 6/11/09 “Oh Joy, I'm sorry about your pup. That just totally sucks.” 7:16:59 PM 6/11/09 Jump to Page << prev
