Hope its something else. Watery red eye, but not #&%!$ or crusty. Going on 48 hours. I need to know if I have to stay home tomorrow or not!” 7:53:45 AM 3/15/09 “Good morning, another nice day outside. I'm getting a late start, but heading out for a hike soon. I wanted to get out early, but the morning is flying by. SG, I hope it's nothing serious and they can resolve the eye problem.” 8:23:35 AM 3/15/09 “Double ear infection, and an eye infection. During our 3.5 hour wait, she played on the stairs, ran around the building (inside), colored, read books, and otherwise acted like nothing was wrong with her. How's a mom to know about a double ear infection??” 2:05:42 PM 3/15/09 “She isn't until the child has a fever or something. Too bad there's no "check Kid light".” 2:42:06 PM 3/15/09 “I'm up, don't want to be... Laurel sobbed and cried her way all through the morning today. She wouldn't go to sleep until very late last night. Ugh. That pretty much set the precedent for the rest of my day. We're going over to our neighbor's house and finishing up a painting project for them. We're better painters. ;P” 5:24:08 AM 3/16/09 “Geez, I wish you guys were my neighbors! Laurel still sick? I just got a call from work, my 10:30 and 12:00 apts just called and cancelled. There went 2/3 of my work for the day. Can't be upset at the pt though, bad reaction to chemo. =( The woman is a long time regular who has been through three rounds of lung cancer. She's a teensy tiny thing that looks like the wind could blow her away. If you all are of a mind to, say a prayer for Judy P this morning. I hope she feels better soon. I guess I'll take off my work clothes (and put on something else),and go for a walk this morning. Abby has a project due the 25th called the talking zoo. Her animal is a scarlet quetzel (bird from the rainforest of C. America). She has researched the bird, written a report on it and I get to make a costume for her so that all the kids in school can push her "button" and she'll rattle off facts about the quetzel. This costume is going to be tricky. I have loads of ideas. I guess I just need to go and buy the fabric and start working on it. I'm thinking a cape with wings that attach to her wrists, a hood with a ruffle of "feathers" on top and two 5 foot tail "feathers", wired so they stay off the ground. Not really looking forward to the process. I should just ask my mother in law to do it. Why aren't I?” 6:06:13 AM 3/16/09 “Laurel's not sick, she just stayed up way too late. It was difficult just get her to stay in her room. THe costume sounds like fun. If it's a rush job, then it's no fun at all.” 6:21:54 AM 3/16/09 “Good morning, looks like another nice day on the way. The weekend was perfect for hiking and I got out day hiking three days in a row. I pulled a quad muscle by slipping on some leaves on a steep downhill so now I'm limping until it heals. Sass, the costume sounds like a fun project.” 6:34:31 AM 3/16/09 “It should be fun. I have a machine and sew a bit, but usually my projects are either very simple, or end in frustration. So, I'm kind of dreading it. I need to just do it. My MIL gave me some patterns, which should help. I just listed all the materials we'll need. This thing is probably going to cost $50. I think Abby might be a quetzel for halloween! last edited: 3/16/09 7:05:30 AM” 7:10:24 AM 3/16/09 “Howdy we are sitting here at the hospital the dr said 6 to 8 hours in surgery scheduled at 11 but they started late we are hoping they can get all the cancer im going to read hugs to all” 12:11:25 PM 3/16/09 “Did I see Chappy's name above? Haven't seen him on this thread in a long time. E's on the mend...she played the pine cone pick up game in the back yard until I dragged her away. I think its going to be a very fun summer with her!” 5:39:24 PM 3/16/09 “ ![]() There is the bird. Resplendent quetzel, not scarlet. I have $38.00 worth of bits and MIL is coming over tomorrow for broccoli soup and sewing. Glad E's feeling better SG. last edited: 3/16/09 5:41:05 PM” 5:56:59 PM 3/16/09 “what a beautiful bird!! ..I'm tired!!!!...but have to work.... ...7 hours of surgery for Lee's dad...I know the hospital was glad it was over...I counted 25 people at one time in the waiting room...he is in ICU for awhile....Dr said he got all the cancer he could ...and things looked good.... ...thanks for the good wishes & prayers!!! ...now off to a full day of work & then back to the hospital.... ...hope today is a good day for our TT kids!!! ...hugs... OHHHH... Happy St Patricks day!!!! last edited: 3/17/09 3:25:24 AM” 3:37:27 AM 3/17/09 “Morning! I have a walk, cleaning the house, a client at my office, helping in the classroom, and taking Abby to the dentist for four fillings today, then the MIL coming for costume work. Going to a busy day. Poor Abby is freaking out over her fillings. Sweet thing has her mommy's rotten teeth. =(” 5:30:12 AM 3/17/09 “mornin'... got back from a weekend in Baxter feeling relaxed like a wet noodle... beautiful bird, good luck with the costume. Ariana has a report coming up on Harriet Tubman and she has to dress like her. She's worried about not being black, LOL...” 5:38:59 AM 3/17/09 “Makeup? Dollar store dark foundation? I, personally, would have clawed my face off as a child had someone coated me with the stuff.” 5:53:22 AM 3/17/09 “yeah, she'll just have to be a white ex-slave. when the school was run by nuns, the kids dressed up on All Saints day as saints. We'd get a picture as an example and everyone would do their own thing. I don't really sew, but the most fun costume we made was when the girls in Ana's class were a native American saint. I folded a piece of soft brown cloth in half and cut a hole for her head. We decorated it with rawhide and beads, made a cape, a head band and a belt, all using safety pins and a glue gun. It was a really cool costume and other kids wore it after that.” 9:47:12 AM 3/17/09 “Happy St Paddy's Day! I've dyed my hair red and am wearing green. I began chopping up veggies for Lamb Stew and enlisted Steve in the work too, I'll put it on the stove when I get home later after my psych appt. ErinAnne and her fiancee` will be coming over for dinner tonight. I finally gave in and called that landlord this morning. He still hasn't finished going through all of the applications yet. Please keep on praying.” 11:19:07 AM 3/17/09 “What a cool looking bird. I can make some great trout flies from feathers like that. Divinity, glad things looked good with the surgery.” 12:14:56 PM 3/17/09 “Divinity, glad to hear the good news. I have no other comments. I'm not in a great mood right now.” 4:17:25 PM 3/17/09 “what's wrong smiley girl?” 4:19:16 PM 3/17/09 “Just been a tough day. Tomorrow will be better.” 5:11:43 PM 3/17/09 “i hope it is for you.” 10:57:10 PM 3/17/09 “The Irish Stew came out perfect. ErinAnne and Kenyan brought us more boxes. The landlord gave the apartment to someone else. A few shots of whiskey took the sting out. Nah, not really. 44 days left. The search continues. I looked on craigslist, there is only one apartment with a garage today. I'll call them tomorrow morning.” 11:01:02 PM 3/17/09 “i do get the feeling ya'll have stopped listening. not that i blame you. i shall move on then. you have been a good bunch of friends until i wore you out. thank you.” 2:38:56 AM 3/18/09 “...got called back to hospital yesterday...Lee's dad had leakage...not good....so they did surgery again and reinforced the sutures...it is now an hour by hour if he makes it...when we left last night he was resting...they gave him a bunch of pain meds...they want him to sleep & rest so still on respirator... ...thanks for all your good wishes & prayers....” 3:19:59 AM 3/18/09 “Prayers, Divinity... Yay Laurel's off at school now, and she made it through the morning without whining, crying, coughing or sneezing. Well, she did sneeze once we got to school. Damned allergies. I made a really good corned beef with cabbage, onions and potatoes last night. There's only 4 slices of corned beef left, just enough for a sandwich! Alas, HPM didn't put away the horseradish sauce last night so now it's corned beef sans horseradish, which is a shame. I love the stuff, especially when I have a cold or allergies. I could always make a reuben instead. :) THe weather should be decent today, so I'll be puttering in the garden later on, pulling out the weeds that have literally exploded all over the yard. Yikes.” 5:02:09 AM 3/18/09 “Sounds good Treebait! My mom invited me over for corned beef and cabbage yesterday. Big tease as she's in FL still. We ended up eatting homemade broccolli soup. At least it was green. ;) Divinity and Pam, you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope Lee's dad pulls through and that Pamela's family finds a home soon. Today I have one apt, very early, a girl scout leader meeting late and packing for hocking hills in between. I'm so excited to be going camping!” 5:08:53 AM 3/18/09 “... Buddy's liver is not working properly....they said at his age & with cancer he is NOT a candidate for transplant... ...they did take him off the respirator...but he is in alot of pain & pulled his tube out of his nose.... ...it is not going well...” 3:54:59 PM 3/18/09 “oh Divinity, I'm so sorry....I'll keep you all in my prayers tonight.” 6:00:46 PM 3/18/09 “Sorry to hear that news Divinity. I've read a Whipple procedure is a harsh surgery. I hope he improves and gets through this.” 7:06:23 PM 3/18/09 “Woo woo woo! I beet ever buddy up this mornin! I do not meen I wuld "beet" ever buddy up bwt but I wuld get Derty Darrel some very good ressel ups if I never get my hands and mouf on him! last edited: 3/19/09 4:25:20 AM” 4:23:40 AM 3/19/09 “Morning!!!! Me and the pup are going to drive out to where the free city mulch pile is and fill the car with the stuff, :) I took some pain killer and wrapped my leg so I should be good to go :)” 5:22:24 AM 3/19/09 “Hey Pammie!” 10:13:53 AM 3/19/09 “hi Stovie! hey everybody, i am sorry for being a drama queen the other day. i am just freaking out over this whole mess. Divinity, i'll keep Buddy in my thoughts.” 10:34:00 AM 3/19/09 “...Good Morning!!!... ...I was at work yesterday, so I called Lee to see how his dad was...he said he is sitting up in a chair...my chin hit the floor....his liver is working ...his kidneys are working ...but he isn't awake yet....the Dr & nurses say that is normal..and in a few days he should be fine... ...thanks for all the best wishes & prayers...maybe he will wake up this weekend!!! ...IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!” 3:04:51 AM 3/20/09 “Yeah! I'm so glad Divinity. Hope all continues to go well. Well, I'd hoped to get out of here by 8am. Might still happen, but we're all still in our PJs. Everything is packed up and by the front door or in the car. You all have a great weekend!” 4:49:11 AM 3/20/09 “Nothing like a Pajama Party! last edited: 3/20/09 7:35:38 AM” 7:53:14 AM 3/20/09 “Good morning, Divinity, glad to hear things have improved and I hope they go well. My PET scan was canceled this morning because the machine broke down. They asked if I wanted to come in over the weekend, but next week seemed better so I'll wait. I hate that test and the extra few days will give my arm and shoulder some time to heal. My leg has healed so I'm going hiking over the weekend. Have a good weekend!” 8:28:48 AM 3/20/09 “Back in the saddle again. Got a new job and I'm filling out piles of new hire paperwork again today. It's going to strange not being a contractor anymore but the benefits of being an FTE should round that out a bit.” 8:59:41 AM 3/20/09 “Kewl Beans” 11:40:57 AM 3/20/09 “I just had the best 12 hours of sleep I've had in months! I took two sleeping pills by misstake instead of one. I woke up with my book by my side, my reading light on, and I can't remember a thing about what I read. Note to self: Don't do that again” 11:49:30 AM 3/20/09 “ROFL! Stovie, that's how my grandfather tried to suicide- by taking too many sleeping pills. He was in an ambulatory coma for a few days after that.” 1:25:35 PM 3/20/09 “Divinity, I am so glad to hear the good news! Rich, you have a good hike. I have often found hikes to be very healing. Stovie, been there done that; LOL! HPM, what is an FTE? And here is my news: WE GOT THE APARTMENT!!! Yes! We got the apartment, the one with the pool, jacuzzi, apartment recreation room with pool table; 2br, 2ba, 1150 sq ft, the fireplace and the garage. Almost brand new, fruit trees on the hills, beautiful views! Oh my gosh, it's like a huge boulder has been lifted off of my shoulders! I finally feel blessed! last edited: 3/20/09 3:16:04 PM” 3:32:08 PM 3/20/09 “FTE = full time employee For the last several years I've been a technology contractor. As a contractor I do all the work functions of an FTE but I'm not an employee of the company I work at so I get none of the benefits. No paid time off, healthcare, ect unless you contract through an agency. The flip side is contractors usually make a more $ than FTEs.” 4:46:59 PM 3/20/09 “ahhh, but health care means everything. trust me, we have many many thousands in medical bills from just the last three years. this was stuff, hospitalizations, that you just don't count on happening.” 6:00:30 PM 3/20/09 “Agreed. I always keep some sort of health insurance. It's really expensive as a contractor though.” 6:36:56 PM 3/20/09 “yeah, damn doctors got us over a freaking barrel and are laughing all the way back to their jags.” 10:24:07 PM 3/20/09 “Good morning, HPM, congrats on the new job. Pam, Congrats on the new apartment, sounds nice. I agree about hikes being healing and I'm leaving soon. Looks like it'll be a great day to hike. 50 and sunny.” 6:39:27 AM 3/21/09 “Thank you Rich, you have just the sort of hike you need. I'll be thinking of you. Btw everyone, I forgot to tell you, the apartment we are going to is exactly the same price we are paying for this run down piece of trash.” 1:20:21 PM 3/21/09 Jump to Page << prev
