Good morning. Slogging through what I hope is the last 5 weeks of winter:) I don't think I want to do this again next year, but who knows. In a couple of weeks I can start riding my bicycle, shortly after I can cruise the river in the kayak and then, perhaps, a few local hikes. I really want to spend a couple of weeks on the SHT this year. Two weeks should be time enough to get completely immersed in it. I should be entering the summer in pretty good shape for all the activities, since my son and I have been working out at the local gym since early November.

Everyone have the day of your choosing:)

It's getting old isn't it? This winter has been long and hard.

We have a sleepover winding down over here. I'd like to choke the kid who is our guest. The kid is a couch potato supreme and doesn't want to do anything but watch TV. I hate that.
One hour until her dad comes and rescues us. Yep, I think Abby needs rescuing now too.

Snow has started to fly.

We went out early this morning (thanks to Evie) and got the errands and grocery shopping done. 4-8" on its way - we probably already have 2".

My school board was presented a plan to lay off 9 teachers this year. No doubt I'll be getting a pink slip, but with shuffling that happens who knows if I'll actually be called back. Perhaps I'll spend anohter summer job searching.

For now, its back to cleaning and the laundry. :(

Morning! The sun is shining. Down to eight sticks of firewood. I'm saving it for next weekend. Goodbye nice cozey house, hello 60°!

Skipping church this morning. Abby's running a low fever, I think brought on by a couple of teeth pushing their way in. These huge teeth in such a little face just look so funny.

Enjoy your Sundays.

Okay, bear with me, I'm writing this without coffee. Another gray day and about -1, but will warm up as the day moves on. A little more housecleaning today; the cat got stuck in a cobweb yesterday and it took 15 minutes to cut her loose:) The good news is the cobwebs make excellent fire starter, once balled up.

Have the day of your choosing.

Laurel's out sick today too, Sass. She had a cough yesterday, plus a fever for a few hours. Now she feels really punky and could barely keep a few bites of breakfast down. Laurel was already awake at 5 am too, which is very unusual. I think she was up most of the night too; I kept hearing small noises coming from the direction of her room most of the night.

Abby has not woken up yet. Usually the kid is awake by 6:30. She's working on cutting two eye teeth on top of a nasty chest cold. No puking yet, thankfully!

About 3 weeks ago Reece yacked in an Academy Sports on a Sunday. Wed, baby Addie had it. The next Sunday, the other 3 of us had it.

I feel a little tingle in my tummy this morning and Reece spent most of the night snuggled up to my wife. We're doomed. Oh yeah, and by the time we got Addie to church her nose was already green in spite of just being cleaned up. She had a runny nose only when I wiped the breakfast off her face as we walked out the door.

mornin'!

the kids were out of school sick most of the week before vacation - I'm sure some of it was attributed to mom's inability to get out of bed, but she swore they were sick.

Today is a SNOW day! We only had a two hour delay, but if ever there was a day to call off work, this would be it.

I opened my front door this am, and the snow on the front step was just above my knees. It was nice to have the time to shovel and enjoy the snow falling...but I'd love to be home watching it snow.

I feel bad for my little wild birdies...I didn't get to fill the feeders this weekend and the snow is up to within a few inches of some of them - they are so low that a neighbor dog stole one of their yummy bird cakes. His mom said his breath smelled like peanut butter, LOL....anyway, I'm going to make my way out there to fill the feeders, but I don't think it will be today. (I want a pulley line for my feeders!)
I made a bird cake this weekend that smelled really good - I ground up fruit that passed enough so the kids won't eat it and added it to suet, peanut butter, and corn flakes.

yum. :)

Dang Dayhiker, you reminded of the time Laurel had long, dangling snotsicles, on a 9 hour drive back form the Smokies when she was about 3! She'd sneeze, and then have another long dangler! We went through an entire box of kleenex, half a roll of paper towels, and then a bunch of tp I raided from a restaurant. All that was with medication, too!

Don' wanna get up...haven't slept more than 3 hours a night for the last week or so. Stress and the oncoming bout of depression suck rocks. On the brighter side, we've been consistently 10 degrees or more below average temps this winter, except for that nice week where it stayed about 70 and sunny. We should be close to average temperatures by Thursday though. My radish seedlings are booming too, despite the cold. It's 18 degrees out right now, and i love coldframe gardening.

Emma has a, "flu mimicing virus that is extremely contagious." I guess it gets to run through the family like whatever Reece brought to us 3 weeks ago. Good times.

I feel for ya tb. I can't imagine the stress. I'll be thinking about yall. I think I've spent part of the winter in the depression end of things as I worry about making payroll through the summer.

That's awful Treebait. I think I'd have a meltdown with that kind of rest pattern. I used to go to school with a chiropractor who swore the supplemental melatonin worked wonders.

SG, last night I got to bed before 10 pm, ans woke up at midnight. Argh. I tried very hard to lie still, so I wouldn't wake HPM up with tossing and turning or wandering around the house. He has 2 interviews today, so I've got my fingers crossed.

I do kind of wish I'd gotten up around 3 am though. The sex toy sales program that's broadcasting about then is too funny, especially when they talk about the pretty colors, or the things that have power cords "so the little rascals can't escape."

Good morning, it's nice out there and supposed to be in the 40's later. I'm thrilled to be home after being in the hospital since Saturday. My feeding tube malfunctioned so they removed it. I'm just glad I can swallow okay and didn't have to get the tube replaced. Now, I'm hoping it lasts. I think it should as things heal each day. Saturday, I'm going hiking. I planned to get out last Saturday, but my feeding tube malfunctioned and I went to the ER instead. I never thought I'd be there for there for 4 days.
