We didn't want to spend all day there, just a few hours. We took a smaller highway (two laner) most of the way across NY, through the finger lakes area and stopped a bunch. It was a long day but the start at Niagra and stops for ice cream, etc made it good. Niagra was by far the least favorite stop of the trip for the grown ups. It was fun but Birch and I were really partial to the historical sites. And the food; we ate good on that trip! Evie is going to be a great traveler since you're starting her out so early. I remember how hard it was to keep 'B entertained when she had to be in the car for 12 hours down to GA. It got easier everytime. Day off today. We're headed to the library, to try and find edge dressing for boots, and to see the American Girl movie before it's gone from the theatre. Bill flipped out last night...I think the strain of everything finally hit him...we have boxes of supplies (they send enough for a month) everywhere which makes it difficult for him to get around...he yelled, banged his fist against a wall and generally went nuts. In THIS case my inability to speak was a good thing. He came together after a couple of hours and apologized but it still really shook me up. We have no storage room in this tiny house which makes it very tough. Hopefully he won't flip out again for a few months...that's how it usually happens... Spent 4 hours yesterday filling out the online form to begin my application for disability. I have to send 13 copies of medical record releases and still have the actual application to fill out. What a process! I didn't have the mental strength to do it until lately...it is staggering...who can remember what their pay scale was in 1990? scheesh...then you have to list all doctors and I've seen tons of them...heck, I go to 3 different hospitals... An oncologist that teaches at the University of Düsseldorf, Germany and her associate stopped by last night for a few hours to visit with me. They were on their way to a meeting and I'm glad they took the time to stop by. We had a long discussion about cancer and research. What great people with a wealth of knowledge and it was so interesting to talk to them. They are doing research on mouth and throat cancer and using a technique with brush biopsies as a screening tool. They just swab the inside of the mouth to collect cells and no cutting in involved. The cells on the swab are then analyzed for changes to detect cancer. Matahari, I hope all goes well with the disability filing.
