So far it looks good out there. Matahari, the chemo makes me sick and the side effects from this treatment are harsh. I didn't expect it to get this bad and it's the closest I've come in ten years to just wanting to quit. It's that uncomfortable. After tomorrow there are only 4 more treatments, but that's still another month.” 5:01:17 AM 5/13/08 “Hang in there, RichB. The never-ending drainage project up the road is STILL going; the bulldozers and backhoes are moving all the rocks and gravel around for the 6th time since they started. What the heck are they doing, besides screwing up the freshly paved road and leaving mud all over everything? Not to mention the constant noise and air pollution from all the sooty exhaust these things spit out. Yuck. Great, now they're knocking down trees in the protected watershed zone. I have 2 more CY of compost based garden soil coming in this afternoon. Whoopee. That's not going to be fun to move around with only 4 hours of sleep last night. The sleep deprivation seems to be contagious; several of my neighbors have the same sleep issues.” 5:33:04 AM 5/13/08 “RichB-I fired up the cancer thread...my heart goes out to you... I go to the doc this morning for pre-op stuff. Gonna discuss this constant pneumonia crap, also...I coughed almost non-stop for 5 hours last night...it was exhausting... So, it's Tuesday...big whop...LOL...” 6:20:29 AM 5/13/08 “Good Morning hugs.... ,,,the sun finally has appeared, but it is still cold!!!!....45 degrees..... ...Mata & RichB....hang in there....hugs & prayers!!!! ...due to sunshine, my daughter thinks I am going to help her with her garden...wrong!!!!!....it is still too cold for me!!!! Y'all have a GREAT day!!!” 6:39:34 AM 5/13/08 “mornin'...or mid mornin'...LOL... I went fiddleheading last night, got a bag full...most were already open. Lots of small ones too...the area had some clearing done a couple of years ago, and the fiddleheads are just coming back. I'll saute them in olive oil with sliced garlic and pine nuts, maybe some slices of carrot...yum...I like them still crunchy.” 7:36:40 AM 5/13/08 “I am going into the hospital in a few minutes...doc wanted to send me there straight from my clinic visit but I decided to come home first as I had things I had to do first. I am really not doing very well...hopefully, they can get a handle on things in the hospital. I won't be online for awhile...pray for me...” 8:40:36 AM 5/13/08 “Good thoughts on the way. I hope all goes well and they can help you feel better and recover soon.” 9:47:09 AM 5/13/08 “My thoughts are with you mata - good luck!” 10:17:05 AM 5/13/08 “Good Morning hugs!!!... ....a cold & rainy morning :( hugs & kissessss” 6:33:05 AM 5/14/08 “Glad to be in the hospital! It's amazing what a difference oxygen and fluids can make...I'll probably be here for a few days...more into on the otherside...good morning!” 9:56:22 AM 5/14/08 “Hey there Mata...good to hear from you!!!!...keep us informed!!!! ...lots of hugs!!!!!” 1:30:13 PM 5/14/08 “Great news, Mata! Not often I hear of anything positive about hospitals. Leave it to you, lol.” 2:22:09 PM 5/14/08 “Good Morning hugs!!!....woke up this am & the sun is out!!!.....woooo hoooo.... ...good wishes to Mata & RichB!!!!! ...I regret not going to trail daze... :(” 4:58:42 AM 5/15/08 “Good morning, we had some rain last night, but it's drying up and is supposed to be a nice day. I'd like to go for a bike ride tonight. The grass needs to be cut too. Maybe that will have to wait. Thanks for the good wishes Divinity. Matahari, I'm glad to hear you are getting good care and feeling better.” 5:04:11 AM 5/15/08 “Good Morning...where is everyone?????? cold & rainy here....brrrrrrrr....... ..not much going on...I regret not going to Trail Daze...not alot going on here...sigh.... Hugs!!!” 8:56:28 AM 5/16/08 “Good morning, I was up before, but didn't sleep well last night and wasn't feeling good. I slept a little more and just got up a half hour ago. It's raining and is supposed to rain all day. I hope everyone has a good weekend.” 9:09:03 AM 5/16/08 “I just got up and got busy. My little old man who live a few blocks over had his plant sale today. I scored three lilac lupines and three belamcandas for five dollars. And he threw in a handful of shamrock tubers. =) Made my day. And my Brownie co-leader quit but a really cool mom who has way more time jumped in, so all is right. Hopefully next year will be a bit less stressful and way more fun for me. It stinks having to do everything and be the mean leader who makes kids not hang from the coatrack, lav door, and ceiling. Went to check out our friend's new tattoo shop last night. It's amazing. He and a whole passel of our pals have worked their tales off. Now I have to think about what I want to get so he can stay in business. I'm thinking a chickadee in flight. Or maybe perched on a cherry blossom branch or something. I guess rain is in our future for the weekend. Almost got my coffee finished then I'm off to plant my new stuff. Happy Friday everyone!” 10:05:35 AM 5/16/08 “Hey Sass, our receptionist from down stairs met a man from Lavonia and is moving there in June - say hi when she gets there! LOL... My Brownie co leader didn't do anything except be the mean one...drove me crazy... HAPPY FRIDAY!!!” 12:57:00 PM 5/16/08 “Sass is gettin' a tat!” 1:08:43 PM 5/16/08 “Tat #3.” 3:00:58 PM 5/16/08 “Good Morning hugs!!!!... ...cold & rainy here AGAIN..... ...I feel like I have been here forever....lol.... ...hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!” 4:05:48 AM 5/17/08 “Great...can I go back to bed now? I forgot to turn off the alarm this morning...it went off at 5 am. %*&@$@” 4:20:32 AM 5/17/08 “LOL.....sorry Treebait...I sleep in until 6am when I am not working......THAT is part of getting old I guess......” 4:22:01 AM 5/17/08 “I slept in until 8:15. It was lovely. Birch is gone this weekend, playing GI Joe. It's just us girls. We have to go try on bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, make favors for a shower and then we'll hang w/ my folks. It's good to have them back for the summer. It's gorgeous this morning, not looking like rain at all. But they say it's coming. Have a good Saturday everyone.” 6:20:01 AM 5/17/08 “Good Morning hugs....off to visit one of my very best friends for a few days!!!..... ...y'all behave!!! went to Dick's yesterday...they suck!!!! lots of hugs...see ya Tuesday!!!!” 6:46:24 AM 5/18/08 “So, Dick's sucks, eh?” 7:59:59 AM 5/18/08 “Hi everyone, Long time, no Smiley Girl. Life has not allowed computer time unless its work related. And even at that, G's computer is frustratingly slow. Waiting for the economic stimulus check to buy a new computer. 3 more weeks of school, and I can't wait. I have summer tutoring lined up, and am applying for a job to teach summer school. I had an interview for a full time job next year, but they didn't want me back for a second interview. There's gotta be something out there for me, I just don't know where it is. Evie's baptism was today. We finally have all the grandparents home from Florida. She's 8 months old, and is practically ready to walk. She's more adorable than I ever imagined she would be, and has such a sweet personality. I'd post a new pic, but I don't have a good one of her. Perhaps I'll be back more often in the next few weeks. I miss talking to you guys!” 4:46:32 PM 5/18/08 “Argh, this monday morning is really dragging. It's hard to keep my eyes open. Mate tea isn't cutting it. Must...get...red...bull...” 6:15:48 AM 5/19/08 “SG....omg 8 months already???????? Good Morning hugs.....back from the Lima area to Mount Vernon (Ohio...still....) ...I love my daughter, but I am sooo ready to be home.... Hugs to all!!!!” 8:31:37 AM 5/20/08 “Life with no alarm clock is sweet. Got up early today, 8:30. ;-)” 11:30:11 AM 5/20/08 “Yesterday turned out to be a standout kind of monday, with a catastrophic failure of the new pond filtration system I've been fighting with since I got it in late April. I talked to both the manufacturer and the retailer and the retailer is giving me a full refund including the $140.00 shipping fee. All I have to do is finish boxing this remarkable piece of s--t back up and wrap it in shipping taoe. Glad I kept the boxes.” 12:13:14 PM 5/20/08 “Good morning, another day with rain coming. It seems that all we get lately, but it will bring the streams back up for the weekend. That should improve the fishing so I hope I can get out over the weekend and catch some.” 4:54:08 AM 5/21/08 “Good morning!” 5:21:34 AM 5/21/08 “Good Morning hugs.... a chilly day in Ohio..... ...off to visit my aunt... she isn't well...going for a colonoscopy (sp)next week....doesn't sound like fun... Hey Mata!!!....I hope today is a good one for you!!! I wanna go fishing too RichB!!! ..tonight is my Granddaughter's violin recital...wooo hooooo ...& then I am off to ALABAMA tomorrow!!!! ...I can't wait to be at home in MY OWN BED!!!!! ...woooooohoooooo!!!!!” 5:36:29 AM 5/21/08 “Good Morning Mata! I sent something off to you yesterday... Nice crisp weather here. It feels a bit autumnal. I like it. And it will warm up for the weekend. I got affirmation that I did indeed tear both of my rectus femoris' in softball. Nice easy walks is all I'm allowed for two weeks. =( Not so bad. And I got another 90 800 mg Ibuprofins out of the deal. I can't stand those measly 200mg ones. Hurts my stomach to take them. So, off for a 3 mile walk w/ my pokey neighbor in a few minutes. Then I've got enough piles of permission slips and registrations and receipts from Brownies to keep me busy for at least three hours. I hate the record keeping parts. No fun at all. Have a wonderful hump day everyone.” 5:37:33 AM 5/21/08 “Morning. I got the POS filtration all disassembled, somewhat cleaned and repackaged, ready for UPS to return it to the co. that sold it to me. Yahoo! I desperately need to catch up on laundry today. It's not good to root around in the piles of clean stuff, trying to find matching socks and clothes for the 5 year old each morning. HPM can root around for his own stuff. ;P We had horrendous storms between 5 and 6:30 last night. My neighbor had the top of a tulip poplar go through his roof; he took a sick day and is repairing it himself today. Good for him. We lost some sort of hickory tree; it has smaller leaves then the shag bark hickory nearby. The wind and rain were so strong that water blew in under the door frame to the upstairs bedroom porch, ran down the inside of the wall and came out through the light switch plate by the front door. Soon as it dries out a bit more, it's all getting sealed up. That sucked.” 6:11:33 AM 5/21/08 “mornin'! ugh, kids and laundry...I need to catch up on putting away half a ton of it as well...the good thing is that dance is over and the kids are done with karate...no more chasing dance clothes until September! Having a new stove and refrigerator delivered today, can't wait! Course one thing leads to another, and since the fridge I bought is wider than the opening, I get to rip out cupboards - makes room for a dishwasher! :)” 6:23:19 AM 5/21/08 “It never ends, Twigeater. After you get everything in place, you'll want to update the flooring.” 6:35:11 AM 5/21/08 “I've already started ripping up the flooring...it's ceramic tile, what a mess. not only is the fridge too wide, it's too tall... :)” 10:23:13 AM 5/21/08 “Lol!” 10:33:48 AM 5/21/08 “...laundry & dishes...they never end....... ...well..I'm off for N Alabama this am..... ...ya'll have a GREAT & wonderful day!!!!! hugs!!!” 4:30:16 AM 5/22/08 “mornin'... new appliances are great! Lowe's was awesome and very patient with me, LOL... I hooked up the stove cord and plugged it in, it didn’t trip the breaker, so I guess I did it right, LOL…the fridge is up against the other door right now, Ana thinks that’s a good place for it…I put the microwave in where the fridge goes, so until I’m ready (or figure out another way) to hook up the water filter/ice maker, I’m going to leave the cupboards where they are and put the fridge somewhere else.” 5:29:43 AM 5/22/08 “Morning. Dancing dog toes (they wanted up in bed w/ me and apparently were waiting for permission for once?!), woke me up at 6:30 this am. It's okay, gave me time to fix eggs and toast for B instead of cereal. It's going to be a fabulous weekend darlings, all sunny and warmish. We're looking at high seventies in Michigan. No hiking for the us, as everyone else will be out on the trail. We're headed out to see Spamalot Saturday night w/ friends. The remainder of the weekend will be spent pulling weeds, at a parade and eatting and drinking in memory of those who can't join us anymore. Twig, I'm thinking we will be needing a new fridge soon. Ours was a dent and ding store buy, ten years ago. It's got an incontinence problem these days. Was Lowes a good experience? We're all tired of puddles on top of our food. Defrosting numerous times has done no good.” 4:01:13 AM 5/23/08 “Does Birch get up in the middle of the night and pee in the fridge? That's what you want to ask yourself;)” 4:38:00 AM 5/23/08 “Good morning, the weather is looking good for the weekend. I'm counting on getting out to fly fish since I haven't been out in a few weeks. With all the rain we had conditions should be perfect. Sass, a repair man came over to look at the old fridge here and it was doing the same thing. He said what happens in most cases is the fan goes out that blows air from upper and lower part. That allows water to get behind the insulation and duct and it freezes there in the section between the freezer and fridge part causing a sheet of ice so that's what forms all the condensation and moisture. In some cases it can be fixed by replacing the fan and insulation, but if it's old it's not worth it. He said the average lifespan for a fridge was 12 years and it wasn't worth fixing it. Some can't be fixed when that happens because you can't replace the old insulation even if you get a new fan in. He said the newer units have a different design that prevents the ice from getting into the insulation even if the fan fails. last edited: 5/23/08 4:56:49 AM” 4:54:29 AM 5/23/08 “I still think it's Birch.” 5:04:31 AM 5/23/08 “Good Morning from N Alabama......it feels so wonderful here...alot warmer than Ohio!!!! ..took my son & daughter to dinner last eve....wonderful time!!!...& in bed @9 ..asleep @9:10 after a freecell game...( I have a lovely handheld free cell game I take everywhere...it helps me relax!!!) ...off to Lower Alabama today & HOME...my own shower( I know they are better & save money....but I hate those water saver shower heads :(...I can't seem to get the soap out of my hair & spend more time than usual in the shower...where's the savings there???)...& I miss my own bed!!!!!! ...RichB I hope ya get to go fishing!!!....I love to fish!!! ...we got one of those side by side fridges.....we LOVE the water/ice thing...but there isn't as much inside space!!!! ...y'all have a GREAT weekend...I think we are going to just hang out @ the house & test the new pool..I am tired of riding in a car!! ....cookout Sunday...maybe do some fishin!!! OMG...I listened to "The Education of Little Tree" on my drive home yesterday....cried from Nashville to Decatur Al....it was AWESOME...I loved it...” 5:18:40 AM 5/23/08 “mornin'... I thought Lowe's was great. I went online first, so had printouts of what I wanted, but ended up going with something else. Basically, all I did was find a clerk to place my order as I picked it out myself. He asked if they would fit, I said I'd make them fit, he asked if I needed a cord for the stove, and not knowing what he meant, I just said no or if I did I could get it later (I was shopping on my lunch half hour) he asked when I wanted it delivered, I said when can you, he said tomorrow - I said great! I went home, measured, called Lowe's in a panic, tried to switch the order, cancelled it, and then said, oh heck just bring it. The guys came right at 11am (they were supposed to come between 11 and 1pm) took the old stuff away, brought the new stuff in. I just had it dropped off, nothing installed. They told me a few things about the appliances...I was back at work by noon. I've since been hearing ads from Agren that you can get Maytag fridge, stove, dishwasher and over the stove microwave for $1,400 - the same price I paid for the two things I go. I tried going through Sears a while ago, that was a real fiasco. good luck!” 6:37:28 AM 5/23/08 “I also called Lowe's (me and Steve the appliance guy were on a first name basis, LOL) when I looked at the cord, and he told me how to do it. Playing with electricity makes me nervous. :)” 6:43:55 AM 5/23/08 “RichB that is exactly what we're dealing with. Thanks for the info. Twig, sounds good. I'm looking forward to getting a fridge that's taller and thinner. Maybe a bit smaller too. Everything else is under 3 years old.” 8:02:02 AM 5/23/08 Jump to Page << prev
