Morning. Constant rain w/ some snow mixed in here. The kids are going to the metro park today to make maple syrup, rain or shine. I feel bad for the kids who don't have long undies, nice boots and rain coats, etc.

Good morning. We got the walls and ceiling sheetrocked in the den in the past couple of days and most of the sub flooring is down. Took a little trip to the Home Depot in Duluth last night and made some color and style selections for the kitchen and bathroom. It's getting interesting.

Winter continues to slowly retreat, but not without an occasional nasty swipe at those who dare to hope for spring...

Hi...I haven't been around for awhile so I thought I'd better check in now that I'm feeling better.

I only weigh 105 (I'm 5'7") but I've turned the corner. Finally wanted to eat real food Monday. I had the same version of the flu Bill had...high temperature for 7 days during which food was out of the question. The scary bit was being so far from home when it hit. I was in Madison where I had driven hoping to attend Canoecopia, the huge canoe/kayaking expo. I knew I had to get home as my system was no longer strong enough to avoid pneumonia.

I tried to get in touch with Bill Sunday but he was gone all day...I knew johnhens, the Lorax and others would be concerned knowing I had planned to be at Canoecopia...jh got a hold of me down in Madison...it was nice...I didn't feel so isolated...I have made such wonderful friends backpacking...I am truly blessed...

On the 6th day I took advantage of the temperature breaking at night and not returning until late morning to leave at dawn and drive 5 hours to get back home.

Saw my doc, got the meds for pneumonia which took over as the flu left. I've had such bad coughing spells that I pulled a rib...that really hurt! still does...I guess it'll take a few months to get back to normal...didn't want to eat until yesterday...that, in itself, is very scary when you have no reserves and can't swallow effectively...that dead nerve on the right side of my throat has really had a negative impact on my life. I cannot swallow without coughing...and that was BEFORE I had my latest bout of pneumonia.

Still have really nasty stuff coming out of my lungs but I know I've come through the worst...

Good morning,
Matahari, I'm glad you are on the mend and feeling better.
We had 1.5 inches of rain yesterday and last night and it's finally over. I'm still getting insomnia from these drugs and only slept 4.5 hours, but I slept and hour more than last week so maybe I'll get used to them.

THe pollen count is very high around here. It's making all of us cough and sneeze.

Mmmmm, coffee is yummy this morning. I love my breakfast blend.

We only got about half an inch of rain yesterday; I was disappointed. However, lots of things are greening up and blooming around here. The curly willow is a wonderful shade of bright green.

Hello and good morning! It makes SUCH a difference to wake up to a sunny morning...

I have decided to approach this whole eating problem of mine head on...for the last few months I have only been eating things that are easy for me to swallow...this has led to a really, REALLY boring diet...it's been safer because I haven't risked pneumonia that way but I also wasn't able to gain any weight...well, that has to end...I MUST gain weight...105 just does not cut it...so, yesterday, when I went to the grocery store I bought all this stuff I have not been eating because it's so hard to swallow and decided that even if I only eat a few mouthful, well, that's better than nothing.

And, what were the things I wanted to eat? Rib-eye steak...bought one, cut it up into 6 portions, cooked and ate one portion...so good, so missed...then I bought bacon and sausages for breakfast. I may only be able to eat 2 but 2 is better than nothing. Then, if I lightly toast an English Muffin and drench it in butter I can stick different things on top, like jam or bacon, to add to the flavor. Again, I only managed a half but hey, it's more fattening than soup. I continue with the Scandie Shakes...a weird and kinda sad thing, I haven't been into coffee much...I do make a really weak drip, mostly milk coffee in the morning but I haven't had any urge to turn on the espresso machine...I hope that changes...

So guys, keep your fingers crossed for me...my goal is to weigh 120 pounds again...only 15 to go

I hope that plan works out for you. It sounds good. One thing I did even when I had the feeding tube was to put olive oil in almost everything. At 100 calories per tablespoon that adds up fast.

Mornin y'all. Allergies have turned into a really sore throat. On a much happier note, another of my friends and his wife are pregnant. That makes all three of us (couples) pregnant at the same time. It's weird 'cause I've kinda grown up n Nashville with these guys and we've gone through a lot together. It's a really cool feeling.

That was fun, Divinity!

Ah, I'm sp glad its friday and the weather should be decent, too. Maybe we can finish all the loose ends on the pond from heck. My fishies need space!

Actually, I still have my new fish in our bathtub. I caught my little guy (a baby koi from Laurel's aquarium; he's a test fish for diseases and parasites) and just opened the drain to do a water change. That's one of the easier water changes I've ever done for fish. The little guy was so small that if I'd left him in he wouldn't just gone down the drain. The new koi that I bought is too big for that.

There's so much to do around here right now, I don't know where to begin and how I'll get it all done. Bleah.

mornin'!

I put the little lizard I've been feeding back in with Romeo in the big tank...see how she does there...

Romeo on the other hand, seems to be having a growth spurt - what a fatty! I did give her a wax worm or two...or three...LOL...but we also have been seeing more of her coming out from under her rock to eat crickets...
I'm holding off to once a week with the wax worms, as I read that some lizards will quit eating everything else in favor of them. Like cake or candy to is to us.

Oh dear, I am SO SORRY treebait...I was just thinking coldbloodedly...of course your beautiful Koi are not reptiles...they are amazing fish...I've spent hours on Koi websites looking at their beautiful colors...

I like lizards...I had an Iguana once...dumb as dirt...used to find him frozen to the screen in winter when he'd crawl under the open window to get in the cold sun...

Well, having shared that lovely picture with you all I can do no more than hope you have a Happy Easter if you're into that sort of thing...at least it's a special meal for many...
