Good morning all.

Checking the snow line, but I can't go because I am on call. Sounds like a great day on the trails. Maybe Christmas Eve. 1-3 inches of snow predicted, starting soon. A White Christmas now seems certain.

I hate it when Bill comes home after doing shots...he doesn't come home until he closes the bar so I usually wake him when I get up to make myself some breakfast...I hate those mornings...it's impossible to deal with that level of alcoholic...he's belligerent, full of self-pity, quick to jump at the wrong conclusions to everything and makes me want to move out.

There, so much for that...now, we move on....

It is so beautiful outside...this time yesterday it sleeted, then a wet, heavy snow fell...every tree and branch is coated and it is amazing...makes you feel great just to be alive to see it...

Weather is supposed to really get hazardous as the day progresses...3-6 inches of snow with 20mph winds and occasional gusts of 30-40mph...luckily, I have no reason to go out except to hike around in my new winter boots...oh yes, my "hiking" Christmas present to myself was a pair of Keen Snoqualmie boots...they only come in men's but I wanted oversized boots so I could wear nice, thick wool socks..

They felt really comfortable yesterday when I wore them to go get the mail...

So, are you ready for some Christmas!

I am...we've had a great response to the "ornament for Dani in rememberance of Bearmagnet" suggestion...every letter, ever contribution sets a warm glow in my heart so it radiates love....this is why Bill is still alive....he doesn't know he owes his life to you guys....

Have a great day!

MH, I was looking at those Keen's the other day for hiking boots, but I think they would be hot for bp'n in....I usually wear my lowtop Keen Targhee's or my Merrell 'Chameleon' hikers...though I've been wanting to get some hi tops.........

Yes, Chappy...I think they would be too hot unless you backpack where the temps are well below freezing, as they are here...20's are a heat-wave, teens are the norm, below zero always a distinct possibility...I would not want Thinsulate, Primaloft or any other insulation in boots with temps above 20F.

Good morning, It's getting nasty outside with high winds already and heavy rain on the way. I went for a nice hike yesterday and I'll squeeze in a short one before the rain gets here this afternoon.

Morning. We had high winds all night, thought the house was going to blow over as the gusts were non stop in the 40-50 mph range for a while. One of my patio chairs had moved all the way accross the yard (its a heavy chair, not one of those plastic thingys. Power was out for a long while and it got cold...brrrr. had to get up and throw extra blankets and critters on the bed to keep us warm last night.

Morning all. Prayers for mata!

We only got an inch out of the storm, but the ski conditions are perfect in the mountains. After Christmas, I should have some time to get up there. I still hope for a dump of snow in the valley so that I can ski at home! Bing's version of "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" just came on the radio, a recording of yesterday's Mark Simeone show.

Coffee is hot and strong. Peet's House Blend. Christmas service is today. Time always flies from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

Random thought ---
Spiders and snakes don't put out much heat.

Maybe that is why all the spiders are inside right now. I hope the snakes are underground and not in my garage. I do have a mouse or two.

Supposed to snow another inch or two starting this afternoon. :D

It's been snowing all morning and there's about 5 inches on the ground. Todays chores will likely be bringing in wood (done), cutting the Christmas tree (next), shoveling the walk and plowing (both contingent on the snow stopping). It's 74 in the house with the wood stove cranking out the btu's. My mother is happy with the heat and the cat is very unhappy with her "heat" (caterwauling, etc). The poor critter kept us both up during the night with her racket. I think the cat is hoping to get lucky for Christmas. Not a chance.

Snakes Are Our Friends.     < G >

Maybe that's the origin of the word 'caterwauling'?   I just had an idea for that, but this is a Family Message Board.

Progress report
Walks are shoveled and deiced. Plowing awaits the cessation of snow, possibly as late as early May:) The tree cutting was easier than expected. My mother didn't want to participate, kids aren't here yet and the cat is entirely too preoccupied with her horniness to contemplate Christmas. Rather than make a production of hitching the trailer to the tractor and driving across to the far end of the field, I merely walked to the edge of the woods and murdered a nice little spruce. Presently it lies in quiet repost in the mudroom, slowly divesting itself of it's covering of fresh snow, completely oblivious of the high honor in being the 2007 Nimblefoot family Christmas Tree. I have the sinking feeling it would have preferred to remain in its stationary position, silent witness to all that passes by. I hope there isn't a chapter of PETCT (People for the Ethical Treatment of Christmas Trees) nearby:(

If you have a cat in heat make sure your tree has tie-outs or you'll find it on the ground...unless it's rooted in cement...just a suggestion...:)

No doubt that's more humane.   Our preferred method of miniature spruce murder in this neighborhood is to keep them in a large pot by the front door then have them slowly roast to death in the Summer heat.

It's happy at the moment, but little does it know.....

Hope you have a comfortable Christmas Eve Day...

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Our celebrations are over, just as Christmas arrives. We saw G's immediate and extended family on Saturday, drove up to my parents house late that night to avoide the storm on Sunday. We returned tonight, Evie is sick and exhausted from 8 million people handling her. Its just us tomorrow, thank goodness.

I hope you are all with your families and friends, and have a wonderful Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone. HPM finally finished putting together Laurel's big present- a huge wooden barn for her Breyer horses, and I finally finished wrapping all the stuff I didn't have a chance to get to earlier in the month. ;P

Oh, wait, I have to go bed now?

Oh, heck, never mind.

PS: the in-laws will be back around 10am to open gifts, then leave again after that. If HPM invites them to hang around then I may hang him.

Merry Christmas everyone.
