Morning. Very little sleep here last night, but suprisingly I'm doing quite fine so far. Looking forward to a nap soon, though!

Another wonderful day - Evie and I will have to go for a walk later!

How are the rest of you?

Since I haven't been around much lately, how's school going for Ab and Laurel?

Laurel's been in trouble for talking too much and totally ignoring anything the music teacher tells her to do 3 times now. The bribe this week, to get her to behave, is that is she gets green checks (aka behaves) every day, she can go play with my neighbors' dogs.

In other words, shes a kindergardener.
She loves school but I figure it will take a month or two for her to settle into the new rules.

We have really struggled with reward versus punishment schemes. Emma poked a kid with a pencil. She got in major trouble when she got home. When my wife first started in on her it was because Emma did the same thing 2 weeks ago. Emma's reply was, "Well, it wasn't the same kid!" Somehow that makes it ok? DOn't think so.

She's doing really good in kindergarten. There's some language test she took. It's one of those landmark/baseline deals. The goal was 8 now and then maybe 12 by Spring. She scored a 50.

Abby hates the lunchroom. She hates getting up early in the morning, she doesn't like being away all day. She claims she's just too busy and she doesn't get to spend enough time with us and with her friends playing. =) She'll get used to it.

All through kindergarten, Austin whined about how he never wanted to change schools anyway! He liked his preschool. I would have too, he got a 2 hour nap every afternoon.

He loves school this year.

Laurel actually got mildly in trouble, but not enough to earn her a bad mark, yesterday. She really, REALLY wanted to take a nap yesterday afternoon; she told off one of her table mates for being too noisy while she tried to fall asleep. I don't know what she said, but it made the teacher laugh. Laurel was a little cranky about it though.

We had 24 hours of pretty solid rain. I don't know how much, but it was the best rain of the year.

I gave up on my wood stove installer, so I'll do it myself and take him to small claims court. Currently doing some research; there's a lot more to this than I figured, particularly with a metal steep pitched roof. First priority: safety (my butt don't bounce anymore).

Peace.

Good morning, another beautiful day on the way, but it's too dry and we need rain. I went for a nice bike ride last evening, lots of climbing too so it wasn't an easy ride. This cooler weather and low humidity makes riding easier. I'll go for another ride this evening, but maybe one with a less climbing and more spinning this time.

I think I'm going to get on my bike today too. I have an appointment at 9:30 so I'll be riding by 10:45. Maybe a nice ride to REI (about 14 mile roundtrip). I don't need anything but one never knows what one might find on the clearance rack...
Wish me luck, I can't find my peddles and I haven't used my clipless ones for almost a year. I'm guaranteed to fall over at at least one red light or stop sign.

Hey Nowslimmer, good luck collecting the money with small claims court. I never had any luck. Unless this guy has a steady job that you can find out about to have his wages garnished, or he's really into the idea of refunding your money (which he obviously isn't), you'll have no luck. The court (AT LEAST IN MI) doesn't collect the money for you unless you go through about ten steps, all of which cost extra money, then they garnish his wages. It's a crappy system that relys on folks doing what's right.

I gave up the child this morning. Neighbor has her. I don't want to be near her at this moment. Suffice it to say it was a bad night.

Going to see the lactation consultant this afternoon. (Wondering what kind of jokes will be made out of this!) This child is working to kill me before she becomes a teenager.

Again, at least the sun is shining. There's hope for me yet.

Those consultants were very extremely helpful to my wife with our first. There is way more to nursing than people think.

PS, it's normal to want to be away. Don't feel guilty about it. You're a mommy, but you're still an individual.

Sorry to hear about your bad night Smiley. I remember those days well. Just remember that these difficult days won't last forever. If nursing ends up not working out for you, then give it up. Nursing is not for everyone. And don't let anyone try to make you feel quilty about it either. There will be plenty of people who will want to change your mind if you decide to stop nursing. But you need to make the best decision for you and your family, whatever that may be.

Tomorrow will be better. :)

Checking in a little late for me. My internet access was goofy this morning, but seems to have fixed itself while I was out cutting wood. In the past two days I've got a full cord of the prettiest oak (for splitting) imagineable. The trees are pretty straight and few branches until near the top. Very little brush and flat ground; nothing troublesome to deal with. Just drive in, cut 'em down, cut to size, load 'em up and go home. It's sort of like picking blueberries. Cutting wood should always be this easy. My two old friends are a little whipped, so no cutting tomorrow. Maybe I can start putting the garden to bed.

Peace.
