Sassy, you work too hard! I got tired just reading what you've got on the schedule today...hope you feel better!” 12:10:35 PM 6/11/07 “Some koi don't settle into a permanent color pattern until they're 5 years old. It depends on which bloodline they come from, environmental factors, the stability of the breed, etc. There are some types of koi who can change pattern on a daily basis. Not what I'd consider a good lineage, but it could be neat.” 12:18:55 PM 6/11/07 “good morning everyone! Smiley Girl, you look beautiful!” 12:45:32 PM 6/11/07 “Sassafras - "Busy day and I am sick as can be." Tain't right to go out and spread your illness to 20 poor, little kids. Seem to me it was time to call in sick!” 1:31:51 PM 6/11/07 “one of those kids gave it to her first” 1:51:48 PM 6/11/07 “ “one of those kids gave it to her first”Do you really think that makes it right? Reminds me of all the cashiers that used to work in the Supermarket when sick. Most of them were working part time and received no sick time. Since they needed the money, they just spread their germs to everyone with whom they came in contact. There were several times that I refused to bag near one of them in their sick condition.” 2:05:47 PM 6/11/07 “Nowslimmer, If I hadn't gone the field trip would have been off. And I did get it from my daughter who got it from one of her classmates. I appreciate the sentiment but I don't think the kids would have understood that there's no bowling and pizza "end of the year party" because Mrs. Harvey doesn't feel good today. Especially when they all go to school with the same crud and share with their classmates.” 2:36:55 PM 6/11/07 “Most of the moms at the kidlets school don't worry about it - they're/we're all going to get it anyway. I feel the same way about work - by the time you've got symptoms, it's already been spread....” 2:41:18 PM 6/11/07 “I think so too. I did, however, reschedule my two clients for today. And I'm not working tomorrow either. And now, I'm going to take a nap. =) Good night!” 2:43:48 PM 6/11/07 “my boss would crap a brick if i tried to take off time for a simple cold, it just ain't done nowslimmer, we are given 3 sick days a year and they had better be dang good reasons. i'll never forget my boss getting ticked when i called him from the emergency room and telling him they were admitting me to the hospital. to spare customers/co-workers as much as possible, i take cold/cough medicine/ use lysol spray on my register/counter/phone, and use hand sanitizor whenever i blow my nose, cough. sneeze or touch my face. the world doesn't stop because any of us have a cold, it never did and it never will.” 2:45:32 PM 6/11/07 “The way I see it you’re just helping build up the kids’ immunities. They’ll be survivors when the super flu hits.” 2:46:35 PM 6/11/07 “too true lumberzac” 2:57:20 PM 6/11/07 “Sassafras - "Busy day and I am sick as can be." This did not sound like a simple every day cold! It sounded like you would be better resting. Before posting I did think about the kids and their anticipations. I weighed the expectation of their getting sick against the fun that they could enjoy. I am acutely aware of things that can happen medically, as my uncle caught St. Louis Encephalitas in the original outbreak. My brother and I grew up when polio was a real threat. My brother did catch and die from multiple sclerosis. It does not matter from where you caught the bug. You mentioned that there is a lot of it going around, so it could have come from almost anywhere. What matters is what you can do to prevent it from going further. But there were others envolved. If you had pulled out, they likely would have gone to work on locating a substitute for you. If not, they aren't worth much! And I don't agree with another statement. Kids can understand a lot of things these days. I'm glad to hear that you changed the remainder of your activities to get some rest. I do hope you feel much better soon. ” 6:33:39 PM 6/11/07 “Thunder, lightning, dark cluds and rain are moving into my area. Looks like a fun evening. "Tonight: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 11pm." Today the "computer module" gets put in my old truck. Hopefully I will then be able to drive more than 20 miles without having to let it cool off. I can now drive it up to 70 mph without it shaking apart, the next step is to improve the distance. Oh, somewhere on the list also has to be a heater and motor for the wipers. Where the hell is my social security check? Last month it arrived on the 9th, this month nada, zilch, zero. Looks like I'll be making some calls today and spending mucho time on hold. Bad news: tenants departed the rental and didn't clean up. Good news: I've got their deposit:)” 6:00:05 AM 6/12/07 “Good morning, all. It looks so beautiful outside. Nice day for a drive. Today we get to go down to Ann Arbor again, for an "exit meeting" with my hematologist. I feel like I should buy them doughnuts or something; they got me into remission...” 6:13:56 AM 6/12/07 “ "Open the tailgate, Truck." "I'm sorry Nimblefoot, I'm afraid I can't do that." ” 6:30:39 AM 6/12/07 “Good morning, another beautiful day on the way here. Lesubtil, that's good news that you got a remission and I hope everything goes well for you. I gave my hematologist and other doctors bottles of wine over the years. I had surgery on my mouth and tongue yesterday, so I have a fat lip this morning. So far the real pain didn't start yet, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad.” 7:14:42 AM 6/12/07 Hugs. “Good morning. The heavy rain spared our area last night. When I posted it had flooded a major road with 3-4 inches of water. But that was abour 3 miles from this area. We only received some showers.” 7:24:54 AM 6/12/07 “98° yesterday with another hot one on the way today. If this is spring then I dread summer. We're still about 16"-18" behind on rain for the year.” 7:40:09 AM 6/12/07 “There's supposed to be another round of heavy thunderstorms with lower than average temperatures today. I'll take it. As HPM was leaving this morning, I stepped on a large katydid on the front porch. It cracked loudly like a firecracker. I can't say why, but that had me laughing for a while. Ah, sniffleization. One big, happy petri dish.” 7:46:25 AM 6/12/07 “good morning everyone! i couldn't sleep so i got up early. going into work at 7am today.” 7:46:28 AM 6/12/07 “LeSubtil, you just made my day. =) Enjoy your drive. Today is kindergarten graduation. Someone is very excited to wear her new pink dress (and it's not me). I can't believe the stuff she's learned this year. The child is reading books to me!! We never learned anything like they do now, until first grade. She had a wonderful, wonderful teacher this year. I am very grateful. Have a good day all!” 7:51:39 AM 6/12/07 “Sassafras - Hope you're feeling much better today. Hmm. I never graduated from kindergarten. I was kicked out! I wanted to play too much. Hope your daughter has a great day. LeSubtil - That ws good news. Thanks and good luck in the future. last edited: 6/12/07 8:15:25 AM” 8:12:18 AM 6/12/07 GOOD MORNING ALL “Well, still moving in and meeting a bunch of folks.......this will take a while. Today I'll tear out a closet and put in shelves.......what fun. Then add a double stacked dowel rod for my wife's clothes.” 8:13:35 AM 6/12/07 “I missed the remission comment from leSubtil. Congrats!” 8:36:54 AM 6/12/07 “Congrats, LS! I've been thinking a lot about you. Those docs at UofM are the best (even though I despise the UofM!). Already had my walk, so I'm in for the day. Windows are shut, hopefully it'll stay cool in here for a while. I started swelling last week, so I'm trying to keep as cool as possible. Staying off my feet is a whole other issue. Sass, congrats to the little one on graduation day. How exciting! Take lots of pictures - I don't remember my graduation, but I do have some pictures of it. :) Have a good day, everyone.” 9:23:28 AM 6/12/07 “Another day in paradise here. Lots of deadlines this week but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't think it's a train. Reece is going to science camp at the McWane Center. McWane is a local hands on museum type of place focused on science. He came home with some balloons inside a dixie cup. It was a working model of our lungs he informed me. When he would push the bottom of the cups the balloons would flutter. Maybe his hands were shaking. I replied with wonder and awe.” 4:57:22 AM 6/13/07 “95 yesterday...same predicted today...I am tired already and I just got up...” 5:01:24 AM 6/13/07 “PS. Emma's good friend Rile came over to play yesterday. Emma's closets have recently been cleaned out and lots of things are in the process of being taken to storage. My wife's wedding dress was out because of this process. Emma and Riley come downstairs with Emma in the dress and veil and Riley was in Reece's Mickey Mouse costume from about 2 years ago. Luckily a camera was handy. Once my wife finally quite crying from laughing she was able to take a few photos. 5:09:21 AM 6/13/07 “Now thats cute!” 5:31:03 AM 6/13/07 “Pretty nice, DH. That's a picture for a lifetime. 95 eh? That's why I couldn't get myself moving. Floated the river a couple of days ago and did another repair on the truck yesterday...it now has both speed and distance. Soon on the list are wiper blades and a heater. So much ado about nothing; it seems simpler and more economical to just take the tractor to town. I have to clean the duplex today for the departing tenants. Not my favorite chore, but they WILL pay me. Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues, I'm working at the canoe place. I'm not exactly behaving like a retiree.” 5:32:09 AM 6/13/07 “Morning hugs... ...5 minutes until I leave for work.... ..2 cups of yummy coffee... ...Dayhiker....cute pic!! ...le Subtil....wooo hooo!!!... ...broken record yesterday.....100 degrees... ...only 96 today.... ...off to work....ya'll have a GREAT day!!!!!!” 5:47:44 AM 6/13/07 “I like the look on her face. It looks like they're not even down the aisle and she's already giving him the business. Sounds like a real marriage to me!” 5:49:41 AM 6/13/07 “good morning all. I have butterflies in my belly :( I have thye second job interview today and for some reason this one is hitting me hard. I did not sleep well so now I have puffy eyes LOL I put my tent out in the yard and gave her a good bath and I was ready to bring it in after the weekend and then BAM, it started to rain. so now I have to wait for it to dry again. I swear it does that all the time. I need a handsome gardner to weed my garden. any volunteers?” 5:51:02 AM 6/13/07 “Talk about innuendo! This is a family thread....pottymouth. Maybe I should wash my tent to make it rain here. The annual street party was 2 weeks ago and we got about 1" of rain. I heard lots of folks say we should make it a weekly event. It's rained the last 3 events in a row.” 6:07:44 AM 6/13/07 “Could be a country song in there: "...got to weed my garden before it goes to seed, got to weed my garden, cause that's what I need"...etc” 6:12:24 AM 6/13/07 “Where's Tilt to quote John Prine when you need him?” 6:13:51 AM 6/13/07 “Maybe everyone posting could add a verse...could be a hit? Thinking of something with ho' or hoe.” 6:19:43 AM 6/13/07 Hugs. “Good morning. "I need a handsome gardner to weed my garden. any volunteers?”Didn't I volunteer to help cut down that batch of trees on the Island?” 6:49:02 AM 6/13/07 “Good morning, we had a little rain last night, but could have used a lot more. It's foggy outside now from the rain. I just found a snake skin out in the driveway that must have been shed last night. I hope that snake stays around and keeps the chipmunks and other critters out of my garden.” 7:02:54 AM 6/13/07 “Maybe I'll get away this morning. I's time to go look for some road kill!” 7:03:57 AM 6/13/07 “Morning all. I gave up sleeping at 5:45 this morning; one of the cats ate a bug that triggered a half hour of foamy little vomits all over the place. That was fun to clean. I got the last kitchen/ eating area wall painted, dishes done, some cleaning up, etc., done this morning too. Yippee for me. THe constant stream of dump trucks is only 65 feet away, unloading pile after pile of dirt to raise the level of an available lot. They got started at 7 am. My neighbor whose house is between me and all the noise has guests visiting; what a way for them to wake up.” 7:36:18 AM 6/13/07 “Morning. Safe travels Nowslimmer.” 7:37:42 AM 6/13/07 “I'm sure they're doing an excellent job of compacting that fill. 2 years from now when your new neighbors house is settling and they don't understand why their sheetrock is cracking you can tell them.” 7:50:31 AM 6/13/07 “Our house is rumbling from the compactor going back and forth all day too. What did they fill that roller with, lead shot?” 7:51:24 AM 6/13/07 “Ahh, well they are compacting it. Wonderful. That's somewhat rare in residential work.” 7:55:36 AM 6/13/07 “Sounds like eveyrone has been so productive this morning! I've barely finished my first cup of Joe! Hugs to all!” 7:58:21 AM 6/13/07 “Sassafras - Hope you're feeling better today.” 8:03:20 AM 6/13/07 “ got to weed my garden, cause that's what I need Hmm. Could be a missing verse from "Illegal Smile". How about.... a tune about gardening in the general style of John Prine, from the POV of "Chauncy" (Peter Sellers' character in "Being There")? That's just the sort of weirdness Prine fans have come to know and love. ” 8:26:34 AM 6/13/07 Jump to Page << prev
