Good morning all........well, I'm sitting here surrounded by boxes. Moving day is Thursday. Feels real strange. Seven years ago I was getting ready to move in. Yesterday was my last Sunday here. Everyone was in church including my family from Austin. Lots of tears. This morning I'm no longer pastor of this church and pastor of another church two hours up the road. How do I disconnect? Not easy. My wife left work last Thursday and is now unemployed. Lots of soul-searching going on here. Perhaps it will be better with all the work ahead of us for the move.....
Rocketman, from previous trip pics I've posted, is finishing up a bp'n trip in Yosemite this week. He called home to report he ran into three bears so far. The closest was about 30 yeards away. Can't wait for pics....

Nimblefoot, I'm glad you snagged a renter. Great news.

Chappy, I dislike moving very much. Bless you for signing up for a job that not only requires you to take care of a whole congregation but also requires you to drop everything and leave them for a new bunch. That cannot be easy. I hope your new church family is wonderful and they take some of the sting away from leaving the old.

Nothing going on here until this evening. I went and fetched a new girl bunny last night (we're calling her Sunshine Bunny). So, we'll see if she's interested in making friends yet. Otherwise, a mellow day of laundry and putzing around the house. I have many weeds to yank if I'm motivated.

Have a good Monday!

Good luck with the hasenpfeffer, Sass.

I have to catch all the goldfish fry and move them today, so I can clean out their bin for the first time and treat them for ick, which is a fungal disease. Poor little things have white blobs on their fins.

I'm spending the afternoon getting the downstairs prepped for an influx of new furniture. HPM's getting the couch he wanted, the table and chairs he wanted.... ;P

GET UP!

Oh, no, its okay, hit the snooze button a few times. Its cold and rainy.

G closed every stinkin' window in this house last night, and I'm boiling hot and wide awake. Meanwhile, G is snoring in bed, thus my move to the couch. Hope I can fall back asleep for a few more hours.

Who knows if I'll be working later today. DIdn't expect to work yesterday, but got two phone calls. We'll see what happens today.

Subbing seems to be quite the adventure. My daughter's last day is tomorrow. It looks like a full year art teaching job may be open in one of the schools where she fills in. If they count all her years of subbing as practical experience, she maybe able to cut her certification short and land the job. It would be nice if tree and save me at least $1600.

Well, I contacted a Senator and my Congressman. Sen Richard Shelby's office called me 2x about this. The aide said they get 20 requests per day and they have 6 offices. That's 600/week. I did not get my passport. I figure if one of the top 15 or so most powerful Senators office can't get this thing pushed through it wasn't going to happen. I bought the trip on a sale and the dates aren't supposed to be transferable. The travel agent is trying to move the dates to early August for me. We'll see what happens.

For some reason I keep wanting to call the passport office and be a prick. I'm not going to and it disappoints me that I feel that way. Is making that person to feel small going to make me feel big? Ha, I told that so and so. I do think there are some major issues in the passport office. They're are having a pretty big financial impact on people. Heck, if they'd told me 2 weeks ago that it wasn't going to happen then at least I could plan another trip. As it is, I think we're going to get 2 day passes to the local water/amusement park over on the west side of B'ham and just goof off with the kids this weekend. We've been working too hard with work and getting the house ready to where the kids have sort of had electronic babysitters the last 2-3 weekends. I actually have a good bit of guilt about that so this weekend is going to be for them.

Yall have a good day.

Morning. It got cool up here. High of 65° today and low of 48°. That's my kinda weather!!

Nothing doing today except helping the kindergartners in the lunchroom. It'll be their first time eating lunch at school, in preparation for next year.
I also have rocks to move. My neighbor dug up about a yard of yellowish stone and I've found a use for it. Have to walk around the block, load it up and pull it back home in the wagon. It'll go under our fire pit.

Dayhiker, I'm really sorry you have to miss your trip. It's a huge bummer when you've looked forward to something for so long and someone else's issue takes that away from you. I hope the airlines surprise you with fantastic service and minimal or no fees.

Dayhiker.......the passport office must have changed a lot since '95. I went in and took my photo in prep for a trip to Syria, Jordon, Israel then........got the passport in about two weeks or so from what I remember......I didn't think they could really screw stuff up like they do now......
Sorry to hear of your troubles, think I'll ask God to handle your situation for ya.......later...........

Chappy I think part of the problem is the mandatory passport for crossing into Canada now. It's pushed many folks to get one who wouldn't need one otherwise (like me). The passport office is flooded.

Starting Jan 23 all Caribbean travel started requiring them. The office has been bombarded with applications. While they were almost 3 weeks from there 10 week promise delivery on mine, there is plenty of blame looking in the mirror. I booked the trip in November and waited until March 16 to file the application. Our office motto rears it's ugly head yet again. If you're gonna be stupid, you'd better be tough.

Sass - yes, you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt, only I don't have any doc visits to deal with. How is your ankle, btw?

A few people have suggested I fake a sickness with one of the kids so I can have the travel insurance kick in. Committing ins fraud, especially when I should have made applicaiton 2 months prior is just not right.

I am so excited. What a wonderful way to start the day. I received a phone call that my sister-in-law had delivered a healthy baby girl. Jillian Beth was born at 1am this morning weighing in at 8lbs and ?ozs (my dad didn't know the ozs) and 19inches long!

This is their 4th little girl!!!

Good morning, it cooled off here too which was nice. The weeekend was too hot and humid. I cut the grass last night and ran out of daylight. I wanted to finish so I just turned on some spotlights and finished the last section in the dark. I'll bet the birds weren't happy about it. I guess cutting grass kicks up a lot of bugs so they are always there to eat after I finish cutting it, but it was too dark for them to be out.

PTL!! I was able to rebook. My original room was bought at a sale and I had a suite booked because the sale allowed you to book all room classes at the same rate. To stay in that room would've been another $928. The stay in the same room class as 2 years ago would've been another $370, so I opted for the $370. Air Jamaica was only a $75 penalty per ticket. I'll wind up paying $520 + air ticket price difference, if any for the rebooked trip. Surely the passport people can get me the document in what would amount to 20 weeks from application date.

Proof of a rumor? It's not really a rumor if there's proof, is it? No, just me trying to make a joke (the guy who started the get up thread forgot to...get up).

I messed one up yesterday too, when DH posted, "Chappy - I don't follow". I "followed" with "well then, either lead or get the hell out of the way" from the old military axiom, "either lead, follow or get the hell out of the way". Unfortunately too many people posted between DH and I so no one got it or it just wasn't as funny to the purely civilian mind. Guess I'm on a non-roll:)

Nimblefoot - Thanks for explaining.

I had seen the other one and it was fine. You earned my comment because this type of statement was something that has been used when someone dies in their sleep. So I felt some sensitivity to it.

I did not answer oldog, although I believe Baume66 said something about being away for a while, a name change or something. Since I could not remember exactly what it was, or if it was him, I said nothing.

When Baume66 heard of my troubles in Minnesota a few years ago, when my tent was cut and some things were taken, he offered me a tent. I thought that was pretty nice from someone that I just met on a hike.
