I left out, we spent about 3k for 12 people to spend 2 nights out and ate really great meals and did rafting. We have 6 employees and all spouses went. That amount of money seems like a bargain. We'll get that back 5 fold from the goodwill and teambuilding we got out of the trip. I am so glad we did this. From reading the threads on jobs lately it seems that more companies should do this. I believe it's going to become a yearly event for us.

PSS.

My partner in our other office is overworked. She started working with us so that she could work part time. She now works about 50 hrs a week. She'll work 8:30 til 2:30 and then work til Lord knows when after the kids go to bed. She's going to burn out and leave the firm if we don't do something. On the drive back from the retreat we talked about opening an actual office in her town instead of her working out of her basement. We know who we'd approach about adding as the 2nd engineer. He interviewed with me 2 years ago but wanted to be in her town (his hometown) instead of where I live (90 miles away). So Thur, this partner is volunteering at a Habitat House. It must've been a Jr League type of thing because all of the workers were female. She ran into an interior designer she knew but didn't know the ladies last name. Turns out, it's the spouse of the person we'd try to hire if we expanded. The wife proceeds to discreetly ask what our status is with the sr guy retiring, would we ever expand the office in their town, and how much her husband would have liked for it to work out for him to work with us. Some things just aren't coincedences. It would appear that now is the time to look at expanding the 2nd office. I'm scared and excited all at the same time.

Good morning, it looks like another nice day out and the weekend weather is looking great too. I'm hoping the fly fishing will be better this weekend and that the water warmed up. Last weekend, the water temperature was 49 and that's a bit cold for good fishing, at least around here.

Good morning.

Starting to be another beautiful weekend here in Melbourne, FL. If I had a remote, laptop, I could post this from the veranda instead of inside the Resource Café.

Enjoy a great weekend.

Oh, I'll probably go, but it would be much more fun if he goes because we could both harass my other buddy who can't go because his inlaws are come to town this weekend.

All of my outlaws are coming to visit us tonight too. I think it's more like come here, socialize a bit, kidnap my daughter then head back down to Columbia to go to the zoo there all day. I think my brother in law is coming this time too. It will be the first time I've seen him since late January, when he goaded me one too many times. He's too smart to be an Oblivion.

Morning. We've been up and to the garage sales in town already. No treasures today, they've already been sold. I've got to start getting to the sales on Thursdays to get the treasures.

House cleaning, errand running, and apparently we're having folks here for BBQ dinner (just burgers) and then possibly some golf later. G made the plans with everyone and then came home and told me about it. LOL!

Have a great day!

Kinda cool here this morning. Rained some during the night, but I suspect not that much. It's a good day to stay inside and catch up on the cleaning. With a little discipline I may even sit down and try to come up with a new budget.

Yesterday I bought an old rototiller and started out on the garden spot. It's been plowed with the tractor, but this was the first tilling. Pretty rugged, rocks, sand and clay, bouncing and jouncing about all over the place. I suspect about 4-5 tillings will be necessary before the soil is easily workable. A neighbor gave me some llama poop, but a lot more will be needed. Perhaps I should just rent some llamas and stake them out. It's supposed to be great fertilizer, not particularly strong in nitrogen and makes a great manure tea.

Good morning, I'm going hiking with Msilver this afternoon in the local woodlands. It's beautiful outside for hiking today. I fly fished my favorite stream yesterday and it wasn't fishing well at all. The water was still too cold, no hatches were happening and the fish just weren't feeding. I only caught 2 fish all day was lucky to catch that many the way the day was going. I'll try it again next weekend.

There were some locals fishing in "my" trout stream yesterday. Couldn't be bothered to knock on the door and ask permission. It was rather strange with them actually being right in my yard. I introduced myself, found out who they were and told them they had my blessing, considering that they all have property and hunting season will get here eventually.

Diggin' worms in the lower garden this morning. Time for a little fishing of my own.

Thanks, Mataharihiker. Life can be wonderful, when one is trying to please others.

Your breakfast sounds good, I think! I don't know most of those ingredients. I went to McD's for the second day in a row and the second time this year. I ordered the same meal as yesterday, but received a completely different meal. The coffee is tasting better. It appears like they quit the special blends and returned to regular coffee.

It is disheartening visiting there. It is near to the "Daily Bread" site and many of the homeless now visit McD's. They appear to limit their visits to about 20 minutes, but they are quickly replaced by others. The management must have found a way to make them "toe the line." When I worked at the supermarket across the street, they spent all day there making messes, etc. But finally the free coffee was stopped. Most of the people need help, but, unfortunately, some abuse the help that they receive.

Those guys may have established legal rights to fish there after many years of doing it. Should you lock the gate, you may end up in court, or worse. Be careful of what you do on "their land."

Chappy, tell God to get over here and start doing some planting:) As much as anyone I realize that you can't own anything, just get to be the custodian and pay the taxes for awhile. My hope is that those who fish in my little portion of the stream won't be too concerned when I hunt on their land. I have no problem sharing so long as people are respectful and have decent manners with consideration to the land.

I was supposed to clean out my garage all weekend in anticipation of my move. I did get a little done on Sat.

We wound up getting free tickets to the local production of "The Music Man." Sat I had Reece at the ballfield for team photos at 8:30. Our park is on a large lake. Reece is playing chase with another kid and yells out something about a water mocossin. He's been on a snake kick so I didn't think too much about it. He wound up back over on the bank and several kids were gathered so I thought I should check things out. There was a snake's head peering out of the water at a group of grinning 7 year olds. It was just a water snake. It was sticking out from under a rock with it's head about 2" out of the water. It'd look a while then go back under the rock. A kid threw a rock at it, but within 5 minutes it was checking us out again. It swam from about 10' from the bank to about 3' and then turned and swam off into deep water. We then had his game then little sisters team photos. After lunch, we cleaned up, and went to the play. It wound up lasting 3 hrs but we had a blast. Afterwards the cast came out in the audience and most of them commented that they didn't even know there was a baby in the audience. Baby Addie did great. On a whim we went to B'ham to a great Mexican restaurant in celebration of Cinco-De-Mayo. Emma loved the pink coozie handouts with the restaurants name on it. Good times. Today will be busy trying to catchup all of the work I should have done. If I can have all of hte projects done by lunch then I shouldn't be too far behind.

Today will bring some work, a trip to the landscaper's w/ my little bro, to order 4 tons of flagstones and slag sand, and a gorgeous sunny day.

You all enjoy your Monday!!

Yesterday was another day of outside chores, but I wrapped everything up in time for a nice bike ride. With the escalating gas prices I'm thinking of doing my grocery shopping by bike. The plan involves my backpack and pedaling 12 miles or 16 miles (depending on which town) to the store, loading up and returning home. Looks like I'll have to start paying attention to weather forecasts. I like the idea of combining necessary activities with exercise; keeps me away from those Godforsaken fitness centers.

Nimblefoot, those mylar bags the grocery sells for frozen stuff really work well. I have an insulated one that'll keep ice cream frozen for four hours. I bet an uninsulated one would work for 16 miles.

Now that I'll soon be living about 8 miles from the office I wouldn't mind a small motorcycle for the commute. I think it's just an excuse for a bike that I won't end up buying anyway. Heck, it'd probably take 5 years in gas savings to actually justify it, but it sure would be fun.

If I was going to blow money on a recreation vehicle it would actually be a boat of some sort. The lake that's in our town is a bit over 15,000 acres. It'll be a while before we could afford to make that purchase, but a guy can dream.
