It's another beautiful day here close to the Melbourne International Airport. The forecast is for "Mostly Sunny, Hi 77°F." Blocking of my street a block away is wonderful. It not only keeps factory workers away, but blocks a popular short cut for for other motorists. People can avoid three traffic lights by cutting through the Trailer Park here. I love the new set-up. There is less traffic, it moves slower and is quieter. But some residents are objecting. To go NE or NW they have to zig zag two extra blocks and hit a traffic light. This ignores the fact that they could drive another block and miss the traffic light to go NE. But their objections are directed toward the wrong problem. It is the returning traffic into the Park that will have real problems. The divided street does not have adequate space between traffic lanes for old folks to rest their big cars and pick-up trucks, while waiting for a break in the opposite traffic. Eventually, after enough accidents, they will have to put in a turn lane and a turn signal. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.” 8:14:08 AM 4/22/07 “Morning, everyone :) Beautiful day here as well... going up to 80 and going to be sunny all day. I have a dayhike planned at Hawk Mountain. I should have been well on my way by now, but my company is late to meet me.... I'm hoping they remembered... I can't even call because their phone broke earlier in the week :-\” 8:15:59 AM 4/22/07 “Mataharihiker is hereby demoted to second class. She went to the other side first before visiting TT! Mataharihiker - You goofed! You had the right idea, but you failed to get your coffee before writing something stupid!” 8:28:30 AM 4/22/07 “Hey Paul! I am flying into Orlando at 12:40 PM and renting a car.....must get a map. I have a place to stay and would love to meet up if only for a little while. Its been at least thirty years since I've been to Florida.” 9:01:14 AM 4/22/07 “Good Morning! Mata you hit 80 yesterday??? Wow! I think we were at 70 with a nice breeze. Perfect weather except the breeze kept blowing the leaves I was raking. I never understood raking in the fall when it's cold and wet, I love to rake in the spring! First day out with shorts for the year; blinding all the neighbors driving by... ; ) My reward for HOURS of raking was a Harley ride, one of my neighbors stopped by with an offer I couldn't refuse! Of course I had to cover those white legs with some jeans... maybe that was his intension all along! Today I'm off on a shopping spree with my 14 year old daughter. She has saved two paychecks from her 1st job and is ready to blow it all on clothes! ahh... to be a teenager again! Have a great day all!” 9:13:33 AM 4/22/07 “ Found it --- (in a book, no less) "Fog" The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on. Carl Sandburg 1912 ” 12:05:33 PM 4/22/07 “Very poetic, but then...it's a poem:) I love imagery in a poem.” 2:58:39 PM 4/22/07 “hi” 3:07:27 PM 4/22/07 “Hi, back to ya:)” 4:11:10 PM 4/22/07 “Good-morning and good-night to you all... I am off to bed shortly. Good day to sleep rainy and in the 50's.” 6:18:22 AM 4/23/07 “Good morning, last week 12 inches of snow fell and today it's supposed to be 84. Crazy weather, but I'm glad the snow melted and the warm weather is here.” 6:31:25 AM 4/23/07 Hugs. “Good morning. It's another beautiful day in Melbourne, Florida. Forecast: "Today: Sunny, with a high near 80." What more could I say. Enjoy your day. last edited: 4/23/07 6:40:54 AM” 6:39:34 AM 4/23/07 “Morning! Rain coming here. It's good. Both Birch and I are tired of digging. A few days of rain will give us a break. I hope it all gets soaked up fast though....don't want too long of a break. Really overdid it with the foot this week. It's just killing me. To think I thought I'd be able to hike by now. Not a chance. It's been 3 months to the day. I'm starting to wonder how long it'll take or if things will ever be the same down there. Not much doing today unless I can get outside. If I can I'll be weeding the blackberry patch before the weeds get a good foothold. Mrs. Robin has been taking bits of cat tail root for her nest this morning. I need to find a suitable perch for the birds so they can get to the water in the pond easier (basically a big stick). Hope you all enjoyed your weekends.” 6:55:55 AM 4/23/07 “geeze sass, sorry about your foot! Let Birch do the digging... You guys missed an awesome weekend!” 6:59:48 AM 4/23/07 “Morning. Sidelined this morning with a nasty sinus infection. Even called in sick to my sub job this morning. Hopefully I'll be good to go tomorrow. G did a lot of work in our yard yesterday, and its starting to look good! I have a few more weeds to pull, and we can put the rest of the mulch down. Trying to grow some grass under a spruce tree too. Sunny this moring, but we've got t-storms on the way. Take care, all!” 7:31:45 AM 4/23/07 “No T-storms here, but sunny and 82. I got a good sunburn this weekend from the Highland games Saturday and puttering around the yard yesterday. I wore sandals the entire time, so the sunburn pattern is pretty funny. I need to hit the grocery store today, but I'm not going anywhere until a certain little girl eats more than 2 bites of her breakfast. I need to go to Home Despot too, to look at things for the yard and a push mower for HPM. ;)” 7:57:41 AM 4/23/07 “Sass, what did you do to your foot? (can't remember) Golden Cue 299 North Babcock Street password: Skipper” 8:02:25 AM 4/23/07 “A flying log broke it on a hike in January. Playing pool today MarkO? Good luck!” 8:10:55 AM 4/23/07 “Yowch!! Flying log? I didn't know logs could fly. The Golden Cue is in Melbourne, Florida and that is where NS hangs out and brawls regularly. I will be in Melbourne on Wednesday and will see if I can take him.” 8:24:17 AM 4/23/07 “Logs fly when someone else kicks them down a hillside. I think that's how it went.” 8:42:08 AM 4/23/07 “Nope logs fly when 21 year old boys throw them like a hammer throw.” 9:14:00 AM 4/23/07 “AH, I thought it was kicked. IF someone wants to chuck logs like that then they should learn the caber toss.” 9:19:47 AM 4/23/07 “Left the windows open last night. It was 65 inside when I got up. Perfect sleeping weather!” 9:20:55 AM 4/23/07 “Well, Yeltsin just died.” 9:32:02 AM 4/23/07 “Party on, Boris!” 11:07:19 AM 4/23/07 “Congratulations, Div! (how did I miss that?)” 11:08:17 AM 4/23/07 “hello.................” 12:29:24 PM 4/23/07 “Hell.....................Oh!!” 12:44:35 PM 4/23/07 “ooh, mARKo and NS get it on...oops, that didn't sound right...maybe I need more coffee.. Good morning, all!” 5:22:18 AM 4/24/07 “Sorry about the leg still giving you fits. Wow, what a whirlwind past few days. Thur night Reece yaks. Friday afternoon he seems to be fine so we head to Tuscaloosa for the spring football scrimmage. 60k expected attendance. We get to Tuscaloosa about supper time and meet up with my sis and dad. The next morning we head to campus for some tailgating. We were meeting up with a group that was hosting a crawfish boil. All the crawfish, catfish, baked beans, potato salad, cajun seasoned corn, new potatoes, and hush puppies you could eat. Plenty of beer to wash it down with. The game was at 1 so we walked over around 12:30. Big mistake. Spring games are general admission. Each time one upper deck was opened it would fill up. After walking for close to an hour we gave up and went back to tailgating. The stadium was at capacity of 92k. There were probably another 5-10k under the seating levels and on the spirals leading to the deck. THere were another 5k on the Quad. It was amazing. This shatters the alltime record for a spring scrimmage game for all colleges. We left just before the end of the game and got on the road to my folks house pretty quickly. We had bridal shower to attend. Sat night Emma starts yaking then a couple of hours later Addie starts in. We decide to hit the road ASAP so that if one of us got it we wouldn't be on the road. We get home with no problems. I was in meetings all day Mon. Mon night my wife is feeling queasy and I feel like I'm getting a cold. I wake at 1am to hear her wretching. She now has it and I can tell that I'm next. I couldn't get back to sleep and came on it to work at about 2:30 to try and get as much done as possible before I get it. I'm heading home at 7 to get the kids ready for school and hopefully can come back to work at 8. I have 4 jobs due this week and our office retreat starts on Friday morning. Good Times.” 5:30:18 AM 4/24/07 “note: It's not Monday!” 6:26:51 AM 4/24/07 “I know, last night is when she got sick.” 6:37:55 AM 4/24/07 “Good morning, with the warm weather here it's almost time to start cutting the grass again. It's not tall enough yet, but will be soon. last edited: 4/24/07 7:03:17 AM” 7:02:43 AM 4/24/07 “There oughta be a rotary headed tool that swivels from snowblower to lawnmower with a quick snap. That's how fast it changes here. I guess there is one and I have it, my old tractor:)” 7:12:13 AM 4/24/07 “Can I borrow your tractor. Weather has been changing fast here as well. Last Monday the ADKs got 12" - 18" of snow. One week later temps are in the 80s.” 7:16:54 AM 4/24/07 “That's just what happened here. Last week a foot of snow fell and yesterday 83 degrees almost broke a record high temperature. The fishing season started, but with all the snowmelt and rain that fell before that, the streams are running too high to fish yet, at least the dry fly fishing that I like to do.” 7:17:35 AM 4/24/07 “Yeah I went fishing two weekends ago. The water was running too high and fast then. It's higher and faster now.” 7:26:15 AM 4/24/07 “We had that nastiness up here dayhiker... My ribs still hurt from "yaking."” 7:36:16 AM 4/24/07 “Fishing sounds good. Maybe on Sunday.... Good morning all. No rain (still) and I'm going to have to water today. Unfortunately our outdoor faucet froze this winter (oddly enough it was the first winter ever we used one of those fancy insulater caps for it), and hasn't been fixed yet. Think I'll go get the parts today. Otherwise it'll be hauling five gallon pails of pond water and the ond is pretty low already. Only one client this morning and then I get to fool around all day. I think Ab and I will go buy elbow and knee pads and a new bike helmet. We have to get that girl feeling confident on her bike w/o training wheels. She rides well if someone helps her get going, stopping is another thing altogether. She leaps off the moving bike and tries to land on her feet. Amazingly, sometimes she does. Have a great day! Dayhiker, stop all the yaking, feel better fast and stay away from work!! Those people don't want that bug before their rafting trip. last edited: 4/24/07 7:52:39 AM” 7:45:21 AM 4/24/07 “http://www.news4jax.com/sports/12970096/detail.html Sir Edmund Hillary is in the hospital after a bad fall. I didn't realize he was still alive. I woke up at at 5:15, thanks to a redeye flight that passed low and loud over our house. Grrr. On the flipside, I've already taken care of several errands this morning. I still have to go to Home Despot though. That's a risky scheme. It looks like a nice day here, partly sunny, with high cloud buildup. I've got more of a sunburn already this year than all of last year in Florida, since I spend so much more time outdoors here. My biggest problem is how burned my feet are. I've been wearing my Tevas all of the time. Guess I'd better load up on more sunscreen.” 7:53:25 AM 4/24/07 “If copious smalltalk causes vomiting.... yeah, that's a problem.” 8:27:51 AM 4/24/07 “dayhiker = Who plays football in Tuscaloosa? I reckon the fans enjoy seeing them play without losing. Oh well, it's the good times that count.” 9:13:02 AM 4/24/07 “If I make anyone here sick then they'll kill me. OTOH, if I don't make my deadlines this week there'll be trouble with the clients.” 9:17:15 AM 4/24/07 “Dayhiker, I'll try to keep my sinus infection to myself. I've got a pretty nasty cough to add today, and feel absolutely tired. Hopefully the rest of hte week goes better. I have a non-urgent, yet urgent appt. at the OB tomorrow. I didn't get too much info about it over the phone, but there appears to be a possible pregnancy complication. Hopefully they're just being very proactive and wanting to check things out. I'll know more tomorrow, but it doesn't make the waiting easier. G's baseball team got mercied 2x again last night, so they're now 1-7. Poor kids. They simply don't have their heads in the game. G comes home so deflated every night, I don't know what to do with him. Going to water our newly seeded grass when I get home, and that's about it for me. Have a good one folks.” 9:30:11 AM 4/24/07 “mARKo - I';; be around for a few more days. Please call at the G.C., so that we can get together.” 12:42:17 PM 4/24/07 “Another morning here on TT...my car is behaving weirdly...I have to jump start it about every other couple of days...maybe time for a new battery? I really love the portable battery humper Bill gave me last year for Christmas...have a happy hump day, everyone... And, a special good morning to stovestomper if he checks in.... last edited: 4/25/07 5:12:54 AM” 5:09:46 AM 4/25/07 Hugs. “Good morning. Life is great - getting spoiled by all this wonderful weather. Enjoy your day.” 6:16:39 AM 4/25/07 “Mataharihiker - What is a "portable battery humper?" Thanks.” 6:31:08 AM 4/25/07 “Morning everyone. SG, you are in my thoughts today. Hope all is well and if not, remember there is a good chance that whatever they tell you could be wrong. Rain here. We need it badly so I don't mind. Hope it keeps up all day. I have to work all day anyways. Mata, seems to me that could also be the do-hicky that charges your battery as you drive (alternater?). Hope you all have a good Wed!” 6:49:55 AM 4/25/07 “Good morning, more rain coming here too, but we don't need it. The streams are too high as it is and this will make it worse. I hate when all the rain comes all at once and then mid summer everything usually dries up.” 7:01:05 AM 4/25/07 Jump to Page << prev
