Morning all

It looks like my nice new Japanese maples took a hit from 21 degree temperatures this weekend. I think they'll live, but they won't be pretty for a while. I need to find a nursery that carries "Superthrive" around here.

My mom already called this morning. She still can't get over all of the great sewing, quilting and fabric stores around here. Uh oh.

good mornin'...

It was a chilly easter, but the kids still wanted to sleep outside - lots of wet snow so we slept in the truck. Woke up to a hard frost on the windows, and a cold egg hunt in the snow. :)

Morning!! Home is wonderful. No goat this trip, even worse....Menuedo. It's the most vile smelling stuff I've ever put in my mouth. It was very difficult to eat. After the meal Birch and I compared notes. We both swallowed the tripe whole and both agreed it smelled like a combo of pee and poo. Birch said he just kept on imagining he was on Survivor, lol. Do not try it EVER. Texas was cold too but had some lovely wildflowers blooming. Got in a short visit to the Japanese garden again for a bit more inspiration. And it is soooo good to be home again. Hope you all got a nice fat chocolate bunny yesterday!

Hey if tomato sauce can help cut the smell of skunk then it should work on tripe.

Now it makes sense why they serve it that way. I'm pretty sure they boil it just like you would pasta and it's cut up into small strips that look like pasta.

Get to meet wolfeyes for a short hike this morning. Should be sunny and cold (imagine that). So far we're at 30°.

My poor pansies don't look like they're going to bounce back from the last (I hope) dregs of winter.

Just got back from the wrong side of Wisconsin last night. Todays job: digging up a sewer line. It seems my tenants are not delighted with wading in their own poop while they shower. Picky-picky. When my septic tank was froze up, I pooped in a plastic bag and bathed in the sink. Clearly these people aren't hikers. Sissies.

Morning! I'm off to the dentist in a few minutes. Its over an hour drive...she's a friend, but its time to find a new dentist. She's not cutting us any deals on our bills, so forget it!!

No work again for me today. Not even a phone call this morning. I'd say I'm becoming depressed about my career, but I've been in the dumps for a while.

We find out (hopefully) if we're having a boy or girl on Thursday! Hopefully the baby cooperates, and everything else looks good too. :)

Stay warm out there. We're going to be in the mid-40's today, but more snow is on the way tomorrow. G is so depressed about baseball season. Probably won't have any games tomorrow either.

Have a good one, all!

Good morning all you happy campers...32F and our predicted 3-5 inches of predicted snow has so far resulted in, oh, what, maybe an 1/2 inch...of course, this may change as the day moves forward.

Kicked my pneumonia last week-end by staying in bed, nonstop, for 48 hours...knew I had won when I woke up starving Saturday morning and ate 3 sausages, 2 fried eggs and hashbrowns...

Now, I'm just fighting off the pain from, what feels like, a broken or cracked rib on my right side...trouble is, I don't remember doing anything to injure it...I can lessen the pain with Aleve or ibuprofen...too cheap to go to the doc, spend $300 for appointment and x-ray to have them tell me to take it easy until it heals...actually, I'm just sick of going to doctors...period...the hardest thing to do is breath and cough...no problems picking up heavy stuff...weird...

I wish my body would give me grief in winter when I don't plan so many adventures...I'm having to miss a trip this week-end where I was going to see many old friends and some new ones...that just sucks...

Snow to Rain today and Rain to Snow tomorrow. Highs of 39°. I should get out there and fill the bird feeders before it starts. It's dark enough to be 5am here.

Next Tuesday the house two doors down auctions. Bids start at 10,000 if anyone needs a filthy 2 Bedrm/1Bath fixer-upper with a big back yard. I'm scared about what's going to happen there.

Going to pick up a friends wedding gift today, what fun! Ordered it over the phone and am anxious to see it.

You all stay warm and have a happy Wed!

Well, I finally broke down...the pain was just too much...went for chest x-rays yesterday...doc said, "yep, you HAD pneumonia and, by the way, that pain in your side that makes every breath hurt like the dickens is pleurisy" She also told me to continue the treatment I had begun myself a few days ago but to double it...Aleve...intense pain everytime you take a full breath is not lots of fun but I'll deal with it...I am kinda tired of spending hundreds of dollars only to find there is nothing to do but at least I will recognize pleurisy in the future...and I know I beat pneumonia without drugs again...so, I'm pretty happy but very quiet about it...laughter also hurts...

Now, for the important stuff...it's 28 here and I think we MAYBE got a total of an inch of snow...hard to tell as it melted almost as fast as it hit...not even a half inch on the ground now...that is all to end and we've got sun and 60's in our week-end forcast...if that were the case in eastern Wisconsin I'd join the group heading to Kettle Morain State Park this week-end, pleurisy or not...

Neighborhood bear caused me to remove all my birdfeeders for awhile...unhappy birds surround our house...this is a bad time of year to be removing feeders but I've heard this bear is very destructive...

I am totally bummed to read about StoveStomper having a heart attack...

Mataharihiker, it is very impressive that you beat Pneumeunia w/o antibiotics etc! I hope it's you r last case ever. Feel better quickly.

It's warmer than it' was supposed to be here. 44° and looks like it rained all night. Yard is underwater again. I guess really we shouldn't be too hopeful for spring weather until next month. That week of warm sunny weather earlier was such a tease!

The kiddo is feeling better this morning. Now we just have to hope she keeps whatever it is to herself.

Good morning.

With a great summer approaching, let's all get well and stay that way.

The weathermen are still trying to make up for not giving an adequate warning about those tornados that hit Paisley a few weeks ago. Last night round midnight they issued a severe storm warning for much of the east Florida coast as storms moved across the state. Shortly afterwards things fizzled and they dropped the warning. We did get a little rain, but that was it.

Enjoy your day.

What's a rabbit hutch?

Well, the day is finally here, the contractor is breaking ground on the house. I hope I don't go over there at lunch and find all those trees I flagged to stay on the ground. I was able to flag about a dozen dogwood trees while they were in bloom and easy to find.

I'm taking an architect buddy to lunch next week. He's going to suggest some changes to my plans. The thing that stood out to him was wasted space in the kitchen. He'll rearrange it for us. My wife was super excited about that. She's comment that the kitchen is, "sorta weird."

Beautiful weather here. Emma's first soccer game is in the morning. We're supposed to have thunderstorms starting at lunch. I hope we get to sneak the game in.

One other thing, it needs to rain like crazy for the next two weeks. Our office retreat starts in two weeks and the Chattooga River is way down. We're rafting section IV which has tons of class IV, V, and V+ water...when the flow is good. IV and IV+ will still be fun, but give me the V's!!!!
