Morning.

We're supposed to dry out after yesterday's showers. The evening thunderstorms proved a disappointment, although HPM and Laurel sat at an open window for quite a while enjoying the smells of the rain and the spring. Everything's greening up quickly, just in time for a frost expected later this week or coming weekend. We found an incredible Japanese maple to put out front this weekend too; the leaves are red with medium/ fine serration, and the bark is peridot green year round.

Treebait, I'm sure it would be delicious if someone took the time to learn how to prepare it correctly. But, it'll be cooked too fast with little to no seasoning. Sigh.

Goat is wonderful when braised or simmered. I like it much better than rabbit, but I think that also has to do with not finding a really good rabbit recipe yet. I can get locally raised goat and rabbit at the farmers market here.

Why does the Easter Bunny hide his eggs?

He doesn't want anyone to know he's been doing it with a chicken.

Morning! No work for me today. Going to start cleaning out our second bedroom, which will become the baby's room. It'll be quite a job, I'm sure!

Its supposed to be warmer and sunny later today, so I hope I can get back out into the muddy garden and get more of it weeded.

G is back at work today, poor thing. First b-ball game is tomorrow, not sure if they'll play or not. He said the fields are pretty muddy still. My husband will be non-existant for the next 7 weeks. Maybe I'll start to miss him. :)

Have a good day!

Good morning...been so busy I haven't thought about checking in...another gery, wet day...8 out of the past 9 days have been like that...I don't really mind as we've needed the rain and I haven't had any pressing things I needed to do outside...I do hope April showers will bring May flowers...

When do you leave for Texas, Sass? flying or driving?

Friday, and flying. It would take four days to drive there and back. It's just a quick visit. Birch is out of vacation time for the year (gets his new time July 1), so we can't stay longer.

No, the father in law raises them in his backyard. He doesn't butcher them since his first attempt went awry and he woke up on the ground after getting knocked out by "Rambo". I think he pays his mexican neighbors to do the deed and I doubt they use hallal methods.

Good morning TTers...colder today...35F right now...

Something gross happened yesterday...I was out in the yard when I smelled something that had died. I looked around and finally sighted a waste paper container near the screen porch..it was full of water and fur...turned out to be 6, full grown grey squirrels...how that happened I do not know but it's not going to smell so nice around here for a couple of days...the container was so heavy all I could do it empty it over the hill...there's enough wildlife around here to dispose of them pretty quickly...still...gross...

On that note, may I wish you a good day....

Morning!
Thunderstorms on the horizon here. It's going to be a loooong morning with a six year old wrapped around me. Anyone have any ideas for getting this wonderful child to stop being afeared of thunder? We've made thundercake, read and learned about hot and cold clouds bumping together, tried imagining angels bowling, found the lightening that comes with thunder to be just beautiful and she likes looking for it, but the thunder gets her everytime. I'm at a loss.

Chappy, I felt like you do yesterday. Electrolytes helped. Ten hours of sleep last night helped too. Easter must be your busiest time.

Sass, I don't know how to stop them from being afraid. Ever since my kids were tiny I have taking them out onto the front porch to watch thunderstorms roll in. We'd curl up together under a blanket to keep the waind and rain off us. When the blanket would get to wet to keep us warm, that was my cue to take them back inside :).

Sometimes my 2 girls and I would curl up on my 2 man hammock (I had a tarp above it) all bundled up in blankets and let the storm rage all around us. God I loved it. They loved being with me and laughing at each other for jumping when a loud boomer would go off.

I'm no help Sass. I just stopped being afraid of thunder last year! j/k. :)

Well, another day, still no work. Not that I'm complaining just yet. I'm enjoying the luxury of unemployment for the moment.

Waiting for the second round of t-storms to roll through here this evening. We've already had an inch of rain today. Not looking forward to the snow on the way.

Catch up with you tomorrow!

I'm driving out to Gastonia today, to what locals consider an incredible quilting and fabrics store, Mary Jo's. My mom wants to got there, then down to Rea Road near the SC border to another store, and then up north past our starting point ot hit a Bernina dealer. Yikes.

Poor Sass, stuck with in laws, cold weather and poorly cooked goat!

I had to turn on the heat this morning. It's definitely not Florida any more! There's temps in the 20s expected here the next couple of nights, so I have to cover or move tender stuff. No big deal, really.

I have to take my mom shopping again today. SHe didn't bring any warm pants with her, just lightweight stuff.

There's a wonderful plant nursery near here called Dearness Gardens. I was pointing out the terracotta selection there, when I realized there was a real cat sleeping in the middle of all the terracotta cats. Laurel found a new friend there. I haven't seen a cat so appreciative of a loud little kid scratching it all over before. It was one happy cat.

Looks like Sass will be bringing the weather south with her. Highs in the low 80s in the last few days will drop to the high 50s on the weekend. Sorry about the in-law thing!

Those lower temps ought to put a slight chill on the old golfballs --- Maybe the fair-weather fans will stay inside and more tickets will be floating around Saturday-Sunday.

Oh... Favorite golf joke punchline:

"I pointed and said 'Does that look like yours?" and she hit me in the throat with a 5-iron"
