humanpackmule - Sorry that irked you. You have relocated in some good fishing country.

I was trying to trigger someone on the idea of a housewarming party for you. Also, I've been hoping for a good backpacking trip to welcome you to your new area.

I'm all for fishing. No issues there, I plan on doing a lot of it up here. Koi are not for killing/eating.

It's all good.

I was not thinking of the Koi, which are for show, but the 100+ gift of fry that suddenly showed up. It's somewhat a large number to consider as pets for most folks. But, of course, they are still too small to be considered as food. I don't even know how large they may grow or if they are any good for eating. And I imagine that most of the neighborhood frogs would be too small for consideration, too. Commercially distributed ones likely would have more meat on them.
Hope to have an opportunity to visit with you in the near future.

I think both Mason Williams and John Hartford were frequent flyers on that old Glen Campbell back in the 60's and 70's. Good show. Poor old Glen sure has hit the skids. One of the worst combovers in recorded history.

It's almost 10 am here in sunny Jacksonville and here I am the first to wish y'all a good morning...as JimmyC would say, "SLUGS!"..LOL

Yes, I know you have all been up ages ago and have better things to do than sit at a keyboard...

Went to hear the Jacksonville Orchestra play John Williams compositions...it was really a pleasure..been years since I heard a live orchestra.

The reason I came down here was to help my Dad, who has Parkinson's, so my Mom could get a break. She just came back after 3 days vacation visiting friends, to find we had coped just fine. I am SO GLAD things went well.

Hope you all get out to enjoy life in the great outdoors this week-end...

Good Mornin' TT

John Hartford died, shortly after the "Down from the Mountain" video I believe. I haven't seen that in a while, but I think that was one of the last things he did. I recently tried to find his recording of "Turn Your Radio On" and couldn't. I saw him play before "The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band" in the early 70's. What an amazing and bizzare talent. He played music with his body like I have never seen.

Good Morning Campers! (barely!) Man, I knocked the crap outta that snooze button today!

Ah, to see the Dirt Band when they were still Nitty & Gritty! I always think of "Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy" -- classic for sure.

John Hartford was definitely a nut-and-a-half. We need lots more like him... the Genuine Authentic Old Fashioned Steam Powered Aereoplane Captain, his own bad self.

Looking for this? (be advised that the prices might give you conniptions)

Good morning folks
it is 67 here and it might rain, i don't know yet.......nice and dark/quiet as I sit in my office (across the parking lot from the parsonage) The new church I am moving to has the parsonage on the backside of the church, on the same city block that the church owns....I will literally walk out my garage door and into the back of the church.....oh, and it has a large, new family life center for all sorts of ministries to take place in.

Morning! Chappy, the new place sounds exciting. How many times have you moved in your career?
Matahari, welcome home! I'm glad you got the chance to give your mom a vacation and spend some time w/ your dad.

Man, we had a great day yesterday. I worked then we picked up Abby's friend, headed out to our firend's farm and roamed with the kids. We found a pile of antique trash, everyone chose an old bottle to take home and add to our window sill collection. Some are quite unique. We listened to Sand Hill cranes and songbirds and SPRING PEEPERS! And I walked and walked and walked. God, it feels good to work my leg muscles again (and the foot feels okay this morning). The sun was perfect and we all have pink in our cheeks again. We collected eggs, brown and blue and green (I managed to get zapped by the electric fence-YOW) and they and some bisquits made the best breakfast ever this morning. I wish I could have some chickens at my house. They'd probably drown in our backyard, lol.

So, applewood is burning in the woodstove, rain is pouring down and we're playing hooky from Church this morning. Dogs are getting spring baths as I type. Life is good.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Got brakes in the old truck yesterday and cut a little wood. We worked slowly and leisurely, taking lots of sunshine breaks; Freckles appreciated that everyone was outside with her and seldom left the yard.

Today is about the plumbing situation and installing some cleanouts in the basement.

It won't be long and fresh asparagus will be popping up along the drain field. I'm anxious to see what woody surprises await me on the perimiter of the yard. Clearly there are grapes and some apple trees, but what else?

I hope your septic problems clear up ok. You need time for many other things. Have fun on your rounds of your "40."
BTW, there is a chance that I'll get there sometime in the summer. My daughter wants me to go with her and my granddaughter to visit a number of sights in the far west. Relatives in White Bear Lake are included on her list. You and your place are on my list.

$250 may seem high for a goldfish, but it's cheap for a koi. My wakin don

It was mid to upper 80's here yesterday. Reece and I went over to the house lot late yesterday afternoon to try and stake out where it'll go and decide what trees to save. He didn't want to go but did and was a pretty good helper. The knucklehead next door pushed his way back on the lot. I'm trying to lay it out so that it will work well in case we're ever able to get a pool. If I match the neighbor there won't be much room. I hope it won't look weird to push mine 20-30' forward relative to the neighbor, but too bad. That's what I need to try and do.

Today is the first day of soccer practice for the kids. Reece is usally so passive. We've been practicing lots in the backyard over the last few weeks. I'm anxious to see how he does against the big kids. Emma tends to chance him around with her pink cleats and just generally plays dirty. I hope it's good prep for him.

chappy - sounds like you're 4 years per stop. I hear they're trying to get the average closer to 6 or so. Any truth to that? Our associate minister has been here around 6. The only reason she didn't move last year is she had a child last spring. The church is going to be very sad if she has to move. She really is a wonderful person and minister. Also, have you heard of a Texas FUMC minister named Terry Tykl? He spoke here a little over a year ago. I really enjoyed hearing him.

I'm talking about in the front to back direction. In the side to side direction we'll be about 110' apart. I think with that much distance plus the large trees on the line it'll wind up looking fine we're pulled that much forward.

I think what makes us question any of this is that if you look at most neighborhoods around here the houses are all pretty much the same distance from the front of the street.

dayhiker, I was at my first charge for six years, my second for four years, and here for seven years (my new record).
I knew Terry Teekyl when he was pastoring Aldersgate in Bryan/College Station. Since then he left the pastorate to travel and do speaking engagements on prayer. He was always a 'pentecostal' type, intensely spiritual person. He left Aldersgate a couple years before I left my first charge.
The first charge I had was three churches, the second charge was two, and this is just a one church charge, as will be my next church in a couple months....only God knows how long I'll be there.........

Morning everyone. I'm a happy gal today - had a lovely weekend, donning new clothes today, and have just until tomorrow at this assignment! Yippee!

Going to be in the 70's here today, and I don't think I need to stick around much after school. Going home to enjoy the day. G is off school all week for spring break. I'm a bit jealous, but I'm taking the end of the week off for a little break.

I've got plans this week to wash windows and clean out the violets in my garden. I hate those buggers! Maybe the spring bulbs will bloom this week. :)

Good morning all - back on the wrong side of Wisconsin this morning, working on my daughters renovation project. Got a lot done at my place over the weekend, including getting the toilet to flush and drain. I wish I currently have all your apparent remodeling skills, Stovestomper; this side of the learning curve can be trying. Chappy - for my first 12 years in the service I moved every 18 months.
