Good morning. It sure is wonderful to see all you great people up and around. I miss you on the days that you're not here.

Just listened to the weather forecast on WQXR.com. And then I realized, that's in New York, not here in Florida. It always cheers me up. Even though it is a little chilly this morning, it is nicer here.

Have yourself a fantastic weekend.

In Baltimore we went from steady rain through sleet to snow and we have a crusty inch.
The temperature is 30.

Hey Sassafras, I saw the picture of your yard.
It looked like a good place for a game of mud football.

I'm in a chipper mood today. It looks like the house is a go. The builder came to my office around 5 yesterday for us to go over number. By 7:30 we had a handshake deal. I'm buying the fullscale plans Monday and he can then go out and tighten the pricing and get bids that folks will stand behind. The number will drift a bit, but not much. I'm pumped.

Damn! I AM in that greater watershed Nimblefoot is in! Streams around here reached "raging torrent" Tuesday night. I was at a township meeting the the "small" creek beside it... well, I was hoping it didn't wash us away!!

Things were much calmer on Wednesday. Now, unless it rains a lot, I think the snow should go off without tons of floods... I theeeenk!

Have a good Sunday!

Good morning. After all those mornings looking at my wife, you folks look beautiful.

These days my computer takes longer to get up than I do. But then it just gets to sit there, through all kinds of abuse. At least I can move around a little. So I'm at the Resource Cafe, enjoying morning coffee and mini-cupcakes, while using one of the computers.

Have a great day.

Here...

Good Morning. Lots of fun stuff today. Motor Mom's w/ the kindergarteners and then the dreaded Market Day truck. Do you guys all have markey Day in your schools? It's basically overpriced, unhealthy frozen prepared foods that are sold monthly for fund raising. I hate Market Day, refuse to order anything, rarely can even find one item out of hundreds that is priced fairly enough and is healthy enough for us. So I have to unload the truck today. See, those PTA moms, they know I grew up Catholic and will do anything they ask because we don't buy their crap food. I think I'm going to have to put the cast back on for this one.

The birds are singing their hearts out. Just a few lumps of snow left on the edges of sidewalks and driveways. Spring might show up here tomorrow. Birch just told me it's supposed to be fifty.

Alright, I'm rambling. More coffee.
Have a good last day of winter TTers!

Its not right that public schools have to hustle sales to raise money.

They tried to get my kids to hustle wrapping paper and stuff every year and I refused to have my kids going door-to-door.
MARKo

I generally write a check at fund raising time. If they sold something good I might buy it but the same old crap is still crap.

Someone needs to start teaching these teachers how to conserve resources. I remember using last weeks spelling test for this week as a kid, having scrap paper boxes in every room (and using it), etc. Now, entire reams of construction paper get thrown in the trash becasue someone doesn't want to walk next door to put it back on the shelf. And yet, there's not enough money. It's a wonder.

75° for a high today. It's the coldest day this week. The rest of the week is 80-82. Spring is on.

I like our schools fund raisers. One that they do is a book fair with books that are actually worth buying and fairly priced. Another is that each class has a class project as well as individual projects. You can buy your kids project for something like $1-$5 depending on comoplexity and they silent auction the class project. People and businesses in teh community also offer goods and services for the silent auction.

Last school year there was a quilt used as a class project. Each child made a drawing on a particular theme on a patch of cloth. Two mothers took the patches and had them sewn into a quilt. One of the dads is a major league baseball player. The other dad owns a construction company. The quilt wound up going for well over $1000.00 because both the moms had such a sense of ownership over the project.

I believe that public education should be fully funded by the public as a shared responsibility.

The money should also be spent responsibly by qualified professionals.
They do work for us.

Market Day??
That sounds like a corporate hustle of bad food.

Good morning.

Give me a break, Sassafras. That poor, delivery guy deserves a little extra. He has to deal with a lot of uncooperative, unappreciative people who don't want to see or help him, and is at risk of a million, young children running around. His only joy is seeing the attractive woman who usually unloads the truck.

Have a heart, not a frown.

Enjoy your day, folks.
