We got the same dust, Sass. It's biting cold this morning, but I got to walk "my" 40 (damn it feels good to type that) with a logger to see about select cutting. No moving or painting, rather I will stay inside and try to organize the farmhouse, put away dishes, find stuff I alledgedly can't live without, etc. Have a great day.

No snow here in the Valley, but I imagine we had some at upper elevations. It is a hell of a lot colder here this morning that it was yesterday at this time.

Our dusting is quickly going away in the sunshine we've got today. We finally did the dishes this morning - its been about a week since we've done them! I can't wait to get a dishwasher!

We've also got to clean out the extra bedroom this weekend. My nieces and nephew are coming to stay with us next week, and we're going to put them in that room. Its the "catch all" room, and still has a bunch of boxes in it from the move. Just like Nimblefoot said, its stuff we allegedly can't live without! LOL!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

shoveled the decks, watched the 11y/o sled, hauled the recycling and watching Gonzaga beat Texas. Going to a "record release" party tonight. Too bad I am on call. free beer and wine. :(

Its been foggy in the valley this AM, but that is breaking up an blue sky above. More snow coming early next week. :D

No one up yet, or just not posting here?

We made a day trip to the "other" side of the Smokies, for a little visiting and shopping. Yeah, I admit, there's a few art galleries there that I frequent. I picked up HPM's Christmas present there, and a gift for an aunt. We had a very good lunch at Fermata Cafe. I highly recommend them. They have killer wraps and sandwiches, and their fresh scones are simply divine.

I didn't see any snow while driving through the park, just a little ice in the sheltered areas. This was in the afternoon, though.

I dig having having the Smokies 3 hours away, and learning that Linville Gorge is within 2 hours of me. Coolness.

I've definitely got a chest cold now. At least a lot of it is coming up. It could be a
lot worse.

Well, I've got the coffee, but no robe. Thinking about slicing up some bacon to go with fried potatoes and maybe an egg or two. Later on I may go for a long walk along the river after I put away some of that stuff I moved. Have a good day all.

Goodmorning! We were better about feeding the stove last night. Got up at 8 and there were nice coals still. Temps inside only dropped to 66° too. Not too bad considering last winter we'd turn the furnace down to 60° at night.

Cinnamon raisen pancakes this morning. Today brings church (although I'd rather stay home and drink coffee all morning), a visit to the mom-in-laws for chili, a visit to our market across the street where Santa and his live reindeer will be this afternoon, and puting the ornaments on the tree. Should be a great day.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Oh Sass, how I miss Westborn! There isn't anything like it here. Our Kroger has the worst produce ever!

It was a busy day for us. Late service at church, where the high school choir was singing this morning.

Then, we went to a dance showcase, basically a recital of students at a dance studio. Its the studio where G and I were taking dance classes. We did get up to dance one swing dance, but didn't get to do any other dancing.

We had an unexpected visitor today too, one of G's old roomates happened to be in town. After a quick dinner, off to the high school for the band concert tonight.

Now, I'm folding laundry, G is getting ready for school tomorrow. So far I don't have a sub job, but I guess I'll leave the phone by the bed for the dreaded 6AM phone call. Ug, I hate subbing!

Have a great Monday, everyone.

Wow,it's past 6:30 and I'm the first one posting. Y'all playing hookey? Or nookey? More snow last night. Must be up to half an inch about now. At this rate I'll get to plow the driveway with my tractor by the end of February or thereabouts. I'm thinking of shooting my refrigerator cuz it's so loud. Everything else is so completely quiet out here. Hope everyone has a great day. Oh, and for all of you who wish you had drawn my name in the ornament exchange and did not, it's okay to still send me something. Rumor has it that Nowslimmer paid Sass dearly for the privilege and I just want everyone to know there's enough to go around. Christmas is about sharing.

I told you it's KARMA Nimblefoot. Moooohahaha! No, seriously....just the luck of the draw.

So, I have one mom who's sick and throwing up all over and one daughter who woke up complaining of her tummy feeling weird. Amazingly the two spent some time together just a few days ago. Sabotage from Gramma.

I have a feeling we're going to have an interesting day! As a precaution I have the couch covered in old blankets and the rug rolled up and the trusty purple bowl on the coffee table, bulls eye taped to the bottom. "Postcards from Buster" had mackinaw Island in the winter this morning. I love that show.

A bit snowy here this morning, enough to cover the pavement at least. Wish it was more.

low 20's/mid 50's today with bright blue skies.

Prayers to your family mata.

I am really itching to get out for a hike. I may have to find a way to take my son out before Christmas. I now have to figure out a way to take him without ticking off Emma, my 5 year old. The last time (5weeks or so) they both came and it was cold I wound up with Emma and I both in my sleeping bag because she was cold. She was cold because she wouldn't wear what I told her to wear. Needless to say, dad didn't get much sleep.

-2 this crisp, cold morning. I have to roll into town for PT this a.m. and am curious as to whether my truck will start. The yard is so huge, 3 acres, that the icy wind blows on the vehicle all night long. I'm cold thinking about it. Giving some thought to changing my trail name to Squire Nimblefoot, befitting the status of one living on an estate, lol. What do you think?

I'm envious of your land Nimble. We're in the hunt for land for a house. I want to move out just a bit and get some land to build. Everytime I find something in our price range it gets vetoed because my wife doesn't like the elem. school it's zoned for. Here, out of town means 15 min drive tops. As long as I can still come home for lunch each day then we're not too far out, in my opinion.

. My youngest daughter from Panama was visiting for a couple of months, Jan.-Febr., after her junior year of high school. I enrolled her as a regular student for the opportunity to work on her English. (Turned out she did not need it!) We hit a few freezing days and I told her to wear my long underwear top and bottom. She had a fit and was not going to do it. I put my foot down and won. The schools are not heated. She returned home after school happy as could be. For the next few cold days she was happy and anxious to wear my winter underwear. A little warmth did wonders, while watching some of her classmates freesing in their light clothing.

Mata, you're in my thoughts. So sorry to hear about all the things going on for you right now.

I was offered another long-term sub job today. This is good news for me. Its with the same group of 7th graders, but it'll be teaching writing for 6 weeks! I'm a math/science girl, so it'll be good for me to stretch my comfort zone a bit. Job should start in early February (teacher is having a baby!).

We hung pictures in our living room yesterday. Now it actually looks like we have lived here for for 3 months! We're having guests for dinner on Thursday, and then my nieces and nephew are staying over the weekend. Lots of things to clean up around here, that's for sure.

I'll be back on in the morning, if I don't get a sub job tomorrow.

Good morning! We had a warm up last night...it's almost 20 now...unfortunately tomorrow is the day of Bill's Dad's funeral and we've got an Artic blast headed our way with daytime highs in the low teens...damn! it's gonna be rough...thank you for all your kind thoughts, everyone...

ALl right! smiley girl...at least you won't have to dread those early morning phone calls for awhile next year! By teaching "writing" do you mean grammar or content?

I only worked 4 hours yesterday...first time since Oct. 27...it felt good to be back but I was really tired after only 4 hours...couldn't believe it! Glad my doc wanted me to take it slowly...she was right...it'll take some time to get back up to 10 hour days...I'm actually supposed to work 12.25 hours a day but they've taken pity on me and let me work 10 hours, 4 days a week instead of three 12 hour days and one 6 hour day...

Have a great day and stay warm!

You know you live in North when TV weather guys say it's really nice outside at 14F and going to feel balmy as temps will rise to just below freezing for daytime highs...

My dentist and I decided to put off pulling the tooth that broke off as it could lead to a further bout of osteoradionecrosis and more jaw surgury....

Bill's Dad's funeral yesterday was really done well...as he had been in the Navy he got military honors at the graveside...that was really impressive...I think most of us forgot, for a few minutes, that the windchills made it feel like -15...

I have some very unpleasant things to say about the liquids you must consume prior to colonoscopies...

I stayed under the comforter for an extra half hour listening to the news on the radio alarm clock. I needed to catch up on what's going on anyways. Funny thing, I finally got up and went to see why my B was still in bed. She had the dog up on her bed, curled around her and covered with her best afghan! They both were awake and having a conversation. One side consisted solely of tail wagging and ear movements. =)

I hope you all have a good weekend. Mine will start off with a dentist appointment and calling the insurance company to see what's required to get the humongous dent out of my little car. I got hit pretty good last night. All is well though, no one got hurt.
I just love insurance agents and dentists!

Lol, I didn't think the colonoscopy prep drink was that bad, not that I'd order it in a bar, but the awfulness of it was so hyped that it couldn't match its' rep.

Lots to do. better get on with it.

Upper 30's, low 40's for us today. I'll be out on a 2nd floor looking at rebar before a concrete pour today. That wind will be bad.
