Good morning Sunshines!

I think I have the worst case of poison ivy I've had in about ten years. It's killing me. And it looks nasty.

Ab and Birch are busy making breakfast. Fun at a good friend's pool today. It's going to be HOT (and by that I mean high eighties =) ).

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Morning, all.

Speaking of golf, G is taking me out tonight to play a few holes. Working at the golf course has its perks, including free golf. There is an unofficial league among his friends this summer, and since I hate to miss out on any fun, I'm gonna pretend I acually like the game. :)

Kinda chilly and rainy here, but I guess the rain is supposed to stop. Had some amazing lightening last night, but no wind and not a lot of rain.

Sass, the honeymoon was fun! It rained two days straight, like I've never seen it rain in Michigan. Otherwise, it was great. Did a mountainbike/waterfalling tour in the rainforest, which was a lot of fun. I'll have pics posted at some point. I'm kinda slacking on the internet time, since I acutally have to leave the house now to use the internet! Grr!

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi. Nothing too exciting here. Took my first shower in over two months at the Fontana Dam on Saturday. Some one must have emptied a bottle of shampoo or soap on the floor. My feet slid out and down I went. Ended up flat on my back, after hitting the back of my head hard against the wall and again on the floor. O well, such is life.

Then I tried out my kayak. While searching for a leak in one of the main compartments(side), I allowed the other side to take on a lot of water inside. Now I have the problem of working the water out of it. Never did find the leak, but there is one. However, I'm giving up on using it as transportation to cross Fontana Lake.

Last night I went for a short walk. It ended up being a long walk in a pouring rain. However, the rain just bounced off my 100% cotton shirt, after the shirt was soaked with water.

Have a great day.

I hope you're okay, NS. Don't bounce as well as in days of yore (or nights for that matter), do we?

I did 37 miles on my bike yesterday and it just took the starch out of me. A few more rugged hills, I guess, and I did absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. No biking today; it's back to the yard work.

Nowslimmer, if you have a dollar tree store nearby they sell these excellent water toys that would work well to empty your boat. They look like a giant pencil or crayon but act as a syringe. They probably suck up about a quarter gallon at a time. And they only cost $1. I bought 6 for the neighborhood kids and they've been endless fun. After you empty your kayak you can use it for campsite defense or showering more often. ;)

My poison ivy is worse. Starting to think it must be poison oak. I'm a miserable individual.

Thanks. I feel OK. I should have pulled my chin into my chest so that my head would not have hit anything. But, it's too late now. Guess my head is pretty hard. And I have not seen any floaters, so my eye's retina must be OK. Thanks for your concerns.

Tent Company

Neighbors returned to their tent the night before last and found a skunk curled up in the corner trying to sleep. Their dog entered the tent, but exited immediately. They all slept in their car. The skunk departed before the dawn's early light. It was a kind skunk. It left no residue smell.

Have a great day.

Too funny. A kind skunk eh? I bet the skunk was thinking how kind the people were to leave a door open for him, how kind the dog was to leave him to his sleep and how refreshed he feels, lol.

Well, the poison ivy or oak or whatever on the backs of my legs is headed North. I made my Dr's appt for this afternoon to get my blister pack of steroids. I'm still a miserable individual. Even more miserable today. I have to cancel two clients tonight because it's all over my left hand, grrr.

Tomorrow I leave for my Gramma's 90th birthday party in Kansas. 14 hours in the car w/ the five year old (who does not watch movies while on car trips). Yee-haw. I'll be there through Sunday and then 14 hours home. She's got this great big house that was built in 1914 w/ no a/c.The high on Sunday will be 98°; the attic fan is amazing though.

Oh, I'm up this morning. My motorcycle riding neighbor, who leave for work at 5:45 am, backfired near our house this morning. I think that shortened my life by a few years. Now the groggies are setting back in, and I have 2 appointments to get ready for this morning. One is just dropping off my car for minor work, the other is back to the endodontist, for the 5th time.

It's supposed to be 95 today and no rain since forevr. No bike ride for me, my plan is to finish off one flower garden and build another smaller one. Gotta do a lot of watering just to keep them alive.

Sass - I used the blister pack of steroids (?)you mentioned above, finishing the course about a week ago. Never has it taken this long to heal. Could be age, I suppose, but does Poison Oak take longer to clear up than Poison Ivy? Just curious.

ahhhhh...

cool as a cucumber 54, headed for 79 today. Nice thunderstorms last night, but knocked down some trees and power in town.

My license finally came through. Work starts Monday.

Oak vs Ivy rash should not vary the duration of the symptoms, more likely the intensity of the exposure. I got it so bad as a kid in Ohio that I was laid up for two weeks with weeping blisters. They didn't want to give me steroids for some reason. I have to watch out here in Spokane, we have poison ivy along the rivers and streams.

Good news: We had a bit of rain last night. River's up a little according to the live stream gauge:

Bad news: Likely heat index in the low 100s all weekend.

OK news: We ARE ON A RIVER. lol, can get wet and hopefully enjoy.

Afternoon, all.

Another lazy day for this non-employed teacher. (OK, so its summer and I don't have much to do anyway!)

G and I are headed to the bank to open a joint checking account - I think this means we're really getting the marriage started! LOL! Did some more name change stuff this morning, including my teaching certificate. Yippee!

I have a week-long class the last week in July, and I have to get the homework for that class done before it starts. Good thing its going to be 90-some all weekend, so I can live in the library getting my work done. :(

Everyone in my home is asleep - G, and both of the cats. I'm next...

I got up at 5:50 am, 40 minutes earlier than I wanted to, thanks to one of my neighbors. He was getting rid of a big plastic injection molded playhouse, piece by piece. As he carried each piece to the curb, he kicked it, boom, boom, boom, all the way from the back yard. Ugh. At least I got all the garbage out now, scooped the litter boxes, got all the donation stuff on the front porch for pickup, etc., etc... now I just need my coffee to kick in. Please. Any day now. Hi. Went to Chili's home town yesterday. Bought a medium large, expensive, Black Bear, teddy bear for my youngest granddaughter's fourth birthday.

Drove through Cades Cove around the 11 mile loop. I was looking for a friend at the welcome center at the far end. (I could not locate him.) It was between 3 and 4:30 in the afternoon. Traffic was terrible because of a few people who were driving extremely slow, and sometimes slower, and would not let others pass.

My solution for the Cades Cove traffic problem is to post spotters. who can radio ahead to enforcement personal, who can pull these tourons over to the side and force them to wait while other traffic drives past. An additional penalty time might help, too.

Actually, I made it through in 1.5 hours, including a stop at the far end and a side trip to a trailhead. But I failed to understand what the slow drivers were trying to see. It was too early for the deer to hit the hot pastures.

Have an enjoyable day.
