Good morning. Another great day by the looks of the early morn. The sun gets up these days about 0430 and doesn't turn in til 2130; lots of time to get in trouble. My brother has this place so organized and rearranged that I would be completely embarrased if I really cared. Funny how it works, he'd happily spend all his life organizing everything and never spend any time on those frivolous activities such as river floating, hiking and watching clouds float by. I, on the other hand, do a bare minimum around the house and remove myself to that other world at the barest excuse. The price I pay is never knowing for sure where anything is and ending up with 14 slotted screw drivers cuz I can never find one when I need it. Kind of like the odd couple, only brothers. Oh well, it's only life.

Good Morning!!

So far blue skies today.
Tonight is the preschool graduation program. The kids have been practicing songs for it forever, have been asked to dress up, etc. We're going to staek n shake before hand. Believe it or not that's special. We don't have but four of them in this part of the country.

Nimblefoot, what do you do on rainey days? That's when you're supposed to do the housework.

Yeah, tell it to my workaholic brother.

Rainey days are often the best fishing and river days, however.

Cloudy and showers here, high around 70. Nice relief after 80's and muggy yesterday.

We've got about the same daylight as you, nimblefoot. Still unpacking, getting settled.

Wow. Big news.

Well, my brain is officially mush. I missed going to a sub job yesterday. I got all mixed up because they cancelled a job for today, and then re-entered it, and I though it was for today again. Whoops. Not a good thing! I got a call from the district this morning giving me a slap on the wrist for missing the job. Good thing I'm not looking for a job in this district!

16 days until the wedding, buying a house, and I have two job interviews next week. Ug! I'm heading towards meltdown phase!

Good morning all, I'm finally posting in this morning.
I've got a pile of things for donations, and a pile of things to throw out, and it's hard to tell them apart, aside from the wear levels. Yikes.
It's supposed to be mostly sunny and about 93, but I don't think it will get that high, with a good onshore breeze and lower humidity. HPM's coming home this weekend, and the weather's supposed to be upper 90's and pressure cooker humidity. Lucky him.

Can't imagine the stress you're under Smiley. When my wife and I got married we were so stressed out we were fighting like cats and dogs for four days before the wedding. Then when I saw walking down the isle I melted. Don't worry. It'll all work out for the good.

I like how the online newspaper posts the weather, with a cartoon of the city in the 5 day forecast. Nice forecast too. :D http://www.spokesmanreview.com/weather/summary.asp

OK, I've been up awhile now. Felt like crappity crap crap crap. Sore throat for two days... moving into a head cold.

BUT... then my new Asolo boots were dropped off by UPS at my door. I put the waiting new Superfeet insoles in them and have been wearing them since.

THEN... my friend the mailman called me to let me know I might want to get out there and check my mail. Perhaps a check I'd been waiting on (and didn't expect until next week) had arrived???

AAAH... the day is all better. Still have that crappity sore throat, but feel much better in boots and money.

Sexy Geek? Now there's a trail name!

Headin' down the river with bro #3 today. We're either going to do a couple of days and nights on the St. Croix down to the old home town, or the Namekagon to the St. Croix and on down. I've not done the first section and have heard there's a few areas where you must drag your canoe. Not sure if I can handle that with the physical capabilities of this particular brother. I'm sure we'll have a good time, but am also pleased that family month is drawing to a close.

Afternoon, all!

I'm at the local library (across from G's house) preparing for my interview tomorrow. We drove out to the school on Saturday, and dang, its a long way from here. I was quite excited about the job at first, and a 45- minute drive through a LOT of farm land on a windy, winter day, or worrying about the deer crashing into my car doesn't make me feel so good. Still hope the interview goes well tomorrow, though.

12 more days until the wedding.....

I'm still up. Been up most of the night. It turns out the weird thunder I was listening to at 4 am was actually a tornado skipping its way up from Jax Beach, through Neptune Beach and finally here in Atlantic Beach. It sounds like damage was minimal though. Tornados out here at the beaches are very rare.

I'm back and exhausted. We took the Namekagon to the St. Croix, about 40 river miles in less than 2 days. There was plenty of shallow water and sand bars to drag the canoe through and, yes MH, lots of head wind to battle through. My brother is schizophrenic and manic depressive and taking some heavy meds. Many times he would just stop paddling, often at the most inopportune moments (for me). Well, the trip was supposed to be about him so it was good. When we were kids we used to paddle upstream the same section of the St.Croix in a heavy wooden row boat. It's going to be a rope yarn Sunday today (who knows what that means?).

Nimblefoot, when you find out tell the rest of us okay?

Smiley, how'd the interview go?

It is pretty darn cold here ths week. I think our low last night was somewhere in the 40s. I put the down comforter back on the bed. I refuse to close the house back up and turn on the furnace! Good thing is my lettuces, snow peas and radishes have a chance to grow instead of getting baked.

Rope Yarn Sunday, a nautical term. Essentially it's a holiday of sorts on ship which the Skipper declares. It allows the crew a modified day off in which they are supposed to take care of their personal tasks, mending clothing, sewing on buttons, writing letters, etc, while allowing them some much needed rest. That's what I'm going to do today, piddle around the house while taking it easy:)

The interview went OK, I guess! It was hard to tell. The panel of 8 people were not too exciting. I think they're tired of interviewing people! I'll hear back from them by the end of this week.

I sent an email to Henry Shires yesterday p.m., asking him the price for the rear (curved) pole for my Virga tarptent to replace the one broken while on the river trip with my brother. As I was typing I explained to my brother, Tim, about Henry's service, stating that he'd ship the pole, tell me the price and I'd mail him a check. Within a couple of hours I got a return email from Henry stating he was sending me some extra poles (free) and a new prototype tarptent that weighs less than the Virga but with more head room. He said there are no poles and the only moving part is the zipper. Is it even possible to beat service like this, even if someone wanted to?

Well, maybe if someone sent a package of cookies or some candy along with the tarptent.....

Yep, got lots of rain, but all the twigs, small branches and leaves that got blown in turned the water tea brown. Beautifully clear, but brown. It'll take forever for the carbon filter to get all that out. So, I'm doing a partial water change today. No biggie. All the big oak trees around here sure as hell don't mind getting a drink of pond water. The canopy looks fantastic this year.

I'm sure going to miss the heavy tree canopy when we move.

About finished with the coffee and it's time to fix breakfast; bacon, eggs and fried potatoes sound pretty good. No rigorous activities today other than putting in a couple of small flower beds. Woke up this morning to my cell phone ringing. It was that dippy Dr. I worked for. She's decided she's going to pay me now. Yesterday she was going with the "I already wrote and sent you a check and I think it's been cashed" game. I told her we needed to meet at her bank to report a fraud. Today she says it's in the mail. We'll see in a day or two. This time it was over $400. I'll be glad to have it, after almost a month.

Haircuts all around today! Hoping the little one sits still for once. She gets to go to a fancy salon for the first time ever. Normally the local Barber, Mr Alex cuts her hair. He has cut his finger pretty badly before while trimming her bangs (due to her squirming).
