“Beautiful day in the part of Wisconsin that is still Wisconsin. Lots of snow still piled up on the street corners, but it's melting fast. I'm still moving out of my house, but the big stuff is finished. Now that I'm in town I'm able to hook up with my fellow retiree's and plan some spring and summer fishing trips. Ice fishing isn't finished, but the sense of forthcoming spring brings hope.

“I'm stuck at my parents house again sucking water out of the basement every 3 hours. I got a whopping 4 hours of sleep last night, between the water problem and not being able to fall back asleep when we got done.

My parents are in Florida. I'll be talking them into coming back to Michigan ASAP. Waiting for them to get back from golfing first. Grrrr.....what a waste of a weekend!”

“I dream that way too Divinty, although not the pigs. I can smell in dreans but I can't taste anything. That's sometimes how I figure out I'm dreaming, but then I always wake up at that point.

It's supposed to reach 86 here today, with a cold front rolling in this afternoon. It better rain here. It's bone dry for a long time running now. My bobkitty was back ealier this morning, drinking from the pond. He's a big boy. I wonder if he's the reason there's so many bobtailed domestic cats around here the past few years. There's a beautifeul katten (half grown) I saw last week; like a cross between a red Maine Coon with white socks, and big bobcat tufts on its cheeks, and a short little tail. Just beautiful.”

“Finally arrived at GSMNP's Cataloochee Valley last night. Arrived late with snow flurries. There was a light snow on the tent this morning and the higher mountain areas were beautiful. All the branches were a reflecting white in the morning sunshine.

Had some difficulty setting up the tent. My fingers would not cooperate in the cold. But I slept warm in a 30 degree bag from Walmart. This morning I went to Bryson City. A little mail from one address was there, but my main Post Office mail had not arrived, yet. Neither had the forwarding forms from the Post Office. I just hope I'm not experiencing another mail foul-up again. The PO screwed my service previously and I still have not recovered fully from it.

There was no Host/Hostess at Cataloochee CG. It looks like a Park Ranger may have stayed there in a trailer. He had a broken windshield on the Passenger side of his official vehicle. It was badly cracked to slivers. He said he hit a turkey. I commented that he could have a good meal and he replied that the turkey was really tender now.

New:
1.Rates jumped from $12 per night to $17 at this area. I hate to see what they are in the rest of the Park.
2.Roads need to be leveled. They are not in good shape. On the paved portion leading into the park there are some rough spots that need to be resurfaced.
3.The tent pad where I slept was all dug-up and lumpy. Spring housekeeping has not been completed!
4. Walled structures greater than 12 X 12' are no longer allowed. This, bad roads and higher prices should cut down on the traffic.
