Speeding tickets are a big business. A few years ago I reported getting caught in a speed trap in Kentucky on I-65. It turned out that it was a known speed trap that had been there for close to two years and was posted as such on the Internet. It is gone now, but has probably been moved elsewhere. I estimated that on one shift per day that the trap was grossing $40-50,000,000 per year, mostly from out of state drivers. I think that qualifies it as a big business. There were 10-12 police cars, each issuing tickets as fast as they could write.
