Vann, are you considering a change. Seems I recall a post awhile ago to that effect.” 10:06:52 AM 12/31/05 “I am, Shawn. My current job has become untenable, a great opportunity presented itself. Just got back from my interview. No offer yet, but I know and they know I am the best they have so far. They will be interviewing at least two more people, unless I can convince them otherwise. ;-D” 10:15:40 AM 12/31/05 Happy New Year Hugs “Greetings from Melbourne, FL, 53°F. --> 78°F., "Duo takes 15,000-foot dive. ... when you're in the air, you're not worrying about bills or anything like that." We got a new ergonomic keyboard; I'm trying to get used to it but it's already making my hands tingle, like with carpal tunnel syndrome. HPM's gone back to work today, to get some rest from all the work going on around here. I'm trying to figure out why my monitor now har a severe moire going on, too. Degaussing and automatic moire reduction made no difference. Did someone futz with the settings? Grr. Oh well. Time to catch up on the housework. Joy.” 8:11:42 AM 1/02/06 “Morning all, up to 40 here today, foggy again where is the sun? and the snow?” 8:20:38 AM 1/02/06 “spalpeen - The sun is shining brightly here in Melbourne, Florida. treebait - Your new toy looks like fun, especially if you included the "New Evoluent VerticalMouse 2." The box is cool though; HPM got an ASUS Vento 3600 case in green. The only new thing under the table is the base speaker, which makes a nifty footwarmer and ottoman.” 8:58:01 AM 1/02/06 “Treebait I was thinking about you and HPM last Thursday. We went to Ft Worth's botanical gardens and got to check out the Japenese garden. The koi were magnificent! The whole place was jaw droppingly gorgeous. I'll have pictures on Thursday and try and get them into webshots. It has inspired me to make some serious changes in my garden. Birch went back to work today. The holiday break is officially over. It was fun while it lasted. last edited: 1/03/06 7:56:46 AM” 7:47:54 AM 1/03/06 “Man it is so nice to get back into the groove. A pond supply website has a statue called a "Fire Troll" and I thought of here. It's a gardeN gnome a la Eugene holding a fire hose. I gotta get that one! http://www.azponds.com/spitters.htm He's about halfway down the page. last edited: 1/03/06 8:25:33 AM” 8:22:11 AM 1/03/06 “yeh the holiday's are over!!!!....booo i had to go back to work...i'm really dragging @ss right now” 8:25:05 AM 1/03/06 “Ha! Eugene moves to Jacksonville, Florida.” 8:31:26 AM 1/03/06 “I'm not tempted. Too much work up here. They have to be brought in for the winter, etc. I did that with my goldfish for the first three years then they all got eaten by a great big egret. If I ever put fish in my pond again they'll be feeders who freeze at the end of the year (which isn't very nice). Or maybe I'll dig a deeper pond....with a connector stream.....yeah, that's the ticket! last edited: 1/03/06 8:46:51 AM” 8:46:12 AM 1/03/06 “Koi can winter just fine but the pond has to have a deep enough section for that.” 8:52:31 AM 1/03/06 “have the whole day to dink off by myself. I don't start back until next week! I'm at my parents house right now, I'm taking them to the airport this afternoon so they can finish out the winter in Florida. Lucky folks!” 9:03:07 AM 1/03/06 “Dinking off is the alternative to F'ing off. I'm cleaning up my language this year. :)” 9:08:20 AM 1/03/06 “Sass, like HPM said, also some people just chuck a ring shaped heater into the deep end of their ponds, so there's an aerated area. You don't feed the fish once the water goes below 55 degrees anyways.” 10:00:10 AM 1/03/06 “The deep end in my pond is 1 1/2 feet, lol. Huge renovations would be in order to support koi.” 10:09:33 AM 1/03/06 “Just make the deep end about 3 feet, maybe a little more. How big is your pond anyways?” 10:10:52 AM 1/03/06 “Huge renovations would be in order to support koi True dat.” 10:28:24 AM 1/03/06 “Good morning from Melbourne, Florida, where it is 51°F. --> 77°F., Still a dark night, but will be summy today. It was mostly limited to MA and CT in New England. 8 degrees isn't cold...it's January. I suspect in a couple of weeks, we'll consider 8 degrees to be a fairly mild morning temp. Hopefully, we'll have at least 4 more months of good skiing.” 7:18:36 AM 1/04/06 “110 measley gallons of preformed black plastic. I had ten goldfish at one time that reached up to six inches long before the greedy bird snatched them. Now I have so much plant cover (in summer and fall) that nothing save a starving egret could get to the fish. Meaning, I would never be able to catch the stupid things.” 7:28:22 AM 1/04/06 GOOD MORNING “Well, got one bag night for the new year on a 15 miler day before yesterday. Hike started on Monday at 1:30 and ended at 6:30. Last leg I was hiking on a dark trail, but was able to just barely see it (didn't want to break out my Petzel). Monday night at the campground there were four German Students who had rented a travel trailer and were touring America. Since I was in Germany for two years, we hit it off and they shared their stock with me as we laughed and had a little ritual around "Muhlen geist" some kind of alcohol drink that is supposed to help head, stomach, and heart. What a night, lol. Anyway, I'll post pics when they email them. It was about 35 degrees that night too and a cold sleep in the tent. Next morning I called for a friend to come take me back to the car. What a way to start the new year: new year, new friends, new experiences. Nowslimmer, put me down for 1 bag night............” 7:31:19 AM 1/04/06 “Sounds cool Chappy. While we were in Texas we got a tiny dayhike in at the Dinosaur track park. We climbed as high as we could overlooking the valley and river, maybe about a mile and a half total, tops. We dragged Joe's poor step-mom w/us and his dad was waiting in the car. If we hadn't had them along we'd have kept going!! It was a gorgeous day and the vegetation is very different from MI. I'd like to one day start heading places like texas and new Mexico in winter for hikes.” 8:22:08 AM 1/04/06 “Well, when you do Sass, give me a heads up and I'll get you info. Here in East Texas there is lots of trail to stomp. My fav, though, is the Lone Star Trail, but several others around here are nice and around 20 milers.” 8:25:28 AM 1/04/06 “Thanks Chappy!” 8:30:52 AM 1/04/06 “heehee, treebait is like the drug dealer on the corner, trying to get Sass hooked on the koi! ;-D well 8 degrees is good with me, skiracer! i hope it stays cold, i'm sick of the warm weather making the snow melt and then turn into ice. ice suuuucks, i'd rather it be negative-8 out!” 9:12:11 AM 1/04/06 “Gee thnaks Lyra. :P Definitely stick to goldfish Sass. Although you should check out ebay to see what some people are willing to pay for a 6 inch goldfish.” 9:22:33 AM 1/04/06 “It only takes three years to get a $.10 feeder fish that big with a gorgeous fan tail! But, like I said, it's almost impossible to catch them anymore without ripping out all my lillies and iris' and cattails. The dogs will eat their frozen little carcasses when they pop through the ice in spring but I feel bad about it.” 9:40:52 AM 1/04/06 “The survivors are probably breeding like mad but koi and goldfish are so stupid they eat all the eggs. Geez I remember each spring thaw when our dog would bring home the dead fish that didn't survive the winter from the lake our neighborhood was built around. I usually got to clean up the worst of it.” 9:45:05 AM 1/04/06 “Oh there are no survivors. My pond freezes solid in winter. My dad has quite a nice population of really big goldfish. His pond is teaming with ones so big the grandkids fish for them (I hate it when they do that).” 9:50:12 AM 1/04/06 “Good Morning, Dave............... What are you doing, Dave?” 6:59:03 AM 1/05/06 “I asked you not to tell anyone my real name Chappy. Thanks alot!” 7:06:08 AM 1/05/06 “I'm excited, snow in the forecast all week!! Woo-Hoo!!!!! I really dislike mud.” 7:06:51 AM 1/05/06 “good morning, 59 mins I leave to drive my mother in law to the airport for her 6 week trip to FLA. ohhhh yeah!!!!!! now dont get me wronge, i love her but i am looking forward to this break.” 7:07:39 AM 1/05/06 “I thought your voice sounded a bit low.......... Almost there..my friends are finalizing their dates for Feb. for our hike on the Ouachita Trail (Winding Stair to Queen Wilhemeina's naval).....anyone got some snowshoes I can borrow? Forget it, I'll use a couple cookie pans. last edited: 1/05/06 7:11:41 AM” 7:08:30 AM 1/05/06 “Sure, drop on by and pick them up. Need a gear sled too?” 7:42:55 AM 1/05/06 “Morning everyone! My "vacation" is quickly coming to an end! I'm so sad about it. :( My sister is headed to my house today so we can FINALLY pick out a bridesmaid dress. Hopefully I'll check that off my to-do list by the end of the day! But first, its time to exercise....I've lost 4 lbs over the holidays! Yea me!” 8:00:42 AM 1/05/06 Hugs “Good morning from Melbourne, Florida, where it is 50°F. --> 74°F, Mostly sunny today. Opening day for surfers My knees have finally improved a little. After almost two months on crutches, I was finally able to work out with my aikijutsu class yesterday evening. I did stop after about one hour, when my worse knee told me to do so.
