But I just missed the installers from Murphy when I came off a trail on Wednesday. Today they came to town to do the installation, but the window has a defect. Drat! A replacement is being shipped from Jacksonville, FL, today. But getting together with the installers will be another problem. This is screwing up my hiking plans along with some other car repair deals. Nisan in Melbourne wanted $853 for the windshield plus installation. This one, new, was $90 plus shipping and then installation. The total will be less than $200. There are eight more sites that I want to visit for an overnight this fall, but some are weather dependent and some rains have returned. Yesterday I rented storage space so that I can avoid having things visible in the car, when parked at some particular trailheads. She was driving a beautiful, fully loaded, Toyota conv. We had dinner together at a restaurant that closed at 9 pm, but we didn't leave until 9:30. We had been talking for hours. This morning she said she had a wonderful time with me at dinner. Her husband is a rich, very sucessful lawyer. I gave her a big, big hug, which was returned. I hope this is the start of something. Oh, she hikes and backpacks, too. Oh la, la. I'm back in Bryson City, NC. Have to see if a third windshield fits and can be installed, get the top of the car painted and a few other things done to the car. I fell twice hiking to CS32 and hurt a knee a little, as if they were not bad enough. Car overheated and I had trouble getting maintenance. But my friends, the Polly's, at Creekside Market in Cosby, TN, helped. A new radiator, ordered on Friday afternoon, arrived from Memphis, TN, the next morning. It rained all day, but the Polly's daughter installed it on Sunday. She then had to remove the thermostat, which was stuck. It's so nice to have some real friends who help you when you really need the help. Enjoy the rest of your day.
