It happens.” 9:22:28 AM 8/17/05 “cloudy today but a nice break from the heat. Nights are finally starting to cool off again too. Ummmm.....gotta run, coffee just kicked in ;)” 9:23:39 AM 8/17/05 “(rolls eyes)... yes Bit...it does.... (laughing) HUGS.....LOl....I love you BIT!!!!!” 9:23:46 AM 8/17/05 “I can only dream of cool nights here in Tx. but we have been gettin hella rain. Maybe not much longer, at least by second week in Oct. in time for my thruhike of the Lone Star Hiking Trail (a hundred miler). I'll be tryin' Nigals light packin' suggestions in part. I'm guessin about 40 pounds total. Not too light, huh, Nigal? I'm only taking a week to do it though...real slow for pics and GPS plots.” 9:35:46 AM 8/17/05 “That's OK, I don't pack too light any more either. I have to take the tent for the dog and me, extra stuff for her. On and on... I still keep it around 25 pounds for a weekend though.” 9:39:13 AM 8/17/05 “It's going to be stinking hot again today but so far it's very pleasant outside.” 9:39:43 AM 8/17/05 Nigal “At 51, I find I need the extras also, LOL. I'm no longer a lean, mean...aw hell with it.” 10:00:16 AM 8/17/05 “Chappy....report to the TT senior thread.....” 10:02:28 AM 8/17/05 ““At 51, I find I need the extras also, LOL. I'm no longer a lean, mean...aw hell with it.” I understand. The trick now is to find the luxury items that weigh less but won’t break the bank. Example: The Insul Mat Max. This sleeping mattress weighs nearly the same as the ˝” thick ThermaRest Ultra Light, yet is 2 ˝” thick, insulated and costs about $20 less. This single item is a must have IMHO. Same goes for a good down bag which you can get fairly cheap now. And again, same for the tent. You can get a nice 2 man, 4 lbs tent for less than $200 now. It’s all about cutting down the weight of the Big Three. But leave the scotch at home? Heaven forbid!” 10:08:32 AM 8/17/05 oops..... “What did I do now, Div? The secret to never growing old is never growing up. Nigal, I have a thermarest 'trail' large (i hate rolling off at night), a kelty 'lightyear' 25 bag (2 lbs.), a sierra designs sirius 3 tent (5 lbs.), soda can stove, gregory 'shasta' pack (it weighs a bit). Other than these musthaves, water weighs the most (two platypus 2ltr.). Oh, my food is whatever is quick and easy with snack stuffs.” 2:49:29 PM 8/17/05 “nice and sunny today, prefect for drying my laundry on the line with a warm breeze :)” 2:55:41 PM 8/17/05 “Good morning, everyone! It's a beautiful day here in NH. 46 degrees with an expected high of around 75. I love summer in NH! I'm working with a new client this week. Life is good!” 6:06:06 AM 8/18/05 “The first cup of coffee didn't even last 2 minutes. I'm 3/4 finished with the second cup, too. The heat index for today is 101 degrees, slightly cooler than yesterday. I'm so darned ready to run and hide in the mountains for a few days.” 8:08:54 AM 8/18/05 Treebait “All I think about is the mountains, not these hills we got in texas. Oh, to be back in the Appalachians again.............” 8:21:55 AM 8/18/05 Mapleleaf “Did my comment work for you?” 8:26:57 AM 8/18/05 “Forty pounds for a week is pretty good Chappy. I always hated rolling off my pad too. Now I can't because it goes into a sleeve in the bottom of my sleeping pad. It's one of the best gear inventions ever imo, right after trekking poles. Good morning everyone. I got to sleep in this morning. =D I don't know what's up with the kiddo. Either her Dad wore her out extra last night or she's doing some big growing. I can't believe she slept until 8:20! Two small hellions coming over to play today. We can't go to the lake or to the park because mom can't control them. We can't even go into the back yard because they throw everything they get their hands on into my pond and mom can't stop them. My house will be destroyed by 11am.” 8:31:41 AM 8/18/05 Sassafras “Quickly go to a gift shop or Wallyworld and get a bag full of those nerf balls (about three inches in diameter) They are lightweight, can't hurt anything they hit, especially the kiddos. Dump them on the livingroom floor and tell em to give er hell. I did this with about 10 teenage boys at church camp one year. They had all this energy so instead of letting them tear up the place, I bought a bag (12) of these things, dumped them on the floor, and told em to let it fly. They would wear each other out with the things, form teams at each end of the room and pelt the crap outta each other....and no damage to kids or room. At night they slept like....well....babies.” 8:54:36 AM 8/18/05 “Jeesh, good luck with that, Sass! I'm feeling terrible today. Started last night. Not sure why I came to work today. I'll be going home as soon as I can gather up some work to take with me. My belly is aching....” 8:55:51 AM 8/18/05 One other thing “duct tape the toilet lids down.” 8:56:20 AM 8/18/05 “Sass....do you really want your child influenced by the behavior of the others??????? Smiley....WAYYYYY....too much info :0 ok....off my soapbox...... Good morning hugs......we went to a wonderful place last eve and had a wonderful meal...and then saw Phantom of the Opera......it was beautiful......” 9:25:45 AM 8/18/05 “Div, Absolutely! She knows that she shouldn't act the way they do. But she has a great time playing w/ them too. They do play between destroying things, lol. Truthfully there isn't much in my house they can break or that matters if it gets broken. SG, feel better!” 9:31:04 AM 8/18/05 “Good morning hugs..... Chai again...( all I brought) and I found some packets of splenda in my suitcase, so no salt in my tea this am..... heading for Columbus today to do some shopping for the "House warming" party ....woo hoooo....some nice cheeses...and wine....( I love shopping in Columbus...especially at Short North (or is it North Short???) ....Molly (the beagle) slept with me all night, so it was crowded...and she snores.....and Edward the cat, has to walk on you in the middle of the night(he can't walk around you)...and...who needs an alarm clock...they know when it is 5am and I guess they think if they are up, you should be too.....” 7:30:20 AM 8/19/05 “Yesterday went well. I broke out a bag of balloons and the kids had a balloon party. The nerf balls gave me the idea Chappy, thanks alot! School today, tomorrow and all day Sunday. You all have fun and be nice to eachother. Have wonderful weekends!” 7:34:59 AM 8/19/05 “Good morning beautiful people!!!! :D Go out and enjoy this wonderful day!!!! last edited: 8/19/05 10:03:08 AM” 10:01:32 AM 8/19/05 “Nice. Are you going to post those pictures you took at Chili's?” 10:07:20 AM 8/19/05 “I was gonna post em, but I freakin accidently deleated the file :( I mean I deleated THE WHOLE PICTURE file...and had to make a new one. However, I did get a few up before that happened on http://freehiker0.tripod.com/” 10:09:35 AM 8/19/05 “ok...I only got one up from chilis :( but I did get a scary CB pick up on the first page :D!” 10:12:06 AM 8/19/05 “Dang, I need more sleep! There isn't enough caffeine to keep me going today. I guess I could always change from red bull (fairly mild) to BAWLS (has a warning on the label.)That's the guarana soda that has a bottle that looks like a studded condom.” 11:13:45 AM 8/19/05 Sass “Good to hear all went well. I don't take a lot to keep the kids occupied. Today was a whirlwind for me. Had to get moving while my eyes were still half open. Coffee only when I got to my destination....the hospital....for visits. Had four folks in two different hospitals so I was hoppin'. Home now, dress down, get food, and sit around. Hey, that rhymes.” 3:00:00 PM 8/19/05 “Wake up!” 3:43:35 AM 8/20/05 “Good Morning :D! I hope all is well on this beautiful day! Now go out there and be the best happy you can be :D I have to work this weekend but for those of you who are getting out, HAVE A BLAST!!! last edited: 8/20/05 10:33:15 AM” 10:32:03 AM 8/20/05 “Good morning. It's a beautiful day here in NH! Mid 50s this morning with a little fog and an afternoon high expected of 79. I was walking the dog early this morning and we saw a black bear come out of the woods about 100 yards up the road, look at us, run down the road a little bit and then head off into the woods. I'm glad the dog was on a leash. I'm guessing it was in our yard because the garage side security light was on when we went out. Some of the bark mulch in the yard was dug up a bit and I smelled something a little funny. The dog also smelled it and wanted to go in a certain direction. I don't normally leash him walking on our dirt road, but I did this morning. Well, I better get to work preparing some stuff in the office and then head to a client site. Have a fantastic day!” 6:15:08 AM 8/22/05 “Sounds like a wonderful start to the day Ski. We got great news this morning!!! Birch's new apprenticship was approved and he starts school again this week for heating and cooling contractor. He has been a journeyman electrition for a year+ but was going to lose his job if this apprenticship didn't come through. Whew! We were starting to worry. And Abby got the last slot at the little preschool we want her to attend. =) The weather is gorgeous, September like and sunny. It is going to be a great week!” 7:45:10 AM 8/22/05 “Yea Sass! Sounds like things are going well for you guys! Today starts my last two weeks of my job. Yea! Acutally, I'll do some part-time work here this fall because the price is right. :) I'm excited to put this behind me and move forward with the last of my classes for teaching. :) Its going to be a beautiful week around here. Low 70's today, climbing up the rest of the week.” 8:00:25 AM 8/22/05 “Sounds like great weather Smiley. Almost the kind of weather that makes ya wanna RETURN E MAILS!! LOL!” 8:05:38 AM 8/22/05 “Yes Smiley, I can't express how relieved we both are, and grateful. =) I bet you're counting down the days! I'm excited for you.” 8:12:00 AM 8/22/05 “Sorry Nigal! You must know by now that I'm a big slacker!!!!” 11:32:04 AM 8/22/05 “Good morning everyone. Now that the coffee has hit my brain i'm somewhat alive. Almost got blown away by a twister yesterday. I went to a friends house, greeted him in his kitchen, a bolt of lightning hit the house, rain, hail, and wind. When it was all over he lost two large oaks in his yard and one of them blew down across his driveway. The lightning strike drained my cellphone battery and most of the battery operated things in his house. Weird. I suggested he not invite me back. (on the way over to his house I asked the Lord to bring in a storm to blow the 100+ heat wave out....oops)” 8:43:47 AM 8/23/05 “It drained the batteries? Sounds like a ground to sky bolt of lightning there. I guess you need to fine tune the wording on your prayers, eh?” 8:55:11 AM 8/23/05 Good Morning! “ Check out the butterfly in my garden this morning! Today is perfect weather for my 10 mile training walk :) I have the day off so I'm gonna enjoy it!” 8:56:36 AM 8/23/05 “Treebait, it was the darndest thing about the batteries. Right after the strike you could smell something burning too but just for a sec. Ozone? Was the strike like EMP of nuclear blast to drain the batteries?? Spirit Coyote, I would love to be with you, but I'm going on Friday...I hope it isn't too hot, but then, I could say a prayer ;o” 9:21:51 AM 8/23/05 “It could've been hot plastic. We had just a touch of that smell when lightning hit/ launched from around our house.” 9:36:01 AM 8/23/05 “I get to pick up the dead squirrel that we kinda forgot about before we went on vacation. now it is more bones then skin. kinda gross but kinda cool too!” 9:38:27 AM 8/23/05 “You could always clean the bones the rest of the way and make a nifty necklace to wear on your rounds. It's sure to get you some comments. ;)” 9:41:28 AM 8/23/05 “LOL good idea! better yet, how would you like an early christmas present? teeheee” 9:42:56 AM 8/23/05 “Nah, my cats would treat it as a tartar control snack.” 9:44:46 AM 8/23/05 “Hood ornament. 'Nuff said.” 9:45:06 AM 8/23/05 Jump to Page << prev
