I see myself being swallowed into the darkness of government paper work! Fast help by the government??? This is bullcrap. I just want to go backpacking! I know how frustrating it is deal with insurance companies over home damage; I can't fathom what it's like to have to deal with the government and wait in a line of thousands to get your turn at some attention. Best of luck getting it all straightened out in a timely manner. Go for a hike if you can, it'll make things better (at least while you're gone, lol). When we had the trees fall on our house we took off for eleven days hiking, got home and the insurance company wanted to know where we'd been and why the work wasn't started/completed. They withheld 20% of our repair funds because they were sure we'd taken a vacation with what they'd given us to get started. Truth of the matter was we'd planned a trip for a year and no holes in our roof were going to keep us from going. And what the insurance company awarded us wasn't enough to pay a contractor to do the repairs to the roof, just enough for supplies. It was a long drawn out battle for all the funds to repair everything damaged. We left the company afterwards. I still can't talk to an insurance agent without heart palpitations and stress, lol.” 8:05:28 AM 9/22/04 “That's a terrible experience, Sassafras.
