Push The Envelope
To go the limit of known performance. This idiom originated with aeroplane industry. The limits of a plane's performance were marked on a two-dimensional graph. The envelope is the area of the graph that indicates safe usage. In use since the late 70's. .

Good Morning Everyone,

My son woke me up at 3:45 this morning. He was having what I think were muscle spasms in his neck; he couldn't move without some pretty extreme pain. We deliberated awhile, drove 15 miles to the emergency room, but didn't go in, it seemed to be subsiding. Came home, ice packs, massage, etc. He seems to be doing better, resting etc. A couple kids died here from meningitis, which has a sore neck association, so he was scared by that. I don't think the ^&% )@^^^ football is any help, he's always been prone to injuries.

Other than that (Mrs. Lincoln) it looks like a beautiful morning here in the desert.

N.S. - the anniversary bash was great. Tons of people (in some cases it didn't take too many people to get to that ton), lots of food, big tents for shade and a beautiful day. There were even a few classmates from the reunion of 8/7, making it all the more fun. Today and the next 2 will be spent cutting down trees and splitting firewood. Fall is already in the air. Coffee is more precious by the day with the early morning chill. It's fun, in an odd sort of reminiscing way, to stumble around the 50 degree morning household to get the coffee brewing. It's like the old days when all we had was a wood stove and it always seemed to go out at night. I often ended up sleeping a whole lot closer to anyone of my brothers than memory really cares to admit. I've lived all over the world and it's these feelings, these memories, that make this place home rather than any intellectual, reasonable decision making process. It's home because it's home.

You look too bright eyed this morning. What happened? Northern Wisconsin Saturday night parties used to be everlasting.

I may be a collectors item, but I'm not a relic, yet! Or am I! This morning I had to look up PWC, Personal Water Craft. We used to call them, Jet Ski Boats. (The term appeared in today's TwinCities.com, Pioneer Press, in an accident report from Dunham Lake in Daniels Township, Wisconsin.)

Snake Eyes - In looking at the North Shore Trail, I was considering trying to loop back on the SHT(to return to my car). How did you handle transportation on your two trips there?

Good morning. We, er, I slept in this morning. (I'll take that comment to the dating rocks thread!)

60 degrees outside right now but I"m sure it was cooler earlier. rained last night. The BF put up an antannae for me so now I can watch the olympics. Although this morning the marathon is pretty freaking boring. (sorry Bowlderman/Aero, just not into all that running and the strategy behind it)

sprayed a few wasps nests this am hoping to be able to dismantle the dog pen that it was located in so I can move it to my back yard.

[bold]Prosecutor[/bold] you mentioned "prosecutor bars". Is that recipe located somewheres on TT? I'd be interested in that recipe. Always looking for a good trail bar to make. I think I know how to formulate it but my concoctions sometimes turn out to be chicken feed.

hope everyone is having a great day. Ate trout last night that we caught (fly fishing) out of the river out back. Was good!

N.S.
At the end of the first half of the trip I was offered a ride by some college kids while I awaited the shuttle. At the start of the 2nd half the shuttle met me at trails end (where I left my vehicle) and delivered me to my starting point. I hiked toward the truck. The shuttle service can be linked at the Superior Hiking Trail Association website.

Nice cool sunny morning here in the central Wisconsin Northwoods. Couldn't check in over the weekend as our home computer had to go into the shop. It's the first day of fall semester here and I got in early enough to get a decent parking spot (the madhouse will begin shortly). That and I have an 8 o'clock class!

It was a pretty good weekend all in all. Went to Wausau on Saturday for the Big Bull Falls Blues Festival and saw John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, as well as some other bands. Probably should report on that in another thread.

Need more coffee, too.

It's a beautiful cool morning here in Yooper land. Just got through uploading pics to Webshots of my NCT day hike. Only a few pictures and they aren't very good at that. What I thought would be seven miles turned out to be more like 20! I layed around all day yesterday except to make meals for my son and take him to a birthday party.

Tired I am. Tried to get some folks mad on the Internet to make my day, looked at three newspapers on-line, got WQXR Classical Music started on the Web(now playing HAYDN: Symphony No 98 in B Flat), ordered some prescription refills at Walgreen's, paid some bills on-line, made a donut run on the bicycle, made coffee, had my coffee and donuts, and THEN:

pulled up all the skirting around my trailer,
Cut down some hibiscus shurbs with some creeping plant that had covered them,
cut down some palm tree limbs,
cut everything to size for the brush and lawn stuff pick-up today,
put everything out by the street,
took new skirting out of the car,
made some ice-cooled Gatorade,
turned on the a/c and took my morning pills.

Next, to relax, I brought up Trail Talk. At first I thought something was wrong. It appeared to be on USA's Photo Site! Now I need to get busy and get some things accomplished. Enjoy your day.
