“Sheila and I welcomed our newest hiking partner - Delany Rose - into the world yeasterday. Mom and baby are doing great.
When she came out she was clutching her umbilical cord in her hand. Perhaps a hint at her approach to life.
We are blessed.
7.0 lbs, 19.5"
“Maybe she's a future climber.”
“Hey that's great Coop!! I was just thinking about you!
(treebait stole my line, <grrrrrrrrrrrrr>)”
Your going to love being a Dad.”
“congrats! maybe we should start FTTA (Future Trail Talkers of America).”
“yeah, treebait stole my "Congratulations" line, too! i thought for sure no one would have taken that one... ;-) but for real, good stuff!”
“Congrats!!!! Your are blessed.”
“Congratulations, and get ready for many, many, many sleepness nights. But they are worth it.”
“Congratulations on your new family Big Coop!”
“What a great name! I love that, Delaney Rose. Definitely should have a Young Trail Talker/Hiker Club. Congratulations and good luck with your little future gear enthusiast.”
“Congrats, Coop! I'm excited for you!”
“That's great! Best wishes to mom and baby.
Where's my cigar?”
“A great day, congratulations!”
“Happy and Healthy - COOL!!!!
Enjoy every second.”
“congratulations to the coop family.”
“Don't you mean little poo?”
“AND someone (me) is already mispelling the poor little tyke's name. Sorry about the goof, it is Delany Rose.”
Great news! bet she's gorgeous....
“Namaste to the tiny new dancer Delany Rose~~~~~
Coop, you are so tall, i bet she fits in the palm of your hand!... she is also blessed ...getting you two for parents.
you can now use your backpacking skills by thinking of ways to lower your diaper bag weight when you take her on outings...
“My congratulations as well. I love the name.
Please send a picture to post. I need to get a much belated update together. (my apologies to everyone who has been waiting).”
“What news. Congrats on your new arrival, Coop.”
“I hope this don't cut into your BPing time.”
“Daughters are great. Congratulations!”
What's in a Name?
“A rose is a rose I suppose,
unless that new blossom grows
in a garden you tend
inside fences you mend
and the joy of your love is what shows.
Happy Birthday to Delany Rose, and congratulations to the Coops!”
“Hooray! Congratulations Coop and to the Mrs too!!! Enjoy every second, pretty soon you won't be able to catch that little one long enough to give her a hug and a kiss!”
“cool bean dude. congrates”
“Congrats on the little bundle of joy! I do admit I was a little disapointed when I opened this thread and it wasn't about this...
“Nigal I saw one in person yesterday. It was very cool and very small.”
“I saw my first Cooper Mini last week on the road. Cool lookin' car - but I think my head would stick through the top like Dino's on the Flintstones.
Ewker - you are correct - two sleepless nights and counting. Testament to my sleeplessness is the fact that LyndyS spelled Delaney's name correctly. It was her new father that got it wrong.
Thank you all for your well wishes. Everytime I look at her I'm amazed.”
“Name: Celtic-meaning descendant of the challenger. Change any diapers yet?”
“Changing diapers, whew talk about making your eyes water and the things that can happen when you are trying to change them. It seems that they know they have a clean diaper on and are intent on messing the new one up as soon as you change it. Just be glad you don't have a boy and just as you start to change the diaper he lets loose a stream straight at your face...lol.”
“Way to go!
Way to go BIG COOP!!
“Hey Big Coop -
Congrats to you and your lovely wife on your new little "alarm clock"
I bet you are so excited you can hardly sleep...LOL
Good news..now, when will she be ready to hike to the Springs again??
God Bless ya all -
“Actually - and I guess this is somewhat embarassing - I had never changed a diaper before in my life until two days ago. Boy and to think what I was missing!
Yeah Tango - we thought that was a neat meaning for a name. Also, my wife's family is from Ireland so we thought the gaelic/celtic connection worked.”
Diaper Changing one-oh-one
I learned how to diaper my daughter after she was born by reading the directions on the back of the Pampers BOX, yes I said BOX..for you youngun's there was a time when diapers came in boxes, not in bags.....
Now I know I am showing my age...
Say g'night, Tex!
If you go to HPM's thread you will see my latest request (demand) for PICTURES!!!!!”
“TXWoodswoman, my first wife believed in cloth diapers! There was a time when you didn't throw diapers away, young parents. There was a time when wives changed their minds after awhile, too, lol.”
“I'm working on pictures - no digital camera adds a little time to the process.
Why don't I have a digital camera?!”
“Because you haven't burned 12 rolls in a day taking shots of the little one yet.”
“Congratulations Coop, have fun while you can. HPM is right, invest in a digital now, you'll save a little in film & processing costs but may lose it again in ink and paper costs if your wife is like mine.”
“You'll definitely want a good camera. My current camera (which is old now) was purchased out of frustration over not being able to get good closeups of my daughters. Now I want to get a digital.”
“om - Yes she is a tiny one - looks like a little tree frog on my chest. Thank you for the blessing.
Tex - unfortunately our new alarm clock appears to be broken - it goes off at all hours of the night!
pekka - beautiful verse.”
“Finally posted some pictures of Delaney.
Fatherhood is going well so far. There's the usual newborn stuff like weird sleep patterns and not really leaving the house, but then she shoots me a little look and I melt.
Phil - I'll send a picture your way.”
“What a cutie!
Who's the goofy-looking guy?
“Yeah, yeah - couldn't stop the smiles or the tears.”
