Should I be under quarantine?
My young colleague in the next cubicle has just gotten her first taste of Sierra Trading Post, courtesy of yours truly. She is planning to do some day hiking and camping up in the U.P. this summer and was wondering about hiking boots. So I gave her my STP shoe catalog that had arrived the day before, showed her the website, and she scored big. A pair of $200 Lowa trekking boots for $29.95! They only had size 5, which is her size. She brought them to work this morning to show me. Sweeeeet. Made in Germany and leather lined with a nifty ventilation perferation system in the lining. Now that she has the boots, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the full blown infection begins to show symptoms. Especially once the catalogs start arriving every week.

Yeah, I'm feeling soooo bad...I already whispered the word "daypack," LOL. She is completely unencumbered with gear, so it is like a pristine petri dish that I've contaminated and can watch the culture grow.

I'm truly torn on this issue, Pekka. There's a tiny angel on one shoulder squeaking: "Aroint Ye, Evil Incarnate!" while the devil on my left squeals "MORE HIKER BABES!"

Aren't you proud of yourself Pekka? Stimulating the economy and all that;-)

Just tell her that buying gear is a way to calm the nerves!

And it makes ya happy too.

That's how I got Mother Goose going. Now she gets her own catalogs from Campmor and REI and I can buy MORE GEAR with impunity!

Aaaakkkk! My colleague is out "sick" today. I bet she's at home gear shopping...or worse, out hiking in her new boots! What have I done? Of course, as long as I don't have to cover her classes, it's all okay.

Whew...
...she's back today and claims she was actually ill. But she came in wearing the new hiking boots. Clear sign of gear infection.

During the normal progress of this disease a short period of cocooning is normal. usually the victim will claim the cocoon to be a new tent or hammock or claim to have had the "flu" to cover up their absence....

be extremly careful during this period as interacting with other bugs can cause sever mutations such as trollitis. victim should be isolated from all extremist political views, fed a bland diet and prevented from any type of internet experiance.
