Live Music Is The Best...It Cannot Be Denied
“I went to see a bluegrass show last night with a few local bands and headlining Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. My friends and I were about the youngest ones there other than the kids of attending parents. One of the bands was a family with 3 generations represented in the band. The littlest looked about 10 years old but still shredded the mandolin up. At one point, 4 little girls stepped onstage and danced to the song. The show was such a reverend experience with no swearing, screaming and getting crazy, and was almost like going back in time before amplified electric instruments. Makes me wonder if shows like these will still be around in 10-20 years?”
“My best live shows!!!!
“Buddur - you know if that's the same Quicksilver from the the late 60's ?”
“STONE TEMPLE PILOTS it was a closed unplugged performance before the big show that night. It was amazingly GREAT!!”
“I'm going to go see Ronnie James Dio, Deep Purple, and The Scorpions in Nashville June 18.
“Old Deep Purple is great I have never seen them live but there old stuff rocks!!!
“I,ve seen Dio and Scorpions before. It will be my first time to see Deep Purple. I don't think Ritchie Blackmore is with them any more.”
These Guys Sang Gosple Songs Acappella
“You may be thinking of Quicksilver Messanger Service, Mr.laqtis.”
“I like those types of concerts too Buddur. It sounds like it was awesome.”
“Sounds like a blast Buddur.”
“About a month ago I caught a really awesome electric violin show. That rocked my a$$ hard. It was mind boggling.”
“I just got back from Merlefest.. a 4 day bluegrass/blues/cajun/celtic get together..It was awesome..They had
15 stages going on but over the course of 4 days all performers played more than 3 times a day..
Jam sessions everywhere..The highlight of the whole event for me was to see Allison Krauss and Union Station..
In addition to all the concerts going on they had every kind of competition..I sat in and watched the Mandolin and Banjo contests..I was so disappointed that not one women participated..I made a vow that before long I would be up on that stage with my Mandolin giving it my all!!!!!!”
“Darkstar Orchestra Aug. 2 in cincy. buddur i think i have an extra ticket. it's gonna be bad.”
“My wife dumped a bunch of money to go see Creed and in exchange for her going I have tickets for OZZFEST! There are few concerts I'll travel too far for (3 hours drive) but Dream Theater is playing with Joe Satriani this summer. If I have to I'll fly for that one. I'm also hoping to catch Harry Connick Jr. this summer too.”
“Ozzfest, eh, Nigal. That is a little too much for me. I think I'd prolly get trampled.”
“I saw Dave Matthews last week. When I saw him last year, I swore I wouldn't buy another ticket to see him. But luckily I had a free ticket to this event, and they were SOO good again, I'll buck up next time if necessary. Last year at Comerica Park the band had absolutely no energy, it was really boring.”
“JOSH, extra ticket and you didnt invite me?? D!CK!”
“Yes, Buddur, that would be the one. Thanks for FYI. I didn't think they would have made it this far...”
“"Ozzfest, eh, Nigal. That is a little too much for me. I think I'd prolly get trampled."
Ya just have to know how to handle yourself. That's why we always tear the seats out, so you beat the hell out of them before they trample ya. The only problem with festivals is ya have to sit through the stuff ya don't wanna see to see what ya do. I'm dreading having to sit through a whole set of System of a Turd to see the Ozz Man. LOL!”
“Saturday was beautiful... I put a backpack and walked out along the Charles River to the Hatch Shell for an outdoor Earthday/Earthweek show. Garbage, Midnight Oil, Lisa Loeb and Bonnie Raitt performed. My sons sat way up front and my younger son got a "high-5" from Shirley Manson (now there's a MILF for ya). Someone else (Johnny A? performed and was quite lame).
Friday I see Lori McKenna... an incredible songwriter and great singer(also a Mom, but not a milf).”
“a MILF, lmao!! Garbage rocks. so how's your son's vegan backpacking coming along, pedxing? :-)”
“Last live concert was my son in a teen jazz concert. He's eleven but was allowed to join 'cause he's got "it." They played some Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. He had his first improv solo and wailed. He's the only clarinet so the band leader swung a mic under his bell. He played in a higher pitch then I've ever heard him practice, sounded like a soprano sax. Guess I should take this to the "boasting parent thread!"”
“The vegan boy is doing well and I'm learning to expand my vegan cooking.
He has an article in the current issue of a national church-based publication and it came out recently. It was on display at a table at the Earth Day concerts. Between that a getting a few words and a "high 5" and a few words from Shirley, he was feeling like hot stuff.
Its so great to share musical interests with my kids. They even ask to go along to some of the concerts I go to.”
I saw them for a new years show one year and they blew me out of the water!!!!!
“I'm w/ you on System Nigal. I drove to the western side of the state w/a buddy a few wkends ago and he made me listen the whole time. I wanted to kill him and the dumb band. If I ever go to Ozzfest, I'll remember the seat trick! LOL!
You know who I want to see soooo bad . . . TOOL! Yes! They rock.”
“I like TOOL also (no I'm not gay and no I'm not gay for denying it!). Do you like A Perfect Circle also? I'd rather see Manard with APC than TOOL.”
“Our tickets came last week for our June excursion to see Barry Manilow at the opening of the new CityLights Pavilion in Denver. I'm so excited--they're great seats. He puts on fantastic concerts!”
Oh Buddur... You Came And You Gave AndI'llTakeIt
“"I write the songs that make the whole world sing."

Here's A Trick For The OzzFest
“The last OzzFest I scored Pavillion tickets by hanging out at the front gate and asking the folks leaving if they had a pavillion seat ticket they'd like to donate to a hardcore Black Sabbath fan. I was truely surprised at the number of people leaving before the last 2 acts, bu they were kind and generous.
I got there with Slipnot, Marilyn Manson then Black Sabbath to go onstage. Watched Slipnot from the grass and prior to Marilyn Manson, went to the gate and solicited for closer (pavilion) tickets. It worked like a charm, and I scored 3 tickets so my other friends could enter the pavilion and get close(r) to the bands.
I suggest you try it...if you have grass tickets!!!”
“I got tickets that are in the pavilion but at the back. My wife bought tickets for Creed through a broker ($160, SHEEAT!) and Scott Stap got messed up in a car wreck and they cancelled the tour so we have $160 credit with the broker and I may use that cash to upgrade my seats. The only reason I wanted to go is to see Zack Wylde tear it up with Black Lable Society.”
“As long as you have pavillion seats, especially when they are in the back, by the end of the show it'll be easy to weasle your way to seats closer to the stage.”
“Nigal, I don't know Perfect Circle. Is there some kind of association w/ gayness and TOOL now? I was not aware. I'm going to go on loving them anyway.
Has anyone ever been to Lollapalooza or Lillith Fair? Lame or Cool? Buddur, I'm pretty much talking to you. You seem to have some major concert experience.”
“One thing I can say about System, Nigal, they were interesting when they first came out. I had a buddy that worked at a college radio station and he first introduced me to them. They were pretty okay then.”
“"Is there some kind of association w/ gayness and TOOL now?"
No no no! One of TOOL's guitar techs had a band called A Perfect Circle and asked Mainard to do the vocals for the band. It is not as out in left field but has a great sound. Check 'em out, you'll like 'em.”
“Oh, thank God, I was getting really worried. I'll check it out. Nigal, what do you know about Lollopalooza or Lillith?”
“Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it when I get home. Not sure I should be listening to this at the sawmill, I think these people are more into Garth Brooks. LOL!”
“One of my son's turned me on to Tool, Perfect Circle and System of a Down.
The Maynard bands are great!
I've only heard two things by system, but I like them both.”
“Buddur, I had some questions for you, if you happen to see this.”
“Both concert festivals are great if you like the lineup of musicians. Lollapallooza has more wierd-act bands, whereas Lillith Fair is pretty much all chick bands for chicks and chicks who like chicks.”
“I have seen the line-up for Lillith before and I generally like those musicians (although I'm not on any lesbian man-hater thing, so maybe I wouldn't fit in w/ the crowd to well, LOL)!”
“Thanks for the info. I was interested in your opinion. It seems like we like similiar concerts venues.”
“Lillith doesn't even run any more does it? I thought they #&%!$canned it. Lalawhatever was cool and attracted some big acts but it kind of went down hill.”
“I don't know if Lillith runs anymore. My friends went to one in Canada a couple yrs. ago and the line-up for it was pretty cool. I agree that Lollapalooza went down hill, I don't even know if they run anymore. I would have or would like to see either one. Just to see what it was like. I've never been to a festival like that.”
“i went to the Lilith Fair! it was alright, but not all that great. compared to other music festivals, the activity there seemed so--horrors--legal! hehe. i did get some sun, though...it was during the day, and we brought a blanket to lay on. actually, i'm remembering now that it was a really pretty day...lots of families there, too. :-)”
“Eegads! I just scored tickets for Nickleback, Jerry Cantrel, Default, and Cold and got third row center in the pit!”
“Anyone wanna see Dream Theater/Joe Satriani/Kings X with me in Michigan Friday Aug 8th? The wife won't go with me. Anyone?”
“Never mind. I talked her into it. HEEHEE! Pack yer bags cause we're goin' on a guilt trip!”
“I have been in Portland for 2 weeks and have yet to go to a live concert. And this is supposed to be a music mecca. Ok, time to complain”
“I can't wait untill Phish comes back.
I relly need to see a show!
